I enjoy you as a content creator because unlike other creators you complain extensively about the exact things I would complain about, every complaint you had on The Forest I had too, just watching you TRY to build a completely reasonable structure in this game annoys me too. So yeah, it's really easy to relate to your videos on top of the fact that they are just very relaxing to watch.
Agreed! Purchased The Forest and recently Green Hell knowing what mechanics are clunky - his honesty sells the games regardless of the annoyances experienced.
Farket doesn't hold back, yet doesn't speak in a way that feels like he's trying to negatively affect the game sales or longevity.

Farket, you probably have seen the development updates. If not, on 1/23, they are releasing an overhaul to the build system. From reading some of the logs, it seems they watched your videos and took your advice to heart. Just thought you should know about
“Death by Lego “ you are not too far off
it often helps to cancel all unfinished constructions that are connected with the building, where the mud wall won't go in. Subnauticas build system has a similar issue where unfinished parts in your base put the base in some weird state which prevents certain construction works actions.

If you add a couple of farming plots with bananas in them, you will be drowning in carbs.
Nice series m8. Btw for carbs if u find a banana harvest it and then put it to grow it at ur base so u will have it. I like the game it's nice but the bugs are a lot good u put all this on the video. Ps: to repair the traps u need to put small leaf pile first on them

Was 100% waiting for a hard cut and the whole forest is covered with spike traps hahaha
That flower that gave you food poisoning, if you wait to harvest it, will turn into this cucumber looking fruit which doesn't spoil and provides carbs, protein and i think something else i can't remember. Got good stats tho, only draw back is it is quite large, not so easy to store
Monstera Deliciosa, one of the best sustainable foods in the game. Set up multiple farm plots for this, and banana trees, and raffia palm trees, and you are set for life as you have renewable resources for proteins, fats, and carbs. Even in Green Hell mode, this makes the game easy mode.
I'm really not sure why these videos are so calming and enjoyable, but please keep it up mate!
@Farket I used to find that you have to try to place down walls and other structures from very specific angles to work (often from above). Doesn't always work, but I managed to get it working most of the time after playing around with it from various angles.
This game has been on my wish list on Steam for a long time now, this base building doesn't fill me with confidence. Cheers big ears! to his father who had no ears, as chopper would say lol
I promise you it's not worth your money, simply because the devs gave up on this game a LONG time ago. Completely abandoned it. So, if you expect bugs to get fixed or new features you'll be safely mistaken other than that it's worth it to buy on wishlist yes.
That was fun to watch, but looked painful to actually do. I'll leave the building to you and I'll enjoy the videos instead. Lol

That pink flower that gave food poisoning, dry it out then you can plant it. Grows monstera deliciousa plant. Fruit is amazing for carbs and protein.

The pottery table isn't at all late game. You can very easily craft yourself as many big bowls and canteens as you want.

Sleeping in lower quality beds, / beds closer to the ground give you greater chances of worms burrowing into you overnight. You may also rest quicker, but that might just be a placebo effect.
Watching you struggle with the building mechanics has helped me decide to not buy Green Hell and just stick to playing The Forest. I felt your frustration my dude. Keep up the great videos!

Hey Farket, the reason the attempted double ghost frame you tried failed is that it was two ghost frames next to eachother... and this might just be my game being buggy but long sticks act as your stick walls did, but bamboo walls seem to always allow placement of mud objects on it....

Lol when I first played I could barely figure out how to make the most basic shelter before dying. And this was AFTER I'd played every other survival crafting game in existence.
Since we know that placing things the correct order matters: what happens when the indigenous people decide to pay you a visit and wreck a crucial building part? It's not as if you can patch the structure any way you like... (actual question, this is why I stopped playing, turning destruction off makes it impossible for me to change up things and turning the natives off makes for boring gameplay).
I bought the game like a week ago and was surprised to find that it feels like a beta.
Was going to buy this because I love this type of game but it looks far too frustrating for me. Thanks for the video.

Thing is there's so much stuff in the game that the little places they let you build aren't big enough. I use build anywhere and the build in water mid cause it makes the game more fun
You can get a mod that lets you build anywhere and it's almost necessary at this point.

If you want a premium survival game experience. Try this cool new thing. You dont only hear and see, but you also get to smell, taste, and feel what's in the game. It's called going outside. Unless theres a heat wave that melted the pavement or a hurricane that moved you neighbors in middle of the specific ocean.
yeah but that costs a lot more than 25.50 on sale. also the devs turned on permadeath for some reason and they won't restore a character. Kinda messed up for something that claims to be a game that literally everybody should play, and there's no accessibility features. Everything good has been player-made really, and i wouldn't support a game that only runs well with mods.

I've been playing green hell alot lately and if it won't let you build a wall, just try rotating it instead of breaking everything around it. It doesn't always work but it does work most of the time.

Sad to see that the building is this bad on the normal verison of the game. The PCVR version definitely has its own spew of issues, and no balconies, but no issues like that with the roofs
I can tell you that you should use the mod "build everywhere".
I use it too and for me it is no cheating.
It makes the live much easier :)

I bought this game a long time ago, hated it and uninstalled it. I figured I'd watch this series to see if it sparked my interest back, but after watching this horribly buggy building espiode, it's definitely not getting played. But I am enjoying watching farket endure it lol
And here I thought the importance of order in building in Fallout 76 was fiddly. But this is much worse. Sad, because the story and building items seemed to have potential, but they don’t seem to be fixing/improving the bits that people have given feedback on to give it more quality of life features. Glad you’re stubborn enough to keep at it and find ways around it or alternate means of getting it built. Still enjoy what you come up with. Hope you, your kiddo & anyone in your circle of fam/friends are doing well.
Farket try conan exiles has a great building mechanics and also just had a massive update
2:48 This is why I eventually quit playing GH. Just absolutely flabbergasting when the build tool bugs out and you can't build. This is especially annoying when you are really deep into a build and have to replan everything because the structure won't place. And this is one of the biggest reasons I moved onto The Forest. GH is a really great game but I'm in the "been there, done that, EFF-off build tool!" camp now.
You should keep the spawnpoint of the tribesman and use them as a bone farm

The more base camp you clear in the region the fewer enemies will spawn in that region.
