  • When the cabinet doors start growing their own eyebrows it's definitely time for a good cleaning. Here's how I put the shine back on my custom cabinet doors.

    Hi friends! I'm Jennifer, a forty-something wife and mother of 7 children ages 5 - 20. We are Catholic. We homeschool. We cook from scratch. We farm cranberries. We drink coffee. We advocate for Down syndrome awareness. We are loud. We are chaotic.
    Here I'll share vlogs about all these things, what I'm doing that works and what I've tried but didn't work. I hope to encourage you in your journey through motherhood, homeschooling, learning to cook, and growing in your faith through it all.

    Hello! I’m watching a couple videos before I give my cabinets a good cleaning and I felt like I needed to tell you that Angela Brown on the “Angela Brown Cleaning” YT channel said that a magic eraser would scratch the finish on cabinets. I just thought you might want to be careful. It might take a couple of cleanings before it would start to show but she’s a professional cleaner. (Not trying to be mean or bossy.) 😊

      Hi Janet, I really only use the magic eraser with the doors that are above the stove and tend to get greasy. I'm wondering now what Angela Brown would recommend. I'll have to check out her channel.

      @@156aliciasy your question was from two years ago but I'm gonna answer it anyways, lol. The person was saying that they put newspaper or something similar on the very very top of your cabinets. Not inside them but on top of them. It's an area that you don't ever see unless you're up there trying to clean all the dust and grease and whatever builds up on the top of any cabinet in a kitchen. It's a pretty good idea I'm actually gonna try it.

    Please don't use magic eraser type pads. It's a soft abrasive. It removes the top layer and damages items.

      @acountrylife  2 роки тому +3

      I always test the magic erasers on an inconspicuous area first. I hope that the top layer on my cabinets is just a greasy layer.🙂

    If you want to make your knobs uniform, poke the end of a toothpick into the screw hole that has become reamed out over time. Your whole house is wood by the time you get to the last part, the first part will need it again

    I was gifted a beautiful Oak China Cabinet and Dinette set. I had never ever used this product before so my expectations were that it would leave the wood clean and with a great shine. But I did not see a shine at all sadly. I washed the area twice, rinsed with clear wipe down and hand dried the area. I was trying to avoid using Pledge because a wood refinisher advised me this is not a good practice and after researching, it does indicate Pledge puts a waxy layer on the wood, further preventing proper cleaning.

    • @acountrylife
      @acountrylife  Рік тому

      Sorry to hear it didn't work well for you. Sometimes buffing with a clean cotton cloth helps bring out the shine, but you need to put in a lot of elbow grease.

      @@acountrylife I think you did a great job and enjoyed your video and chat. Your cabinets look fantastic! I found this: "A Magic Eraser is as abrasive as fine grit sandpaper and SHOULD NOT be used on kitchen cabinets. Abrasive scrubbers can sand down the clear top coat on your cabinets, making the sheen look permanently dulled in spots." Having found that, I still think your cabinets look wonderful. Having got all the grit off maybe you can just use the Murphy's now to keep them conditioned and looking great. I have to do my dirty old cabinets so am trying to get ideas. Thanks for posting.
