To me, this song ranks up there with songs like Wichita Lineman and By the Time I get to Phoenix. All beautiful melodies with lyrics so well written that not many songs compare. A lot of times, when you listen to music, what catches you is the melody and the lyrics are not that important. In this song the lyrics are as just as important if not more so. They really are perfection.
WOW!.....I'm a huge Gregory Porter fan but hadn't listened to much of Jamie Cullum before, but I will listen to some more of his stuff now...that was fantastic.
Realign all the stars above my head Warning signs travel far I drink instead on my own Oh! how I've known the battle scars and worn out beds Gentle now a tender breeze blows whispers through a Gran Torino whistling another tired song Engines humm and bitter dreams grow heart locked in a Gran Torino it beats a lonely rhythm all night long These streets are old they shine with the things I've known and breaks through the trees their sparkling Your world is nothing more than all the tiny things you've left behind So tenderly your story is nothing more than what you see or what you've done or will become standing strong do you belong in your skin; just wondering Gentle now a tender breeze blows whispers through the Gran Torino whistling another tired song engines humm and bitter dreams grow a heart locked in a Gran Torino it beats a lonely rhythm all night long May I be so bold and stay I need someone to hold that shudders my skin their sparkling Your world is nothing more than all the tiny things you've left behind So realign all the stars above my head warning signs travel far i drink instead on my own oh how ive known the battle scars and worn out beds Gentle now a tender breeze blows whispers through the Gran Torino whistling another tired song engines humm and better dreams grow heart locked in a Gran Torino it beats a lonely rhythm all night long it beats a lonely rhythm all night long it beats a lonely rhythm all night long
I know and love Porter, but who the heck is this Cullum? I can't place who he reminds me of but the nasal character of his voice is just so darn cool I can hardly stand it!! Someone out there help me place who he reminds me of. All I can say is WOW!!!!!
Dunno who Jamie reminds you of, but he's a British jazz pianist and singer-songwriter...kind of a latter-day white Nat Cole. Jamie wrote this song as the theme for the Clint Eastwood film Gran Torino. Jamie has a radio show on BBC2 radio in the UK, which also airs in Canada on JazzFM out of Toronto...on which station Gregory is heard plenty, too...
Them together to me just didn't sound inline, its almost like they were competing instead of in harmony. Didnt like this version the original is by far the best.
Good to hear there are still singers singing real songs
Jamie is an excellent lyricist. A very soulful man. He really understands life. A beautiful duet from two of my favourite musicians ......🤩🤗😍
And that, ladies and gentlemen is how you do a duet.
brilliant vocals...can't stop listening
Saw them perform this number at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival a lifetime ago and before we were tied down. Just beautiful.
Parce qu'il y a aussi des moments extraordinaires qui ne sont que plaisir...

BOOM
Realign all the stars above my head
Warning signs travel far
I drink instead on my own Oh! how I've known
the battle scars and worn out beds
Gentle now a tender breeze blows
whispers through a Gran Torino
whistling another tired song
Engines humm and bitter dreams grow
heart locked in a Gran Torino
it beats a lonely rhythm all night long
These streets are old they shine
with the things I've known
and breaks through the trees
their sparkling
Your world is nothing more than all the tiny things you've left behind
So tenderly your story is
nothing more than what you see
or what you've done or will become
standing strong do you belong
in your skin; just wondering
Gentle now a tender breeze blows
whispers through the Gran Torino
whistling another tired song
engines humm and bitter dreams grow
a heart locked in a Gran Torino
it beats a lonely rhythm all night long
May I be so bold and stay
I need someone to hold
that shudders my skin
their sparkling
Your world is nothing more than all the tiny things you've left behind
So realign all the stars above my head
warning signs travel far
i drink instead on my own oh how ive known
the battle scars and worn out beds
Gentle now a tender breeze blows
whispers through the Gran Torino
whistling another tired song
engines humm and better dreams grow
heart locked in a Gran Torino
it beats a lonely rhythm all night long
it beats a lonely rhythm all night long
it beats a lonely rhythm all night long
"..... it beats a lonely rhythm all night long." Beautiful.

Brilliant...That is all
Jamie reminds me of John Legend in his phrasing. Gregory Porter sounds awesome
definitely phrasing like John Legend...a bit of his timbre, as well.
i swear he dose looks like Pete Doherty though, well minus the skag
38 people can´t feel a lonely rhythm all night long beating. So sorry for them.

It's an interesting story how it happens, that Clint Eastwood choose this artist( Jamie Cullum) to write song to Gran Torino.
Perhaps a bit of an odd pairing, but I like it. Jamie is a bit of an old soul and they have the same heart for music.
Was that sopose to be just pictorial ? Loved the vocals anyhow !
Feeling sleepy songs
SURE FUKIN IS
Is Gregory Porter French? He does not sound French at all XD
nah he is not french lol think he is American
Born and raised in California !
CHALK & CHEESE SORRY JAMIE .
