Had completely forgot about this song until it popped into my head at 2AM this morning. Such a great song, I remember when it was released and saw them perform it live when I was in high school.
I completely forgot about it as well. Just watched Professor of Rock episode on Love Hurts. In the post script bit at the end he mentioned Holiday and played a 5 second clip. My brain went "DING. That song, yeah. I really liked that song. How did I ever forget it?" Immediately ran to find it.

Sad news, Dan McCafferty, former lead singer has passed away at age 76. He died Tuesday, 11/08/2022. He was the soul of Nazareth. RIP and God bless...thank you for the great music.
On this day(April 30) in 1999, Nazareth drummer Darrell Sweet died of a heart attack as the band arrived for a show in New Albany, Indiana. Love this song. RIP Darrell.
I’m 47 and the youngest brother of 4 I remember being 7 yrs old while my one brother played this for me he passed last year which leaves only 3 now but what a great song!
OMG. I love this song. I have loved it since it first came out on the radio back in the 70's. I never get tired of listening to it. Beautiful chords. Beautiful instrumentations. Thank you Nazareth for always making me feel young again and taking me back to a very happy time in my life.
I partied with these guys about the time this song came out at the Holiday inn in La Crosse Wisconsin what a bunch of crazy guys but they were really nice all of them just down to earth
This was one of the first music videos I saw as a kid, even pre-dating MTV. There was some local network affilate that ran an oddball block of programming very early in the morning on the weekends, you had to take what you could get when you didn't have cable!
I’m thrilled to rediscover this old music video that I loved when it was broadcast on Video Concert Hall. I only just now learned that Nazareth was from Scotland! -awesome! My ancestors hail from Scotland.
It is so sad and an injustice that Nazareth never really got their due..you had to see these guys play live in order to really appreciate them,,,,The most underrated Band in Rock history..they should have been in The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame years ago... It's not the same without Dan McCafferty.
Im so lucky i've watched them in live concerts here in Philippines wayback year 1985 during their world tour, it was my greatest unforgetable experienced ever in life.."SNAZ" is the best..
Talent. Just good, old-fashioned rocking with cracking musicians and McCafferty's distinctive vocals. God, to go back to 1980 and be driving at night between Sherman, Texas and Ada, Oklahoma and the Zoo is playing the best music in the world. Thanks so much for putting this one up!!🥰
R.I.H.(eaven), Danny Mac (Dan McCafferty)!!!!! This song ("Holiday") is my fave from Nazareth. It's got that "bluesy backbeat" that Rock & Roll's based on.
I still remember hearing this one on the bus headed to school (grade 8) loved it from the first time I heard it even know I couldn't make out all the lyrics...sang the line over and over "momma please no more face lifts I just don't know which one you is " throughout science class...the voice is the band and in many cases over powers the music/backing vocals...love it:)))
Same here, Mick! 8th Grade, 1980 - bus to and fro school. Used to hear this and Mott's "All The Young Dudes" AND could not make out the lyrics either, LOL!
Así es fue un grande entre los grandes , Manny Charlton , su verdadero nombre era Manuel y nació en la Línea de la Concepción al sur de España un saludo desde España
Still have the album from those days.My brother and I blasting it in our basement . Great times, great music Glad to have seen Nazereth in Ft.Laud Summers on the Beach in '90-91 ?It got hazy back then.
As soon as that quarter went in, my friends and I were psyched knowing the video was about to start on MTV. If you had MTV from the start in 1981, you saw this video constantly. Can’t believe it only hit #87 on the singles charts!
Nowadays popular music , rock and music in general is dead ... everything is plastic , generic ,lyrics made with 3 words and the singers are so useless they have to use autotune .. and nobody plays an instrument....
Great upload. I really liked this song and remember watching it on MTV back in 1981. I also remember that they used the segment from about 2:20 - 2:30 for their "stereo hookup" commercials, I think. Anyway, this brings back good memories from being a kid.
Born in 1987, but I only love classical rock like this. Also boogie rock, rock n' roll, neo classical, heavy, power, trash, black, death, doom, glamm, etc. As you know, classic is teacher 👌

80s
@coogan8825Yes, it says 1980 in the title of this video! 👌
Perfect 80's crossover. Pop rock yet still had soul, grit and great lyrics.
Why wasn't it a hit in the States? Like Thin Lizzy , injustice.
Nazareth & Thin Lizzy .
Overlooked( in the States) Celtic legends!
Haven't heard this song in about 30 years and still know the words to the song.

My ancestors hail from Scotland.
This band NEVER got the accolades they deserved for their contributions to hard rock and heavy metal. They were literally years ahead of their time.
It is so sad and an injustice that Nazareth never really got their due..you had to see these guys play live in order to really appreciate them,,,,The most underrated Band in Rock history..they should have been in The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame years ago... It's not the same without Dan McCafferty.

A Timeless Masterpiece by a Great Band!
As an indicator of just how ahead of their time they were....this predates MTV. Very few bands were doing videos at the time.
R.I.H.(eaven), Danny Mac (Dan McCafferty)!!!!! This song ("Holiday") is my fave from Nazareth. It's got that "bluesy backbeat" that Rock & Roll's based on.

Nothing short of a excellent song 👍
Isso e som diverdade.. eternos para sempre.. viva a música diverdade..
Nazareth is one of my favorite rock groups.😍
Underrated, yes, in the US. In Europe in the mid to late 70s this band was up there with Black Sabbath and Deep Purple in popularity.
