The Ulta sale being week by week was so frustrating. I got the About Face eye paints and then clocked out, I don't care enough to check for weekly sales lmao, nah. Glad Ulta learned and won't do that again.
I want those "boring" things, too! While shopping, brighter and weirder things always catch my eye as they are supposed to, but when doing my makeup routine, I hardly ever reach for them. I think plain products are easy to work with and suitable for plenty of different makeup styles, so it's worth investing in them. Very intrigued by the new palette by Mario. I also feel like they are slowly but progressively bringing back 2017, I see more and more references on Pinterest. I am not a big fan of applying techniques that were used around that time, but I don't mind playing with new colors and textures inspired by that :)
I’m so so happy to hear an influencer say they won’t support non cruelty free brands! It’s so frustrating to watch people give their money to brands that engage in animal testing just because they wrap their horrific practises in cute packaging. Subscribed because I heard you say that!! 🫶🏻

Too bad, as a cool toned girl I really wanted to try those but I guess I'll have to skip 😅 P.S. a $500 blow dryer? Me and my $25 one get along just fine!
Honestly baffled that people even buy these pricey dryers! Just get a decent hairdryer that comes with some attachments, they’re all over Amazon and have good reviews

Tbh, I would love if more brand would release both super pink-toned bronzers (for the light cool people) and super yellow-toned bronzers (for light warm people). For me, because I'm so warm toned, any bronzer with a hint of orange turns pink on me because my skin REALLY emphasizes the red from orange undertone. I need an extremely yellow bronzer or even OLIVE bronzer and there are so few of them!
Shu Uemura used to make mousse primers a few years ago with SPF protection, if I remember correctly. So the concept is a little less novel to me tbh. The Shu one worked pretty well, not sure about the Milk one tho! Didn't think we'd be bringing mousse makeup back
all these launches of the same stuff over and over and yet we can’t get any western beauty brands to put out affordable CUSION COMPACTS with a good shade range. I want a good cushion compact! wet and wild had one a few years ago but that was discontinued and now the only options are k beauty brands on yesstyle or something with 1-2 shades (5 tops) so good luck finding your shade, or some of the higher end brands (i think estée lauder has/had one???) where it’s like 60 bucks or some nonsense. Hey beauty brands if you are reading this-GIVE US LOW TO MID RANGE PRICED REFILLABLE CUSION COMPACTS!!
The first thing I thought about at the idea of cushion foundation taking off with western beauty brands is that the one from Too Faced is definitely going to be called “Pillow Princess” because of course it would be called that Too Faced
I live in Australia and we’ve had the Sundae body washes for YEARS now! It launched here in 2020, was pretty popular… but it’s still only sold at supermarkets and Priceline pharmacy 😆 They’ve really expanded their shade range since they’ve started and done some cute collabs with Aussie brands like Messina Gelato. Cool that they’re moving overseas! I tried the vanilla one and thought it was cool, but I just didn’t reach for it. Texture was really similar to shave foam.
When you’re almost 48 with mature skin by default you can avoid most of these trends because a lot of things just won’t work well for you . Not understanding polite society because the price points are very close to too faced anyways makes no sense
As a person with very little disposable income, who LOVES makeup and beauty, I understand the frustration with dupes but they’re like the only way I can also get these kind of products so I’m thankful for them always and would never wish them away.

The elf clicky pen lip gloss is ok, but the quality doesn’t match up to hourglass for me just because it feels a rushed out knockoff
I’m so sick of Niacinamide in everything!!! It used to be my favourite ingredient but because of overexposure I developed a sensitivity to it 😔 Now I have to look for skincare without it and its nearly impossible 😒
One thing about the "expensive hairdryer discussion" though... some girls spend $500 on makeup & skincare products at Sephora over the course of a few months, sooooo.... is it really that different from someone investing in a hairtool that lasts for years and that has the (unique) technology to style your hair while reducing heat damage on it? It's still expensive don't get me wrong, but I dunno, I just think it can be put into perspective in comparison to other shopping splurges.
I am so tempted by this one. I don't like using most sunscreen because of the smell. It feels like a chore similar to cleaning the toilet. I think the whipped cream foam might change the way I view sunscreen, leading to me using it more often. Right now, it is the least consistent part of my skincare process. As it is, I often decide that I don't want to smell the sunscreen, and I bypass putting it on, even though I know I should be wearing it. It's funny. Few people talk about the scent of the sunscreen when they review it. They talk about whether it has a white cast But they don't mention how strong the smell is. If I knew which ingredient causes the smell that I really don't like, I could look for brands that don't use it. I know there have to be sunscreens that don't smell like that because I have used several tinted moisturizers and foundations that have sunscreen. They don't have that weird smell. I know that foundation with sunscreen is not enough. So I think maybe doing something fun and a little silly with this foam might break me out of my negative Loop. :-)
@@rhyami Pacifica has a sunscreen spray that is heavily scented like coconut pineapple. The fragrance was too much for me, but it definitely didnt smell like sunscreen, more like a piña colada lol. But thats more of a face sunscreen. Have you looked into UV protective clothing like arm-gloves? I personally swear by them.
@@jacquelinealbin7712 thank you for your understanding and for your ideas. :-) You've given me some things to try that I hadn't thought about. I am going to go and do some research and see what I can find.
5 years ago, I heard of a hair dryer that would reduce heat that was available at best Buy for like $100. I can't confirm because I never ended up looking for one because I got a hand me down. The best hair dryer I ever used was a SUPER WEAK one that just couldn't even get hot at all, I still have it and it's gentle enough and dries my hair fast enough 😅
I just realized that another reason Ulta decided to change the sale was because Sephora was offering the same discount on the same products last year so they probably wanted to stop Sephora from copying their promos.
I use an old hair dryer from the 90s and it still works. I won't be buying a new 400$, which is about over a thousand of my countrie's currency, or any other hair dryer.
I LOVE MY E.L.F. DUPES!! Brozing drops come in 3 shades and as a fair skinned girly, i cant actually use the lightest shade! So many high end products have been duped by E.L.F. and they do it better IMO. They really focus on shade range and im here for it. I used to be the lightest shade in EVERY BRAND, with E.L.F. im the darkest fair shade!

Okay, but actually I am excited to check out the Tarte face palettes. I stopped wearing makeup between 2015-2022, which I feel like is when face palettes were a big thing. I am struggling to find a good face palette. I love most of Tartes cheek products, so hopefully this is good!
I’m so happy to learn that you like Glow Recipe’s Hue Drops too! I received them sometime in the last several days and cannot stop using them. They even play well with powder foundation. Big fan!
I actually think the Polite Society blush is actually VERY different from anything out there. It's extremely interesting. It's like a cream that quickly turns into a powder finish. It's almost like a powder blush stick. It's very cool! And I think very different.
I agree 100%! Everything feels like a total snooze. The last new product I remember being excited about because it was truly different is the Rare Beauty soft pinch blushes. I’m so bored by everything out there. I get bored in Sephora! Never thought that was possible!
I love your reviews , they r so informative. Im from Brazil and our Sephora doesn’t have a lot of brands that you frequently mention and are trendy (tower 28, saie, make up by mario, milk etc). U r amazing, love from Brazil❤❤❤
Kelly you would really like the Elf blushes, you definitely would not regret picking up a new shade imo!! They stay on so well and blend like a dream!!
I was so intrigued when I saw the new urban decay foundation but then Lisa Eldridge announced her new skin tint😍 so I decided to get it have you ever thought of purchasing any thing from her I think you will enjoy her brand 🥰
I have the always rosy elf blush and it’s my favourite blush. Did they change it or am I crazy? I’m pretty sure it’s always rosy that’s in my eye day makeup bag but it’s way more of a brick shade than that swatch 😅
I work in a beauty e-commerce so I always look at trends and brands, performances, etc. I think at this point, they just repeat what’s selling in the market. They know it works, so they won’t gamble. The competition is tough but if they can offer better price positioning, stronger marketing strategies, it could work and way less risky than completely innovating a new product. For example, ELF is killing it with dupe. Yes they dupe HARD but stronger marketing strategies, better prices and good formulation make it work. I think their financial performance was killing it last year.
I live for the jelly blushes and I’ll cry if I can never get it again. It’s the perfect stain for under sunscreen cause I can reapply without moving my blush
I think Milk is definitely going more gimmicky. That’s the first thing I thought when I first saw the new primer. I bought the NYX bronzer but I don’t know that I’m a fan. It is SUPER pigmented and I feel like it doesn’t blend out the easiest. Perhaps I’m using the wrong brush. I usually use the elf putty brush for both bronzer and blush (I have 2 separate ones) and it works for almost every cream bronzer I have but it doesn’t do the best with the NYX one.
My wedding is in June at a barn along the wheat fields, and that Urban Decay foundation/tint sounds like a dream!! Praying they have e a shade for us vampire pale gingers!! Haha
And they wonder why the fashion house and major luxury brands are thriving - gimmicks by far and large is a major disappointment that will never make me want to buy from the brand again - how can I trust your brand to perform if you don't take yourself and customers seriously? All of this pushes me more and more towards the level of Chanel and Dior, as with their prices and reputation and research and development, I may actually benefit whereas all these other brands are pricing themselves almost equivalently and reducing the quality or character/belief in themselves and their ideas in the same breath. I personally would rather be the "joke" suffering from paying top dollar but I want quality and a luxurious and aesthetically pleasing experience and performance over anything else
I understand why Polite Society released the products and shades that they did - because that’s what are trending, and they want to sell their products. The blush is, according to the brand, a powder blush in a stick form. I agree that we are seeing brands releasing the same things, because that’s what most people are buying. Same goes for Hailey Bieber. She has done so many “ blush looks “ go viral, so why don’t release her own blush and make some money. Celebrity brands tends to have a shorter lifespan, so why not strike while the iron is hot! 💕
Just an FYI that too much niacinamide may also trigger skin breakout to sensitive skin. I know that oftentimes skincare ingredients in makeup products do not absorb really well into the skin, but nowadays since many things include them just beware. For me, 5 to 10 percent niacinamide is enough for my oily skin.
I actually love the Vacation Classic Whip sunscreen for my body. I don't use it on my face, but I kind of love the way it's like whipped cream. It's fun to apply and tbh anything that encourages people to apply and reapply sunscreen is cool by me. Very proud of myself of not giving into the hype of those milk jelly stick things. Lol
Urban decay launched recently naked edit palettes. Mini naked palettes basically. Look it up lol they didn’t leave naked anywhere it’s still here and being in launches now
The dyson thing is getting out of hand now. Just use a reliable, affordable hairdryer on the lowest heat and you’ll be fine. I have wavy hair and always make sure the hairdryer is on a cool setting before using it and it does the job fine since I dry it about 75% of the way and let it airdry.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Milk foaming primer does. That canceled influencer had something similar, so it’s not a new thing. I’m personally not getting either, as I’m not a primer person.

You may have summoned “Naked” It’s still early in the year for urban decay 😮
The Ulta sale being week by week was so frustrating. I got the About Face eye paints and then clocked out, I don't care enough to check for weekly sales lmao, nah. Glad Ulta learned and won't do that again.
Same I snagged a bottle of perfume for half off and jetted 😂
I want those "boring" things, too! While shopping, brighter and weirder things always catch my eye as they are supposed to, but when doing my makeup routine, I hardly ever reach for them. I think plain products are easy to work with and suitable for plenty of different makeup styles, so it's worth investing in them. Very intrigued by the new palette by Mario.
I also feel like they are slowly but progressively bringing back 2017, I see more and more references on Pinterest. I am not a big fan of applying techniques that were used around that time, but I don't mind playing with new colors and textures inspired by that :)
My issue with innovative brands is that half of the innovation is completely unnecessary and rarely actually helpful
I’m so so happy to hear an influencer say they won’t support non cruelty free brands! It’s so frustrating to watch people give their money to brands that engage in animal testing just because they wrap their horrific practises in cute packaging. Subscribed because I heard you say that!! 🫶🏻
I am beyond excited for the Pokémon collaboration. My oldest is finally getting into Pokémon as well so I know we can share the collection.
I actually thought you were wearing blush and bronzer, which means the NYX bronzer is actually warm (even though it looks very cool in their picture). Too bad, as a cool toned girl I really wanted to try those but I guess I'll have to skip 😅
P.S. a $500 blow dryer? Me and my $25 one get along just fine!
Honestly baffled that people even buy these pricey dryers! Just get a decent hairdryer that comes with some attachments, they’re all over Amazon and have good reviews
There is already a 1000 dollar hairdryer. It's called the repronizer something
Love this video. You’re bringing big facts! We as consumers, need to open our eyes. We do not need to throw our money at every “new” recycled idea just because someone on TikTok tells us to.
Your makeup is literally serving 90s Mariah Carey and I am living ✨
My face when the first thing you mentioned is my eyeshadow palette 😮🥰 love your opinions as always!!
I always enjoy hearing your take on this industry. You have great instincts on the business side of beauty - and let's face it, beauty is all business! Your channel is so interesting, even to this 65 yo woman, for that reason. Thanks Kelly!
I'm older as well, and all these stupid trends are just sooooo not my interest. I won't take any recommendations from Ticktok lol
As a person with very little disposable income, who LOVES makeup and beauty, I understand the frustration with dupes but they’re like the only way I can also get these kind of products so I’m thankful for them always and would never wish them away.
I feel like back in 2014-15, a “dupe” was “omg I found a similar shade/effect for a fraction of the price but now it’s not even a dupe any more it’s just a cheap version. The elf clicky pen lip gloss is ok, but the quality doesn’t match up to hourglass for me just because it feels a rushed out knockoff
I’m so sick of Niacinamide in everything!!! It used to be my favourite ingredient but because of overexposure I developed a sensitivity to it 😔 Now I have to look for skincare without it and its nearly impossible 😒
it looks like there are more beige-y nude-y blushes and bronzers come to the drugstore and that makes me happy
Great video Kelly! Quick question-what shade of the NYX bronzer are you using?
I don't necessarily want niacinamide in my makeup, but I do want to try that UD foundation
Kelly Sephora has what Ulta has on sale daily!! Maybe not all but their main ones are also %50 off at Sephora!
The Vacation whipped sunscreen is such a gimmick but idgaf, I kind of love it. But I worry that I'd deadass try to eat it if I bought it lol
I do wonder how much protection really does that sunscreen have. So much gimmick sunscreens have shown to be underperforming when tested.
@@lipstickzombie4981 true. Vacation does seem pretty thorough in their R&D, at least, but I wouldn't say no to third-party SPF testing
I love the milk jelly tints! But as a lip product, not so much as a blush.
I love that you don't support non-cruelty free brands! thank you
5 years ago, I heard of a hair dryer that would reduce heat that was available at best Buy for like $100. I can't confirm because I never ended up looking for one because I got a hand me down. The best hair dryer I ever used was a SUPER WEAK one that just couldn't even get hot at all, I still have it and it's gentle enough and dries my hair fast enough 😅
my eyes rolled so far back when you mentioned “shape tape” for that tarte face palette 😅
Same! My dryer actually just died so I bought a $12 Revlon one on clearance at TJ Maxx 😂
What shade of the Nyx bronzer do you have? It feels like a satin/matte version of a Blonzer
I’d love to know too!!
Elf Primer Infused Blush I got another shade in. I still have mine and continuing to use my up but I love how naturally this goes on
I LOVE MY E.L.F.
Rhode is amazing, I got it to hate on it cuz I saw ppl dissing it online but ended up loving everything. Can't wait to get the blush
I thought those tarte palettes were stila
dude ur so right w old brands making new brands! the founder of stila has a new makeup brand called Neen but its actually a lot different and geared more towards sustainability. i have their mascara and i like it a lot
I’m so glad I never gave in to the hype and spent $500 on a hair tool. Conairs $15-$30 hair tools do the job just fine for me.
I have the Quickie concealer and love it , it self sets no powder needed if you don't want to which suits my mature under eyes .
Please do more makeup brands video essays! WHILE you do your makeup (satisfying).
I bought the Dyson Air Wrap. Really expensive, I know. I have very difficult hair, and now I am able to do my hair perfectly.
That peel off lip liner is hot garbage
Okay, but actually I am excited to check out the Tarte face palettes. I stopped wearing makeup between 2015-2022, which I feel like is when face palettes were a big thing. I am struggling to find a good face palette. I love most of Tartes cheek products, so hopefully this is good!
I'd definitely try the new powder cheek products from elf if i saw them in store. I've looked at the old shades many times, but nothing grabbed me.
Ok but what shade of the NYX bronzer did you buy? 01? Super intrigued!!
When I saw the Milk Foamy Primer, which is innovative, I thought instantly about a foamy blush. I can see this comming 🤭🤔🙈
This is gonna be the year of jelly stuff and foam stuff
I love your reviews , they r so informative. Im from Brazil and our Sephora doesn’t have a lot of brands that you frequently mention and are trendy (tower 28, saie, make up by mario, milk etc). U r amazing, love from Brazil❤❤❤
Doesn't morphed & Meredith Duxbery have a foaming primer, maybe nyx too?
Kelly you would really like the Elf blushes, you definitely would not regret picking up a new shade imo!! They stay on so well and blend like a dream!!
Kelly, what color in the Nyx buttermilk bronzer did you use?? It looks really pretty. ❤
I haven’t cared for anything from tarte in ages but I genuinely want to try that highlighter. I have enough blushes in my collection though.
Agree with polite society… except their lip balm formula is the best I’ve tried so far… it surpassed summer Fridays for me
I was so intrigued when I saw the new urban decay foundation but then Lisa Eldridge announced her new skin tint😍 so I decided to get it have you ever thought of purchasing any thing from her I think you will enjoy her brand 🥰
The polite society lip balm is the best one I’ve tried, and I’ve tried a lot of them.
I saw the Quickie concealer for the first time in store and thought it was a foundation until I read the signage. It's big!
Would you try Merle Norman makeup?
Lol
I love rosy tone bronzers because im fair and they dont look orange! Im glad they are a thing now!
Seems like the rise and fall of milk would be a good one in that series! …if you haven’t done it yet, I can’t remember
I am absolutely in love with this monochromatic bronze vibe ❤
Wasn’t Marc Jacob Beauty the OG clicky pen lipstick/balm ?
I thought the Tarte palette was Hourglass. ( I just got back into makeup with the pandemic, after a 10-year hiatus, so I missed the Stila palette.)
I absolutely love the naked skin and stay naked foundation one of my favorites.
Your makeup looks great. Can you share the color of nyx bronzer you're wearing?😊
It’ll be interesting to see how the Milk foaming primer does. That canceled influencer had something similar, so it’s not a new thing. I’m personally not getting either, as I’m not a primer person.
I am SO impressed with the NYX bronzer! I haven’t stopped using it since I got it and I’m loyal to my Gucci bronzer so that’s saying something! It’s so buttery and I find that it blurs. 10/10 😍
Living for all the rosy bronzers because when I’m tan, I’m a true cinnamon stick shade
I loved the sass in this video. Lollll things have been stale I totally agree! I loled at we lost the plot with tarte shape tape. I also giggled when you said no more clicky pen lip balms.
I love your videos Kelly! How can you make everything so interesting? I love hearing your voice in the background during my day. Even if I have no idea what you're talking about I'm always nodding along!
I love your background! It’s so pretty 🤍
