Also a couple other things to add, the modretro games do work on original hardware, that problem you were having was due to the cartridge not being read, most likely due to dirty pins in the slot. Also, the weird color thing that was happening with the pocket was due to you playing in original gameboy mode. Since it’s technically a gameboy color game you want to play it in gameboy color mode. Nonetheless great comparison of the two!
What difference would adding an OLED to this Chromatic make? Is the screen not bright enough or the colours off or the contrast wrong or the pixels not correct or the viewing angle bad or some other reason why you'd want an OLED screen over the one that's in there now?
@@JGLCSW Yeah, I think it a case of someone just going to some default thinking before truly asking if it really is needed at all. And, honestly, cannot for the life of me see why the current screen in the Chromatic would not be good enough for everyone other than people who like products for how great they actually are to use and play with, but rather what things they can tick on some list of new features or something. Yeah, from what I can see, the screen on the Chromatic looks great. And most reviews I've seen have echoed this too. Of course, I'll have one myself soon enough, so then I'll know firsthand what the real deal is.
@ after searching on Reddit you’re right. Only a select number of the first units shipped have the sd card reader. They left the spot for the reader on the pcb though, so people can solder one on if they want to
So would you pay the premium for either the Analogue Pocket or the Modretro Chromatic?
They are sold out, with exception of the GameStop exclusive color

You can do different color pallette for a GB games just check out the online manual.
But can you get one that is akin to the originals' specific four shades of yellowy green?

I was thinking the same thing regarding an OLED screen, what's the point?

There actually is an sd card slot on the motherboard, it’s just not being used for anything. For now at least ;)
That's only on a certain batch. Mine doesn't have an microSD reader
@ you took it apart and looked at the pcb? I’m almost positive they all have them
