Stephanie has always been extraordinarily perceptive but she's also had blind spots where Brooke is concerned. And here we get a good example of that. She clocks Brooke's _reasoning_ for not wanting to relinquish the stock (14:10 "Perhaps she sees a day when she might need it") and correctly connects it to a problem in Brooke's marriage, but she misreads Brooke's _character_ by assuming that Brooke might want to leave Ridge rather than the other way around. Fittingly this half-blind reading of the plot is occurring opposite her half-blind son. And Ridge then reaffirms Stephanie's perceptiveness by asking her to meet the volunteer and be his eyes.
This is a part of Stephanie's character that never rang entirely true to me - her assumption that Brooke would want to have affairs with random men (like when she had the camera in the lab and for some reason _didn't_ realize that the man Brooke was having s ex with was Ridge). Brooke would _never_ willingly give up the object of her obsession.
@@annieo6527 I think this was always the show's way of indicating that Stephanie has a blind spot when it comes to "reading" Brooke (despite her extraordinary perceptiveness otherwise). Taylor seems so out of reality in pretending that nothing has changed during her absence. She appears more self-confident now than when she used to live under the same roof with Ridge!
I have to say, Taylor's attitude is beginning to an noy me. She keeps acting as if she is not responsible for this *extremely contrived* charade where instead of simply saying she's alive, she wears one disguise after another, revealing herself to Brooke and then acting as if it were still an option _not_ to reveal herself to Ridge. She also doesn't quite seem to take into account that she has a husband in Morocco and an out of tune choir of orphans who miss her - instead she's totally focused on Ridge even though, by her own choice, she has stayed away from him for months. At this point, she has simply stalled for too long, for no good reason, and her claim to Ridge is getting weaker by the minute.
Me too. And it's only going to get _more_ an no y ing from here on when she reveals herself to Stephanie and Ridge and maddeningly refuses to just tell the Morocco story straight! 😖
This Taylor is giving me a headache! And I can't see the end of it, because her behaviour is going to be even more annoying. After the reveal she will practically be delusional thinking everything is going to be ok and that she will have back her life as it was a year before. The talk with Connor is an example. She can't figure out anything, she has lost it completely. Her character was exiled for too long and now she struggles to be accepted again. Brad damaged her completely. She is more of a stranger than an outsider even to her fans eyes.
For the life of me, I still cannot figure why the writers chose to let James be the first to find out Taylor was alive, esp given that now his storyline has gone in such a different direction that it doesn't matter at this time whether he knows or not. It should have always been Steph who was to find Taylor alive.. That would have made for a much more interesting Steph /Brooke /Taylor storyline and it would have allowed Taylor to at least have a strong character in her corner (ie Steph) so she wouldn't be making all these crazy decisions. Right now, of all the people who know she is alive, they are either against her (Omar, Brooke, Connor) or supportive but too weak/side characters to make a difference (Jack, Gladys, and James to an extent). This now leaves Taylor making the strangest, time dragging decisions, and sounding like she alone is responsible for helping everyone thru finding out she isn't dead, when she actually needs help herself.
From reading this I was reminded of when Caroline was trying to get out of her marriage and everyone in her life (except her work friend Valerie) were against her. Of course the dynamics of the story were different. Stephanie was more involved and of course Caroline was a more interesting character than Taylor.
@@Esi-741 but it sorta is the same dynamic in that just like Taylor, Caro was trying to do the right thing by everyone (an impossible task) and carrying that burden on her shoulders by herself. The problem for me isn't just being mad with Taylor for not telling Ridge she's alive. It's her inexplicable motivations for doing what she is doing. That knock on her head, followed by gaslighting by Omar, has clearly done her in and has her not thinking straight. That's the only explanation for her deciding not to tell Ridge she's alive, marrying her captor, then deciding to tell Ridge she's alive but now playing along with a stupid game made up by Brooke. First she didn't want to interrupt Ridge's life, then she didn't want to hurt the kids, then she wants her life back, now she is back to the kids as the reason she's holding off on coming clean....🥴🤕 None of it makes any sense. Anthony offering to have a drink with Macy is another example of a "mirror scene" in the palindrome that is Anthony's story (point 5 on my list from episode 1956) - we had a scene like this early on when Macy was tempted to drink and Anthony suggested they have a drink together (episode 1679). That time he was using reverse psychology to _stop_ her from drinking, this time he _wants_ her to drink. And although he makes the offer look spontaneous and thoughtless, as if he had forgotten for a brief moment that she is an alcoholic, we can see that it was actually a calculated move on his part because _there was already a second glass on the table,_ showing that Anthony had intended to share the alcohol with Macy all along.
👌 And Macy isn't really tempted at all this time. She quickly rejects the drink and moves on (tightening her robe as well as if she's also refusing to "tempt" Anthony or to give him any access to her). This shows how much Macy has grown. She's a much stronger character now and thus better equipped to eventually turn the tables on Anthony.
@@NewYorkNick0607 exactly - the ease with which Macy resists the "temp tation" of alcohol this time is also a representation of her strength to resist Anthony (who, as I have said before, has always been like a personification of her alcoholism in that he has had virtually the same effect on her and her close relationships as the alcohol did). This link between Anthony and alcohol, and the effect they have (or don't have) on Macy, will also be revisited in their final scene together, where Macy asks Anthony for a drink (which she then barely touches) at the same time that she pretends that she is going to sleep with him (but having no intention of doing so).

Either that or they struggle to find any long-term storyline potential for her. It's unfortunate that someone who should be a core character, is consistently sidelined and written as a moron.
I have always found Taylor's character somewhat poorly defined. Her strongest defining trait is her "therapist mode", but outside of that role (professionally or personally) I have always found it difficult to answer the question "what is Taylor like?" Especially now that she no longer qualifies as an "overthinking Good Girl" there's no defining character trait left beyond loving Ridge.
@@annieo6527 that's exactly why she's never stood a chance on this show unless she's tied to a love triangle involving Ridge and/or Brooke. Any attempts to take her out of these characters' orbits (i.e.: the Thorne/Darla storyline) have been short-lived.
TAYLOR! Stop being so damn mysterious. Just tell them what happened to you. By ly8ng and omitting the truth. You are becaiming more and more selfish. And making the marriage and time in moreoco more mysterious than it needs to be.
I'm the first to complain about Taylor's character since she came back in LA. But jeez, she is completely alone. Jack doesn't count as character in the plot. James is jaled, Omar manipulated her. My point is that the writers didn't give her someone to take really care of her in that SL. Writers didn't want Stephanie to find Taylor's alive. But Connor could have been her saviour, the reason she had lost and a great romance. My point is that everytime she suffered nobody acknowledged her pain unlike the alleged heroine of the show. Not in Scotland when she kissed James (after finding out Bridge kiss on a newspaper); not after the earthquake when she got intimate with James (Stephanie will be very harsh with her); not after the Moroccan sl.
Taylor also didn't really give any much chance to really care as she never opened up to anyone and just referred to everyone as *It is complicated* . Here we have her talking to Connor and they addressing that Morocco marriage. The writing has put Taylor into that strange position that she can't defend herself to anyone and talk about how Omar has hold her captive and didn't allow her to talk to Ridge, how Omar had set her up to watch the newly married couple, when Taylor later allowed Ridge to leave and she then married Omar, her jailor. Connor knows that James has been there in Morocco to help Taylor if she would have wanted to flee from the palace, but Taylor played a charade then too and sent James away. If Taylor would have just blamed Omar and would have treated him as the villain, she could have had James or Connor backing her (maybe even hiring Connor to have that marriage annulled and to go and call out Omar (in the US) on her captivity). But it is difficult for others to care, if she still can't explain her reasons to anyone.
@@mara4450the writing didn't give her the right character, aka Stephanie to think properly. We all have just forgotten the pain and the belwilderment she has gone through and nobody will understand because the script will avoid her story.

Darla is actually way smarter than she appears. She is more like Gladys than like Taylor - she doesn't complicate or overthink things, but that can be an advantage because it means seeing the obvious for what it actually is. As for Macy, I think early Caroline is a good comparison because she displays a kind of naiveté that is waiting to be shattered through quite a dramatic awakening. And Anthony is Macy's Ron Deacon.

@@annieo6527 that's exactly why she's never stood a chance on this show unless she's tied to a love triangle involving Ridge and/or Brooke. Any attempts to take her out of these characters' orbits (i.e.: the Thorne/Darla storyline) have been short-lived.
Something out of Pulp Fiction !! 😂😂 Almost as strange as Clark and Sally !!
So Taylor is out and about without a disguise? Surely she's worried about being recognised 🙄
It doesn’t even occur to Sheila to go to the Dr
TAYLOR! Stop being so damn mysterious. Just tell them what happened to you. By ly8ng and omitting the truth. You are becaiming more and more selfish. And making the marriage and time in moreoco more mysterious than it needs to be.
yes we needs to put things in motion wea are dying out of bordem
@@babs4848Only Taylor fans like you and me could feel compassion towards her👍
Which is why Stephanie should have went with James to get her or something
Thank you. ❤❤❤
Macy is as naive as Caroline was in the beginning! Taylor has almost been reduced to Darla's dingbat league!
Brunettes are always being written as either weak or clingy (Taylor, Macy, Felicia) or wicked and conniving (Sheila, Margo).
I like this hair taxonomy of the B&B women! 😄
@@NewYorkNick0607 You just reminded me of that one time when I was still fresh off the boat from Bum F~ Balkans and thought taxonomy was a course about how taxes work 🤭
@@Esi-741 That would be a funny line on the sitcom _Balking_ followed by the even funnier reaction of the lead character when she goes to school and her classmate shows her a picture of her child. 😉
@@NewYorkNick0607 🤣🤣 I guess I’m part Darla part Margo 😜
Darla is actually way smarter than she appears. She is more like Gladys than like Taylor - she doesn't complicate or overthink things, but that can be an advantage because it means seeing the obvious for what it actually is.
As for Macy, I think early Caroline is a good comparison because she displays a kind of naiveté that is waiting to be shattered through quite a dramatic awakening. And Anthony is Macy's Ron Deacon.
FINALLY! Connor speaks the truth. “Taylor, you’re only here for yourself.” He calls out Taylor’s passive / aggressive manipulative self.
And somehow being selfish isn't wrong... Brooke has always been self serving... Using everything at her disposal even her children.. Her work.. To achieve her goals
@@candacecyrus1815true! And Brooke's the most manipulative character too!
VB sorry I didn’t reply before it ended our girl said she was going through health issues not sure, let’s keep her in our thoughts and prayers
Thanks KC ( even though I'm not VB) 🌞

This whatever you call it between James and Shelia is so ridiculous it is hard to watch!!!
STEPHANIE looks thinner again
At least Ridge does not think for a minute that Brooke could chose another man and her stock over having Ridge.
When Is The Bold & The Beautiful Season 9 Starts
How many episodes are there in season 8?
LOL: Connor says to Taylor: the only person you're there to help is yourself. Bingo. Now, Taylor, as James said: be selfish. Put a plan together and don't go by the direction of the winds.
The hideous white satin shoulder-padded nanna-nightie on Macy though 😂
Macy???!!! 🤮🤮🤮
I want Taylor to go back to Morocco
Thankfully she won't!
I am gonna make Moroccan foods
I want Brooke to go to Barbados!😂

Again the hint that Taylor is insecure if Ridge will choose her. She seems secure, but then she would have revealed herself to Ridge long ago.
Yup. And stephaine winds up being an obstical not an ally at least for awhile.
