If you want to be heard then an air horn is the way to go. Some folks call it a train horn but one thing is for sure they are loud! This video demonstrates how to the wiring is connected on an air train horn. This is part one of three part series and goes into depth on how to wire the horn air compressor and horn solenoid with an in dash switch. We just installed a hornblaster kit on my sons’ 2019 Ford 150 and couldn’t have done it correctly the first time without your whiteboard diagram! Super helpful! You’re absolutely right with regard to time to completion. Took us two days not a few hours and the lack of directions/guidance that were provided by Hornblasters was very disappointing. This is the only video I have found that covers the solenoid on a truck horn.
All the other videos assume that you have standard air horns.

Could I add a inline on/off switch after the 5A fuse at the power distribution block and before the pressure switch? That way the the compressor will only kick on if the ignition is on and the switch is on. Thank you so much. This video explains this better than anyone else.
Wired up a train horn on my dually service truck last year. Being a plumber I can follow a diagram but had no idea how it worked. Quit working on me last week. Got mad trouble shooting and snatched all the wiring out. Good news is this video gave me the full picture and knowledge to get it back functioning properly. Bad news is I should’ve watched it before snatching it all out… now that I know what’s going on I either had a bad ground or my pressure switch failed. I’m going to say the switch failed to save me from the embarrassment of a bad ground wire being the cause. Thank you for the information.

Great Video! I was thinking of running the compressor to the 30amp up-fitter switch on my Raptor instead of the fuse box. Would that work to control the power to the compressor, and then when that is on, the button on the horn side would then be allowed to sound the horns? Interested in your thoughts! Thanks!

I already told you about my S15 air horns, but I got that idea from my dad. He put a set of Euro air horns (high pitched) under the hood of his '84 Ramcharger. One day we were coming back from my grandma's place right on the edge of the city, and this guy was standing out in the road shoveling the snowbank in front of his driveway. My dad let 'er rip, and the shovel went airborne, and the guy went down! My dad was roaring! That guy wasn't too happy with us, HAHAHAHA! MA life!
I installed my compressors in the Silverado with a switch as well. When I was looking at the supplied wiring diagram and seeing only the pressure switch controlling the circuit, I knew that wouldn't fly. I put a switch in the cab, between my legs under the dash. Biggest problem is, the compressor shuts off, then I forget and leave the switch on! I've flattened the battery a few times over the past 7 years as the thing cycled all night long. I've tried to fix every leak in the system, but now I've got so many air lines between the air bags, in-cab air bag controller, and the Ox Locker, that I have a million leak points. It only leaks in cold weather. In the summer, the pressure gauge will stay put for a month. The colder it is, the faster it leaks. Can't spray anything in these temps because it freezes almost instantly. Fire up the Face Melter and warm the shop up, the leaks stop! It's infuriating. I have to keep hitting the air switch to keep the bags minimally inflated. 1st world problems, lol. Life has been much worse! :)

I’ve had issues with my switch. I have a momentary switch wired up on the positive side and every time I hit the button the truck dies. I’m grounded from the solenoid right to frame and positive to battery, with only the fuse and switch. Can’t figure out why it does that, any help???
What if the pressure and compressor were connected together do I cut it and do it separately like your diagram? It comes hooked up together from the manufacture
It is simpler if they are wired together. You dont need a relay. Just conect the hot to ignition on power and your compressor runs independent maintaining max pressure at all times. Connect the horn silinoid to you horn button.

Does the solenoid need to be mounted to the horn or can you mount it in the tank and run an air line with fittings to the horn? I have a fitment issue. Thanks!
The horn installed in the video has it's own solenoid built in. If it is not energized air will not flow through to operate. What is your specific fitment issue?

My compressor only has 2 wires?
Mine also. I would assume the pressure switch is built in with the two leads. But I'm having the same issue lol.
You have to wire the pressure switch to a relay that provides power to the compressor all of your 12/24 volt compressors only have 2 wires
On my unit the pressure sensor is wired into the compressor already, so could I run power straight from the battery, to a switch, to the 86 port and it would essentially work the same? Rather than it run on keyed power, it runs when the switch is turned on?
Did you figure it out and how did you use the relay
Is there any reason why I should connect the horn button/momentary switch directly to the battery as opposed to getting power from the fuse panel? I don't really want to run another wire when I have a fuse panel near the button. Thanks!!
That works, make sure it is the correct amperage or you might let the magic smoke out.
Any idea why horn blows as soon as my ir starts to pump iv swapped the horn wires unhooked them and even tired directly to 12v source with button .... solenoid clicks when hit horn but still blows no matter what
You might have a short somewhere. It's almost impossible to diagnose over the internet. Hope you figure it out.
@ozzstars_cars I even hooked it to a 12v test battery completely out of the system .. are these solenoids not always closed till switched on? Like I said clicks and does everything as should but valve don't change
So can i put a switch in the 86 wire to control the pump when the vehicle is on?

@@karimsalem86 Why not use a bigger tank and one compressor?
@@ozzstars_cars it's a 5 gallon tank which can hold enough volume. The dual compressors are to fill it twice as fast.

So is it possible to just run it all the time hot without the relay or ignition source and just put a switch after the fuse to turn compressor on and off without using the pressure switch?

Kind of threw me off. Not a lot. But for pressure switch there both hot 12v. Correct? I got confused when you mentioned 86 needs a ground. But it’s all hot..? Sorry confused a bit.
I suggest you rewatch the video and take notes to get a better understanding. The pressure switch is wired hot .

My tank has only two wires…the pressure switch is connected to the tank….my question is where does my switch go & what pin on the relay do I tap into using a 5 pin relay? Thank you in advance.

I wired my relay up exactly the same and did my pressure switch the same exact way and my compressor is not kicking on the only thing I did different was ran my relay ground to the battery
Time to bust out the multimeter and find the open in the circuit.

my compressor has the "ps" with just a negative coming off both pins...(negative off compressor to ps and negative to ground?)

Switches don't provide power, they interrupt power and ground.

Why would you need a relay to work a pressure switch. Just wire the pressure switch directly to ignition on power and ground. It will run independent of anything else. Then run a horn button to the horn solenoid. You dont need a relay at all.

There is no horn switch for the compressor circuit. You may want to watch the left diagram discussion again.
