    Very useful video for my lessons, thanks.

    my only question is whether there has been resistance from viruses and bacteria to alcohol, iodine, hydrogen peroxide

    Quite a fascinating demonstration that makes me both scientifically curious about the microscopic world around us and want to take a shower at the same time.
    Also, I'm a bit confused by the 'board' she used to project the experiment onto. Was it chosen because it's visually more interesting than a plain whiteboard or screen? Is there something special about this 'board' that I'm unaware of? Did they just not care where they were going to show the experiment and just grabbed what was easiest to find?
    I genuinely would like these questions to be answered, despite how petty and simple they might sound.

      on 1:06 you can see some kind of name tags ..I guess some antibiotics marks or something

    Look at the soil on that pig farm. Nature's rotovators. Those pigs have got a field ready for crops and they make bacon and ham. The pig is easily the greatest of animals.

      I think nature's plough would be the earthworm, at least that's what Darwin said.

      tavi921 Well,it's not only what Darwin says ... it's the truth.Worms are the natural plow,just like moles but moles are more like excavators :)

    I know that jars of jam can be preserved with sugar but I'm wondering, is it possible to take a jar a of jam with no sugar and once bacteria infest it put some of those bacteria in the jar with some sugar but less than the normal amount, and some of the stronger ones will survive then multiply to infest it then put some of those bacteria in the jar with the full amount of sugar and some of the even stronger ones will survive then multiply to infest it.

    Where is the Original footage of the bacteria experiment?
    Its a perfect demonstration for live evolution
    would like to confront some creationists with that

    Maybe I am thinking wrong, but doesn't those "wall tests" actually teach bacteria to evolve as well?
    Is it possible to do isolated bacteria tests? As in, see how bacteria evolves and then totally kill the bacteria? Letting loose a bacteria that has evolved into the outside world seems really dangerous?

    • @RisinT96
      @RisinT96 9 років тому

      I believe after the test was finished they killed all the bacteria.

    • @ataarono
      @ataarono 9 років тому

      its not dangerous when resistant bacteria are everywhere already

      if you do that experiment, the bacteria get incinerated at the end. unless you want to create a biological weapon and/or multi-resistant bacteria, then you keep doing it and keep switching out the antibiotic.

    • @McFarJordan
      @McFarJordan 9 років тому

      Strain destroyed after and they wouldn't use anything harmful, if there was an 'outbreak' of this bacteria it would probably just cause a few people to get the common cold.

      do you know the difference between a virus and a bacteria? there is no virus in this video.

  • @TheVin4enco

    So what happens when the bacteria becomes resistant to all known antibiotics ?

    • @kurtilein3
      @kurtilein3 9 років тому +1

      people die or have severe complications from infected wounds or other minor infections, just like it used to be in the dark ages. worst case scenario: certain types of surgery that require antibiotics, basically any large surgery, might become too risky.

      We make more antibiotics, but it becomes harder to make new ones every time we discover one more..

      As a Muslim, Islam tells us that there is a cure for every disease, maybe not found yet, but it will be.
      Except for aging (getting old), there is no cure for that.
