Man you need to be a Subaru salesman...you’d be the sales champ at any dealership. I’m ready to go out and buy one of these after watching the video. Nice job!
Thank you so much for your compliments! It's simply my passion! I love cars and especially WRX/STIs. They are a ton of fun! Thank you so much for watching!
I'm so glad you mentioned the reliability on these cars! Subaru makes these cars pretty darn reliable from what ive seen. Those who get those blown engines are the kids who absue them doing donuts, launches, driving it hard before it's properly warmed up, and soo much more. They aren't corolla bulletproof, but as long as you drive maturely and do proper maintenance they will last! I've modded my 2018 with some proper quality materials and a pro tune! Car has handled beautifully for the past 5k miles with no burning oil or any check engine lights!
I'm right there with you! If you take care of your STI it will take care of you. Like you said though there are plenty of people abusing the hell out of their Subarus and that is where you can run into some issues!
Would be smart to stick with one of these or a 2016 until 2020, apparently its a complete redo instead of a refresh. Can't wait to see what they have coming up, I've always liked them but never owned one though I've had a chassis once and it just never got done. I hope they do more than change the look, maybe a turbo boxer 6 or go blasphemous and put a straight six in it this time. Thanks for a great review Joe, cheers!
I'd take the taller tires (18" v. 19" rims) for the roads up in the mid-atlantic and NE USA to help mitigate winter road damage -- the potholes are still widespread in PA. In fact, I'd probably research 17" rims for snows or even summers if the correct tire diameter could be achieved and the rims ID could fit the brakes.
YasumotoUS i live in philly and the potholes r so bad ever since about 2014 that i had to get rid of my evo 8 destroyed my rims and suspension then i got a 14 evo x but i didn't like it and traded it for a 17 sti limited and live it but u r 100 percent right on the potholes
One of those perfect sedans for an average mature enthusiast. It's just a shame Subaru not offering the Levorg to the US market. One of those perfect family wagons. Great stuff Joe...
Another great video thanks! Can’t wait to see what they do for 2020. This design is getting a little old .I was looking at these a lot ! before I bought my current car .After I didn’t I was E- Mailed by Someone from Subaru . I told them I would have bought a hatch if they still made it. She said well I can’t say anything but keep an eye out for what’s coming for the 2020 model.
Thank you so much for your compliments they really keep me motivated! I really am excited and curious for what 2020 will bring from Subaru! My fingers are crossed it is something worth the wait!
You don't see many of the sleeper STI cars. I actually prefer those sleepers. Glad to see the fog lights too.... :D Limited STI way to go.... Not a fan of cop attraction wings. I also wish they had given the WRX the center diff options as an upgrade. Although I guess you don't need it in Florida, lol.
from what i've seen and i was looking for months and the base 17 sti and limited 17 sti have been basically the same price so i got the wingless one and love it
Raiti's Rides two of my friends have stis amazing cars the handling is so precise... I'm in the market for a used focus ST I'm crazy about the RS those cars are so much fun to drive You can't get bored of them at all. If I get to choose RS STI or Golf R RS in a heart beat...
I wanted to buy a white STI but the dealership wouldn't budge on 38K. It was a used 2017 with 10K miles and it was literally sitting right next to two brand new STIs with the 36K MSRP sticker. The guy said it was a "hot color". I don't blame them; they know some fool will pay that much for it. I ended up going with a black one, 2017, 11K miles, for 32,500 at a different dealership.
You really can't go wrong with any of them, but I really feel like the Focus RS has that little extra something. Especially since I recently got to drive one on a track!
I was watching a report on these 6.1 percent of owners trade these in. i would wait 1-2 years and the price will be cheaper even tho they hold there value.Ive seen 2017 Sti's for sale for like 33k and that was for a white STI and it's like $800 more for a white. I would just save up the money and pay for it in full they're over 43k new
Very good points that you bring to the table. I am in the same boat as you! I would go the route of just getting a new one. Especially for 2019 there are some nice changes like Apple Carplay and some of the goodies from the Type RA!
Hey Raiti I was just gonna say I love your videos and saw your story on how you were a pro race car driver and retired doing youtube videos. I'm glad you encouraged those of us who are thinking about this because your proof it can be done. I'm no professional race car driver, but was a professional in a different area within my military career until I got injured and sent home. I've been wondering what to do for a long time now and tried the whole college thing without any real direction so I've been wondering about doing something with youtube. By the way, I live in Wisconsin and am looking to buy something fun to drive as well as to be able to handle the winters here. Would the Subaru wrx sti be a good option or do you think I would get tired of it? Take Care Chris
The 2018 wrx sti i don't like the 19" wheels being colored blackish and I don't like the yellow colored brake calipers, however I do like the Type RA everything is cool about that except for the price-i think they still have one at a local dealership that is still new and not bought yet!
I love the looks of the Type RA but yes the price is just a little out of control! There is one at Subaru of Port Richey. It's my favorite color combo of all time. It's WR Blue with Gold wheels!
The only thing that prob holding me back getting a STi of my own is the price tag in Singapore. It a whooping 175,800 dollars!!! Eeks!!! And the EJ25 while a great engine. Will meet its demise in the 2020 STi. The WRX already has the updated FA20 turbo engine which is way more fuel efficient because of the direct fuel injection and multi port injection system and higher compression for better fuel burning. The only drawback with the new FA20 isnt the ringland failure but now the con-rods... *facesmack* Really? Subaru?
That is a crazy high price tag! I think you hit the nail on the head with the engine issues. I know Subaru can do better than this! We will see what 2020 brings!
I'm surprised the dealer doesn't have you on retainer, or do they? :-) One thing is for sure, the owner should make it mandatory that his sales personnel whatch your video. I'm sure they would learn a thing of two . . . . . or a baker's dozen worth of information. What a great detailed review. On a different note, what's the story with yellow 2-door coupe next to this sedan? Maybe it too should be reviewed?
I wish the dealer did! lol . I really appreciate you saying those kind things. The GM does actually tell his salespeople to watch which I think is so cool. Guess what Peter..... DONE DEAL :-) ua-cam.com/video/VO6CUyc8800/v-deo.html
Well, sometimes one misses a shift and sometimes one misses a video. Trying to keep up with your videos I think I've developed Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. lol Then again, I've been trying to catch up on all the past videos I missed prior to me subscribing. I guess I just fell asleep at the switch. :-) Lesson learned is not to enter into a footrace with you, even if I'm wearing Pumas but maybe I should purchase a pair to just wack myself in the head to keep me awake. Nah, doing that would just aggravate my CTS. Oh what a viscous cycle. LOL
Peter I am a hard guy to keep up with. I'm trying to be unique here in the world of UA-cam, and keep uploading a video per day. There are so many great cars out there and such little time. PS I just filmed a Corvette Grand Sport yesterday....stay tuned!
buy new. even skip the 2018 wrx. i would rather look in to the new 2019 sti's have reinforced pistons just like the RA model along with a more aggressive tune/adjusted final drive (+5-10 HP). it basically has bits from the RA model for a lot cheaper not to mention apple carplay.
Great video, keep up the good work! I have a MY16 STI Premium here in Australia in the same colour white but with the spoiler. Our top model in Australia is called the Premium.
Thank you so much for the compliment! I love white on an STI! I wish they still offered the gold wheels, at least as an option for those that want it. I find it very interesting how in different countries there are different options and names given for those options.
Funny you mentioned ringland issues. It’s mainly caused by people who A.) beat the shit out of these cars. B.) mod the shit out of them and not getting the proper tune. Or C.) both A and B. 😅
I was under the impression that 2020 was the year since some Subaru insiders had announced that at the last international car show. It would be the perfect time! I have my fingers crossed!
gen3v8 yes it does, 2017 also has a bigger infotainment screen as compared to 15 and 16, also the sti performance exhaust becomes standard. I own one my self.
Your reviews remind me of "Joe Tunney's in 3 minutes, you'll be an expert" reviews.. Talks about a lot of things not pertaining to this specific vehicle, then gives erroneous info. As you can now see, the 2020 STI is still the same vehicle. I know this was filmed 2 years ago, but still. But, that is my 2 cents worth, no one else's.

I like the face on this one better then the 2018. The fog lights make it look better also. The 2018 nose i'm not a fan of.
You are definetly not alone in those thoughts! Thanks for your great comments!
Would be smart to stick with one of these or a 2016 until 2020, apparently its a complete redo instead of a refresh. Can't wait to see what they have coming up, I've always liked them but never owned one though I've had a chassis once and it just never got done. I think that would be the sire decision! Something big is coming! I just hope it is worth the wait! Thanks again for your great input!

Here we are 2020, my new sti ain't here yet raiti!!! Jk. As the new brz post... anticipation makes the heart grow fonder...2022
always enjoy your knowledge and the effort you put into reviews
I really appreciate you taking the time to say that. It really means a lot and helps keep me motivated!
You sure know how to review a car man!! Great work, keep it up!! You just gained yourself a new sub💯🤝
That really means a lot! Thanks you for joining the Raiti's Rides family!
That is a sexy car, it's different like a NASCAR.
I am so glad that you like this one.
It's a grand preasure than you show us cars where in countries as my county doesn't exist them and I am surprised the variety of models
Well I am glad you are enjoying them! That is what I really like to do. Stay tuned for more!
I've always liked the Sti..one of my dream cars is a pearl white hatchback sti
that slow goat they are amazing cars an you really can’t beat that color!
This guy needs more subscribers
I really appreciate you saying that!
One of those perfect sedans for an average mature enthusiast. It's just a shame Subaru not offering the Levorg to the US market. One of those perfect family wagons.
Great stuff Joe...
You hit the nail on the head! I think the Levorg would be a great addition to their lineup here in the States! I appreciate your awesome support!
Thanks Joe 8)
You Americans miss the Levorg, but us Aussies miss the Ascent. Weird coz' Subaru is very strong on both continents. Oh well... :)
It's crazy how that works out! I wonder if the Brits miss the STI since it was axed.
I've always been tempted to get an STi .... great vid
Thank you once again for your compliments! They are really great cars and a ton of fun!
Just do it...I broke the bank and bought an '18, and I don't regret it a bit!!
I got the '18 as well definitely worth it, by the time 2021 comes around I can move up to the new STI or just keep mine if I don't like the new design
You have one hell of an STI!
Very well done! I totally agree with you!
Your reviews are my favorite ❤️ I still watch all your old STI reviews!
I like that Subaru is making a new WRX and I hope they bring back the hatchback but I'm not giving up my Mustang GT for one.
It will be interesting what the next generation of WRX/STI is going to be like!
padistedor you're right the hatch I my opinion it's way better looking. I just got my 2013 wrx hatch
Super nice Ride. Great in-depth overview Joe.
Thank you sir for watching and taking the time to comment!

alphazoom II I’m so glad you liked this! Trust me we have a lot of sand down here! That center diff would come in handy!😊👍🏻
from what i've seen and i was looking for months and the base 17 sti and limited 17 sti have been basically the same price so i got the wingless one and love it
I just cant get behind a preowned sti the premium i see dealers charging you might as well get new
I can see what you are saying, A lot of it has to do with Subarus holding their value very well.
Raiti's Rides two of my friends have stis amazing cars the handling is so precise... I'm in the market for a used focus ST I'm crazy about the RS those cars are so much fun to drive You can't get bored of them at all. If I get to choose RS STI or Golf R RS in a heart beat...

only thing i don't like on my 17 sti limited is the sun roof
Same, never use it would rather have less weight and one less thing that could go wrong

You won't buy the STi for it's fuel economy
Pogs you are 💯 correct.
That's the exact car an color I'm getting 😊
You are going to be a happy camper! Well done!

The new WRX and STI come out in roughly 1.5- 2 years. Buying one new now is just a waste. just wait for the new platform.
I hope and pray it is worth the wait!
Agreed, but I'd wait till common problems are addressed before actually getting the new one. Unless you like to experience them yourself 🤗
I can totally agree with that!
"New" model will be the same
I want the sexually transmitted infection edition 😂
I have been waiting months for someone to finally say something! You made my day!
Raiti's Rides that was a really funny joke 😂
I'm so glad you caught it! 9no pun intended) LMAO
Raiti's Rides 😮😂
II'm glad I could make you laugh!
I love your reviews man! keep it up! :)
Thank you so much for taking the time to say that! I really appreciate your support!

Raiti's Rides no problem, big fan of your channel 👍🏽 !
Hi! Is 2020 upgraded pistons as well?
thanx for the sti content👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
Of course! I am so glad that you like it!
What you think about a 2017 sti unlimited? Worth buying it now at 2021?

You have to hear it in person!
Funny you mentioned ringland issues. It’s mainly caused by people who A.) beat the shit out of these cars. B.) mod the shit out of them and not getting the proper tune. Or C.) both A and B. 😅
What month is the 2020 version expected to drop
Not until 4th quarter.
Great review!
Thank you for taking the time to comment!
Good advice bro thanks!!
You are so very welcome! Thanks for watching!
Can you do a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox and a 2018 Chevy Traverse?
Just isn’t the same without the big wing
Subaru has not made any "official" announcement on the change in 2020. It is all speculation. They probably will, but nothing official yet.
I was under the impression that 2020 was the year since some Subaru insiders had announced that at the last international car show. It would be the perfect time! I have my fingers crossed!
Is it confirm that they are going to have a new design on 2020 model?
That seems to be the story as of now. The stars are kind of aligning for it to be the perfect time. Fingers crossed we will see!
I noticed a 9:31, the 2017 has the cabin engine sound ducting?
gen3v8 yes it does, 2017 also has a bigger infotainment screen as compared to 15 and 16, also the sti performance exhaust becomes standard. I own one my self.
Yes in 2015 the Subaru WRX & STI both feature engine sound ducting. Some people like it, and some people don't. I think it sounds great!
Great feedback thanks for helping out!
B P i thought it came with the performance exhaust but wasn't sure
Your reviews remind me of "Joe Tunney's in 3 minutes, you'll be an expert" reviews.. Talks about a lot of things not pertaining to this specific vehicle, then gives erroneous info. As you can now see, the 2020 STI is still the same vehicle. I know this was filmed 2 years ago, but still. But, that is my 2 cents worth, no one else's.
Thanks for your input and perspective. You should watch some of my new stuff.
God said get that car for Bekey
Any updates on your RS?
I may be going in another direction car wise. We will see! ;-)
Raiti's Rides me either, i just got the RS 3 months ago but I should have bought the Type R in the first place... Planning to trade it in. Not really ideal for daily driving.
Maybe but there is a part of me that telling me not to let go of the RS as this is a LE and my first ever bnew car... :(
that's in philly though
Eargasm - you should copywrite that. Maybe add eyegasm too...
I am so glad that you caught that! I think I might have too! Thanks for watching!
By by i love you. O and ✌
