Gibson Pickups 496R/500T versus BB1/BB2

Improv Jam with Dopez Tracks backing track using a 2011 Gibson LP Classic Plus and a 2010 Gibson R9 VOS .
First, following a brief bit with the 500T is the 496R neck pickup in the Classic Plus. Next the 500T bridge pickup.
At 3:05 after a moment of the BB2, it's the BB1 neck pickup in the R9 VOS and then it is switched the BB2.

I like the tone of the metal covered pickups, THEY sounds like a Les Paul to my ears.

Yeah.... The Burstbuckers in the R9 sound decent, though the Custombuckers, which Gibson started using a few years later in their reissues, are better at getting the classic LP sound.

Keeping the gain lower prevents the amp's harmonic distortion obliterating the more subtle overtones that allow for a more expressive tonal palate.
