If you want to up your productions then there's no better way to do that than by adding some cinematic camera movement. You can do it in various ways. Camera dolly, steadicams, camera cranes, etc. But the easiest and cheapest way is by using a camera slider. Here is a great one that I use from Konova.

My name's Tom Antos and I make videos. I am a film director and cinematographer with over 12 years experience in VFX & animation. Jak sie masz?! I'm originally from Poland ;) Check out my channel here: / polcan99
jamesrules1234567899 a slider allows you to do a lot more precise and slower camera movements. Glidecam or steadicams are better for faster moving shots that don't have to be so exact.
nice.
Tom Antos how did you just adjust the manfrotto head for that crane shot? or you changed the head. Thank you for this video. Very helpful for my upcoming purchase.
I always want to pickup my camera after watching one of your tutorials. Thanks for doing these!
You always give the best advice man. Making things much easier for me to make films with a limited budget and my mobility problems, keep making these videos
Im using the K3. If it rocks back and forth then you need to adjust the tension of the two rollers. Just take off the top of the slider where the attachment for the camera screw is. Then use the tool that comes with the slider to adjust the tension till there is no movement
As always, great informative, practical and down to earth advice. Thanks
Its not fair Tom.. every review you do.. i just want one..!! thx for the great tutorials Tom.. you really are the man on YT for tuts regarding video making. best wishes
Thanks Tom! I have the slider and have been looking for a quicker way to set it up. I hate threading light stands into the holes every time, so it'll be nice to try it with the quick release plates on those Dolicas. Good review!
Im using the 62 inch model AX620B100
Thanks for this. Like a mini master class on sliders.
Wish I had seen this video sooner. the Konova slider looks so much better than the Neewar slider I purchased...
depends where you live and where you order it from and what size. Check out the links in the description and you will see the prices there.
I just ordered that same slider. Looking forward to using it. Good tips regarding the tripods.
Cheers!
Very informative video for a newbie like myself.
Thanks alot. Liked and Subscribed!
Great tutorial! Thanks Tom. I think you sold me on the Konova.
That's a lot of effort you put to make this video, thanks Tom Antos for your effort to educate us!
I appreciate you making these very informative videos, keep up the good work!
Im using the K3 120cm version of the slider
I read that the K2 was significantly cheaper and that the only difference was that it had 3, instead of 4 ball bearings. Hve you tried it? Which one would you recommend?
Tom, great video. Would you please tell me exactly the slider you are using so I can have an idea how much it works? Thanks!
Nice review, you have help me a lot in the past trying to figure out the whole Filmmaking process, thanks for that! A question: which model of the slider is this ? The K5 120cm version or ? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the ball head tips!
Hi Tom, what's the proper balance on how many slider shots should you use in a production?
Thats a nice slider man, good review!
Great video. Thank you
Hi Tom, Very well review as always. Quick question, would that be ok if I use Dolica Proline tripod for my videos and use Manfrotto MVH500AH Fluid Video Head? Can I get the same steady shot with this tripod? I have Canon 60D and using Tamron 24-70mm 2.8f (quite heavy lens) Can you please suggest some good quality tripod legs or tripods? Thank you
you sir earn my subscription ! :) i want to buy that slider
Hi Tom, thank you very much for this great Review, which was very helpful!
Best regards from Cologne, René
Hi Tom, Can Manfrotto 055XPROB tripod carry the weight of this slider (100cm) ? Can you please suggest some tripods (carbon fiber) which can hold weight of slider and I get the same sturdy shot?
Hey Tom, nice work, this is a helpful and thorough review! I have a Konova slider now and it is sticky...what kind of oil do you recommend for the slider. I think someone said not to use something like WD40 (if you know that brand) so I am not sure what to lubricate my sticky slider with!
i have a black magic cinema camera and the konova k5 but i need two tripods wich one would you buy for good stability ? because i think these tripos in your reviwe are not good enough for a bmcc + fluidhead+ heavy lensen ^^
Nice review
I just just the simple mic that's on the Sony NEX 5R camera
Tom is this the K3 or the K5 version of the slider? I have the K3 but i'm really not impress, it rocks back and forth on the track.
Interesting review...thank you
Awesome slider.
Hey Tom Antos, Thanks allot for the great review.. which model of slider do you use in the review? K2 or K3?
I've got the 80cm version, build quality, portability and price (£160) can't really fault it.
Great review Tom, Thank you!
Cheers, Pete
Tom would you personally prefer the Sony nex or something like the t3i
Tom Antos is my homie
I love your channel!! It's really good stuffs you're doing so keep it up! :)
What kind of oil is best used for lubing/cleaning the rails for the slider??
What do you think of the Glide Gear SYL-960 Video Camera Track Dolly Hybrid & their 12 FT TRACK?
great review
What camera was used for this video and what export settings did you use? the video looks so crisp
Hii dude... Where i will get... Where available in india... Espeselly karnataka
thanks so much, great info.
good work
keep them up
What did you use for audio on this video?
you still use this slider.. do you recommend something better?
what model of tripod are your dolica ones?
Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!!!
Do you still use those same tripods now in 2015? Just curious because I want to buy a set for my slider after watching your video.
79eyesonly For the slider yes... although Konova just came out with a side support that allows you to use just one tripod and get stable shots... haven't tested it out yet though
Thanks Tom.
Good informative
nice one
its truly in the eye of the beholder. but for me, its not that great.
the material is too cheap for professional use. i will try the cinevate duzi slider that can be used by one single tripod. hope it works fine and steady / smooth by slow operation. would be nice to get more reviews of different sliders. there too many konova reviews
these days^^
Hey Tom, what size slider did you use in the demo? Thank you.
This is the 120cm size
I've got the exact same set up, cheers.... i thought i was doing something wrong
i hate this slider from konova. i ve used it in one single project and guess what,
the thread of the screw just returned to dust as i tried to fix the break with two liddle fingers carefully
Jesteś z Polski Tomaszi?
then you got a faulty one. This slider is amazing.
You're hot! But i have a real question too. Where do i get the slider that works on one tripod that you mention below?
You're surrounded by tripods and you can't get a person who knows how to use one to film you -_-
my film budget does not allow a $500 slider.
wow so cheap! :o
