Game should facilitate every type of player. Snipers, ambushers , flankers and brawlers. So removing sniping spots and flanking routes really hurts some players. Not everyone enjoy brawling
Good good just stay away annoying little rats that interrupt my kill streak because they decided to stay in a corner and not move for 5min. Or stupid snipers that can't do anything more productive than sit 5m from their spawn and can see the whole map (very fun gameplay)
hurts me the absolute most as japan main, japan got good guns, ok mobility and horrible armor, any playstyle that does not involve "don't be seen" as number 1 engagement rule doesn't work for japanese vehicles.

I actually genuinely hate brawling because it never allows me to play the strengths of my tank or myself mostly because I have a poor understanding of the camera
I think one of the main problems in the game is the idea of "sniping positions", and how that mindset encourages people to think about the game in terms of a series of specific "spots". It's a problem of game design but also a problem of how players choose to approach the game - ie, going strait to the same "spots" on the map and only thinking in terms of "spots" vs reading the terrain and enemy positioning and adapting. Reading and adaptation is something that can be done to great effect on many maps, especially the newer redesigns, but the vast majority of the playerbase just drives to "spots", or directly at the quickest fight, or reduces flanking to "hug the edge of the map". It really dumbs down the level of gameplay that could be possible.
Modern MBTs were designed to fight in the plains of Europe and the deserts of the Middle East, this is a fact and both the American and Russian army have stated this in their official doctrine. This is why western vehicles put such a strong emphasis on advanced fire control systems, mobility and crew ergonomics versus armor protection (see battle of 73 easting). The idea is to see the enemy before they see you and effectively use accurate fire on them. The mods are plain wrong in this aspect.
"versus armor protection" WHEN you realize the U.S. put so much armor on the M1 and M1A2 that the Iraqis couldn't even front pen it anywhere. And then you realize that have added literally tons of armor since BUT Gaijin doesn't model it BUT they do model the added weight....lol
The OP in the forum post is clearly just a tryhard Germany/Sweden main, that's unsatisfied with their current 65/70% win rate. These kind of people drive me up the wall - constantly complain about how the game isn't balanced enough in their favour, all the while completely ruining the game experience for everyone else, with their sniping and spawn camping tactics.
Yes, I totally agree, I hate playing top tier and just constantly worrying as I have nearly no idea from where I will be shot from and even if I have armor, most of time its useless, its just "he who sees and shoots other guy first, wins", that is why I rather play low to mid tier, whre there is so much more viabla strategies with various vehicle types, its just way more dynamic and fun to be able to use your vehicles strenghts and actual knowledge of enemy weak spot etc.

Now its filled with newbies who know nothing of the game mechanics let alone the maps. Its important to start learning where people are most likely to sit, the strategic positions etc. top tier is all about positioning, not pressing W like people think it is… well if ur Russia on Rhine I guess it is.

What's the deal with people going wild because they don't have snipe spots? Challs, Chiefs, and Conqs all have really strong turret armor, is it that hard to look for a spot that offer safety to the hull? Why do you have to restrict yourself to certain "sniping spots" on the map to be useful? Oh well, flexibility is something many lack in this game (seeing how people play a 3 zone map like a 1 zone), it does make sense how people will literally fucking die when their favourite spots aren't around anymore

In answer to your question.... War Thunder "had" maps where sniping was a thing you could do, maybe not as the primary focus of the game but certainly as a support position.... But Gaijin has gone out of their way in the last couple of months to ruin that part of the game and force players to fight the way they want them to, "face to face".
Played European province, the one with two spawns right next to each other on each side of the map. 11.3. It was just me and bro, snipe, pull back, snipe. It was beautiful. It's how modern combat is, and I wouldn't mind if the game moves to that the higher you go since tanks have that kill potential. Everyone plays in their own ways, even some rushed the town and began brawling while we sat back. Last time I checked first part of the onion is don't get seen. As a brits main at 11.7 and germans at 9.7. My experience is most maps now favor brawling and flanking with lights. This imo play to well into the russian factions strenghts the most. Low mbt profile very good armour few and small weakspots and very very good if not the best lights to back up those strong mbt. This even goes for ww2 tanks. As brits you have either mobility or suposedly good armour with okayish gun never in a good combi or total package unlike soviets. As germans at 9.0/9.7 the dam 2s38 slappes those vehicles frontaly like going through butter.
in my opinion sniping ofc viable tactic but having half of your team sniping is not good for game balance, i can see why they remove sniping spots there are objectives to do. and in some cases sniping might become so cancerous that only cas might destroy that rat. the game is becoming more nad more "push 1 street with no cover, no flanks, no sniping" makin any non russian/chinese tank near obselote because all the niches of speed (lights), hulldown (AGS or brits in general), flanking or sinping or just using brain in battles are discourages and any options to do so are slowly removed ... also camping spots are removed even tho air and helicopters plague every game where are the days when having only -3° of gun elevation was seen as disadvantage ? nowdays prety much all maps are so flat that you can use any russian or chinese tank with ZERO drwabacks, while tanks with -10° or more of gun elevation will never see any use of those, add the agressive push for monetisation and now im just playing the game out of habit and not enjoyment
Tiger tanks both the Tiger and Tiger 2 were excellent tanks at range 😂, a tiger at 2 km would decimate an American armored Collumn or advancing Russian armor. At close range they are terrible because their slow, and boxy and have obvious weakpoint that at range you cant hit easily. Abrams tanks and Leopards excel at Range because their extremely accurate when hull down, and their turrets are designed to absord certain hits at angles you can only achieve at range when you see the muzzle flash and make a sudden move with the turret. Very few vehicles work in CQC, thats why you have IFV's for that

In terms of the coded numbers they technically do have a bias. Also I don’t believe anyone disagrees that the BVM was OP when added and is still stronger than the T90M. As shown by its popularity and raw numbers. Reload rate, speed, etc. But that was also at a time when the KA50/52 could still easily spawn with fully loaded tank killing ability which multiplied the BS

Most Helis can do the same thing as the ka 50/52 and the German in particular can do it even better albeit with a slightly shorter range. Perhaps you should grind it out yourself and you’ll see what kind of problems Russian tanks are riddled with. Such as poor mobility, the most breakable gun breach out of all the tech trees and at any br lower than 10.0 mediocre to lackluster armour with the exception of possibly 1 tank every 2.0 br. In the meantime almost every American and German heavy and medium gets overall good performance from start to finish and a lot of really controversial vehicles along the way that completely breaks the balance in their respective BR. Go and farm it out. I’m sure it’ll open your eyes. For reference I started as a Russian main and currently main is USA and German tanks around 6.0 - 9.3 as my most played brackets. Personally I have more success in an Abram’s or leopard at 10.3-11.7 because war thunder is more reliant on positioning than actual tank stats and those 2 are far superior to any Russian tank in mobility

Main issue is this is a russian made game with russian military doctrine in mind too the point where they just send in tanks without proper support. Tanks are just part of the combined arms doctrine where they fit in as a armored gun platform. so frankly this game can never really properly incorporate them how they would in a proper military. So its a sandbox game, do what you want

sniping spots are not the problem. the horrible map design is that allows someone to shoot into the spawn from across the map
Every vehicle is designed for specific purposes. War thunder should not be a straight brawler game as it denies vehicles from using their strengths.
That's pretty much what is balancing the game.
sniping from hulldown position is the only thing that keeps leo2 alive

When you remove sniping positions from long range maps you need to add more options for cover so it’s not just an empty field
