I love these "older" videos. You're so natural in them and it's helpful to see that we all make the same mistakes! The reason I searched for this on your site, is because I just purchased a small cutting of imbricata and once I get it to root I'm looking for mounting solutions. My biggest problem is going to be humidity, since it gets down to 23% here in the winter. Imbricata definitely won't like that, so maybe a combination of a vase and a plank like you have. Hmmm? That may work. I would also like to see a video of this plant after several months to see if your procedure worked or not. Stay well and all the best to you always....
I’m liking this Balsa wood plank concept. I really think it’s gonna love it’s substrate and the grow plank. Super cool! It is a pretty Hoya. It will appreciate.
All woods have different toxins which could affect the hoya. I would love to know how the project went. Your videos are wonderful! Please keep us entertained.
Your idea is pretty timely. Caitlyn from plant life in the tropics also had the idea to put plants on planks and now a bunch of other youtubers are going nuts over it. I was personally surprised it didn’t become widespread earlier. Everyone swore by moss poles and moisture but we’ve all seen them climbing up random dry walls and shelves so it seemed logical to me. Good luck with the setup. I’m pretty convinced it’s the best option. Just watch out for mold growth on the moist plank ;)
Hopefully there won't be much mold. I will use hydrogen peroxide in that case. I think growing some of these plants on planks of wood might be the best for them!
Hi Miro! This was fun watching you! I love the look of a shingling plant on wood and hope your hoya imbricata does well. It's a very pretty hoya. I did find a rhaphidophora, in a ceramic pot, on a piece of wood. It is from Costa Farms, so I think it may be a Hayi.....? I was excited to find it. Do you think most hoyas would do well like this? It would be fun to try, but I only have a few hoyas right now. Thank you so much for sharing!
Yay! A new video! I was wondering if your plants had consumed you (thi k Little shop of horrors) my local plant shop has one of these and I was eyeing it, I'm like you and am a bit (*cough* bug) underwaterer. A plant that likes to stay moist is such a struggle 🤣
I think it is lovely when it shingles! Definitely very different hoya! There will be regular videos again soon, tomorrow I am sending out all my cuttings, so I will have more time 💚
I am thinking I need a shingling plant, so cool looking. It came out much better than the moss sleeve 😂 I mean pocket. And yes, peeling glue off is oh so much fun. NOT. 🤣
Moss pocket is awful 😂 Shingling plants are very cool! I think you would love some shingling Rhaphidophoras! Peeling glue was much less fun than I thought it would be 😂
Could you pretty please do a video explaining splash on Hoyas? There seems to be much debate online of whether it is induced or a genetic predisposition (eg. crassipetiolata splash) would love to know your perspective ♥️ Thank you and love you videos!
I know this is a bit old, but the leaves cannot be adjusted once they reach their final form. If the vine is left unsecured, the leaves will fold, so the growth point needs to be tied down. This lets the plant know that it can adhere to the surface, and with enough humidity, it will
Oh Miro, I love your creative diy plant solutions.. Do you also water the balsa wood? I would love to have something like that but everything in my house molds in 30 seconds if wet.. so sadly no mosspoles for me..
At first I did not know where are you going with this 😂 then it finally made sense. I think it’s a great idea, very interesting set up. Definitely would like an update if it worked 😁
Hi Miro! Glad to see you) My imbricata is a tiny cutting that i got as a gift to my purchase (yes, it happens in the country of cheap undullatas). Now it sits in moss, has some roots but no active growth yet. Could you share your experience about the light conditions for H. imbricata? Does it need much light? Oh, by the way, i used microfiber cloths as wicks, they fall apart in less than a month )
I bought a rather big imbricata some two years ago for 30€.. My friend accidentally killed it when I was on holidays. When I see the prices now my heart is bleeding..
I thought of you the other day and your nightmare with root mealies. Did you know that you can make a kind of tea from tobacco to kill pests with? You can spray the foliage but mainly I like it for killing pests in the soil. It’s toxic to animals but safe for plants so it might be an easier and less stressful solution if you ever have that problem again. In the past before I converted most of my plants to semi hydro I’d just sprinkle some tobacco from a cigarette on the top layer of soil and it worked wonders against fungus gnats.
I've been following this channel for quite some time and had NO IDEA the host was from my country like... DUDE. Time to stalk for potential plant exchange. Also, stealing the plank concept, sorry.
@@BasiePlants for months and months, I've had this cloud looming over my head, whispering "this person's aura radiates so strongly, as if it's right there, within reach", and then, a tall figure came to me in a dream and... Ok, no, I just saw it on the channel's about page when looking to see whether you have Instagram.

Finally a new video out Miro, I know you have other life besides planty stuffs but we missed you!
It is actually all plants 😂 I have about 130 cuttings to root and send out so that is taking up a lot of my time. 🤣
We miss how he presents the video which is so humorous!!!! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽❤️
Yay! Another video. I saw Ric gave up and put his on moss in a plastic food container.
You are ADORABLE!! Enjoy your honesty and humor.😊pleeeeae give us an update ??🙏🙏🙏🤞
I plan to put mine in the same set up. Looking forward for some update video in the future 😊
Would love to see an update...
love h. imbricata - i have her on a woodstick in a terrarium. good luck with yours.
I am sure it will love the terrarium :D
I like how the plank is outside the pot and will avoid rotting...
congratulation for 20000 Abos! I enjoy your videos a lot and learned much! Thanks!
I laughed so hard watching this I had tears and could barely see parts of it. You are a riot! 😂🤣💚🪴🌱🌿
🤣🤣🤣 Miro Miro Miro 🤣🤣🤣 why in the world would you use moss to slap your face? I love your videos sooo much. Never once have you not cracked me up. 😘
It turned out nice. I really like the speckled leaves of Hoya imbricata.
When it lays flat, it does look nice. Otherwise it's a no from me 😂
Exquisite indeed! Work of art.
Keep your wood moist🤣🙈🤣
Haha, well, I will try :D

It can definitely become a beautiful hoya. Hopefully soon :)

I just got my Embricata today I’m excited but thinking what’s the best thing so I’m watching vids lol tfs
Miro!! So happy to see a new video. I love that hoya. Grows very well in my climate.

I can't wait to see how this little beauty does with this setup! I would LOVE to see it shingle😍
Me too! I hope there will be an update in couple
of months :D

Thank you 🤣 Glad you have fun watching the videos :D

I love this! I love all your videos. Thanks
Thanks :D Glad to hear that :)
Miro, is there an update on this? I tried it with dischidia imbricata and the wood is growing some funky mold! It looks disgusting🤢
Hi Miro!
Do you know if the leaves can be ‘unfolded’, spread out? Or should they be left alone and only secure new leaves so they grow flat please?
I know this is a bit old, but the leaves cannot be adjusted once they reach their final form. If the vine is left unsecured, the leaves will fold, so the growth point needs to be tied down. This lets the plant know that it can adhere to the surface, and with enough humidity, it will

I don't plant to water the wood, maybe a spray or two? I will see :D mosspoles are definitely a no-go for me as well.
Did u ever do an update to this video?

I hope it does work :) I will definitely make an update if it does. If not, we will never speak of this again 😂
@@BasiePlants 😂🤣😂 Even if it fails I’m sure it would still be a very good video! 😁
🌱🌱🌱 Love your channel so much. I am always so excited to see when you have posted a new video.
Thank you 💚
Thank you for the great idea! I have a baby, with 4 leaves that will need a place to climb soon.
It will grow quite fast, trust me!
Can’t wait for updates 😀💚
I hope soon! I have to wait for it to start to shingle :)

Just WOW..lucky you! Where about do u live?! (If u don’t mind me asking..) ❤️
Imbricata?! As a gift?! 😱 What amazing seller is this? 😂 And where are undulatas cheap 👀
I have had microfiber in some pots for over a year. They are okay, but roots grow into them. So far, imbricata is doing well under 36W LED light :)
@@BasiePlants Haha, don't be jealous, it's very small. Hopefuly it'll grow.
@@olgababushkina3257 it grows fast in my experience :D
I so enjoy you. Miss you when you are not around.
Soon I should be able to post regularly :)
I like your videos very informative
I think you need an assistant right now. I volunteer as tribute! :D
I love the new setup and will try that with my plants definitely :)
The pay is not great 😂
Did you treat the wood to prevent the mold? I like the new setup for its minimalist design!
No, I didn't. I don't plan to spray it all that much, we will see how it goes :)
Better arrangement. Good video.
Interesting hoya.
Indeed!
I bought a rather big imbricata some two years ago for 30€.. My friend accidentally killed it when I was on holidays. When I see the prices now my heart is bleeding..
just got a basket with 10 leaves today for $25usd hope i dont kill it
👌🏾

I used tobacco tea for thrips. It has limited efficiency in my experience. Not inefficient but there are better things.
I have a GREAT idea......WEEKLY videos ;-) at a minimum
Would love that 😂 Hopefully soon I can get back on the schedule :)
For some reason hoyas creep me out
😂 To each their own :D
