They stopped playing It's Not Safe To Swim Today? :(
No love for The Common Man's Collapse...
Dudes are incredible!
We bow in its aura? This ia fuckin blasphemy
The setlist never missed 😅🙏
Hearing him go up to the high 3 while the crowd does the melody at 43:34 is magical
yeah, apperently toronto's crowd is gifted in singing too lol
Lukas has gotten so much better live, Christ, this literally is giving me goosebumps
He definitely went from an absolute stage amateur to sounding like the studio recording at times.
I love that the asian security guard is always headnodding haha
Riccardo Spadano He knows what’s up 🤘🏽
this is how you determine the true quality of a live band :)
I love how they still open up with 20/200
Good to see Sam playing a bigger drum kit again. What a phenomenal drummer.
Agreed. It looks so much nicer.
One well oiled machine of a band!
I love how the security guy at the front is enjoying every second of it xD He just can't stop moving his head to this endless groove xD
omfg these guys are so underrated, they should be a top name in metal right now playing venues 4x times the size of this.
Uchiha purists hate the cleans, which is why they haven’t made it bigger
21:00 wall of death
Lukas has so much god damn presence on stage it was magnificent seeing them live
you know you're killing it on the stage... when you know everyone is enjoying it... and also check out the security guy....
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how flipping good their bassist is? I feel like he's overlooked so much, and he's a straight beast!
I was just going to say this. Sooo talented.
Do you know if he still plays a seven string or if he plays an 8 string now
Makes it look easy
Danny is the best bassist I've ever seen live. Ever. He's an absolute beast and the most wholesome guy ever.
I was front row right in front of him at their gig in Zurich a week ago and half of the songs were simply us two looking eachother in the eyes and smiling, shit was the most joy I've ever had at a concert.
i would say the opposite can never hear him lol not even on the recordings
I love that they still play their music from the eclipse days live
i cant wait for listening to Pool Spray in their concert
Band - 10
Video - 10
Sound - 10
Audience - 10
Asian Security Guy - 11 (plus points for the head nodding)
They’re so lucky to have such an amazing bass player. And Sam Apple Baum ofc. AND MARC OKUBO OFC!!!
Tight performance, their time locking is at another level 🙌
Lukas is really good man.
Nice top view, good sound quality !!!
It's a tie b/t Lukas and Tillian from DGD for best clean vocals, but Lukas squeaks out the win as best vocalist imo, for doing both the clean and screams in VOM ...love this band, great live show!!
Spencer...
He's really trying to still make his stride like back when he started in VOM. Back then he balanced the cleans and screams so well. Then he started doing gutteral lows instead of fry lows which started to kill his voice and he could only scream and no longer sing. Now he seems to be really pulling back on the screams and pushing the cleans. He's gotta hit that 50/50 instead of a more 30/70 like he's got going here.
Everything here is amazing. I dont hear any issues other then maybe focus at times. He was on that night.
Gutturals don’t damage your voice, nor does fry. Don’t know where you’re getting this information, maybe he’s just changing his style or just decided to do one thing one day and another thing the next day.
@@ac-130fan if done incorrectly they definitely can
@@ChronoIllogical0405 if toasting bread incorrectly, you can die. Doesn’t mean anything.
Shiiiiit I missed this
I saw them for this tour in Cleveland and it was sweet. I think they should of headlined.
I love VoM, but they aren't nearly as good as Periphery as a band.
Not as songwriters they arent. They showboat and bloat their albums to a point where it doesnt even sound good anymore. Its just pretentious as hell. Veil of Maya write way more memorable, interesting, and WAY heavier compositions and get it done in 3-4 minutes. Periphery got annoying as hell after P2.
@@Rob_Cary Not as songwriters? You say that after release of Reptile and Members Only? Difference in skill and dedication in those songs is huge.
Not even talking about how much more better Spencer is live, than Lukas.
VoM is just "'teeny""/lightweight Periphery.
Noxed Its 13 minutes big whoop. Ive seen both vocalists live before and lukas was good. Hes gonna have his off nights like anyone else. I dont even know why the 2 bands are compared honestly. Like I said before, veil of maya is here to write memorable heavy songs (i did find false idol to be a little lacking in some areas) periphery is just a neverending pretentious showboating machine. They kinda remind me of BTBAM. They started off great and did what was natural and memorable and then the idea of being "progressive" went to their heads too much, shit got cheesy and cornballish, heaviness took a back seat and now its just a hodgepodge of random shit in songs that are double the length they need to be. P1 and P2 i was a huge fan but its just too pretentious anymore. Especially from the vocal department. We get that Spencer has a ton of ability in his vocal arsenal but just because you can do certain things doesnt mean you should. There is not one periphery album that flows as solidly as the 38 minutes that make up matriarch. If periphery announces theyre gonna make a 40 minute album of just 4-5 minute bangers ill be happy to listen.
My opinion - 2 different styles of music. Both good in they're own sense. I just happen to like VoM better. But definitely not comparable
42:47 is that Lauren Babic? Sure sounds like her
yep!
Legend!
Before Mikasa started it almost sounded like Lukas said Lauren come sing it, either that or it was Toronto sing it but I cant tell exactly
Björn Ironsight slaying these drums
16:24 Holyyyyyy Screams
I like that security guy in the middle
16:25 sheeeeeeeeeesh
Ur sub count bro!
People who complain about VOM don’t realize as long as Marc and Sam are in the band the music is still the same, there isn’t a band like them in in Djent/Core because Marco guitar playing is so unique the band. I’m an OG Sumerian fan been following them since (ID) in 2010. Really it’s just a more cohesive version of VOM with cleans. Also I’m over the the whole “it has to be brutal to be metal” argument it’s gatekeeping BS and has no place in the scene. That type of thinking makes you a pissy old man yelling at the clouds when it rains.
34:34 oh no
The guard at 26:34 is jammin
34:17 pool spray ?… more like i sprayed everywhere
Marc is a freak!!!!!
Lukas lows are just so flat. They sound great on the record but they are missing the punch live.
Feels like there is no power on his low
It’s because he’s using a kinda lazy scream with less power so as not to affect his singing too much. A lot of vocalists do it and it’s just for the purpose of saving the quality of your voice and improving your endurance
The songs sound great but the singer is as polarizing and hyping as a potato. Jesus Christ you need to show energy in your performance to make the crowd really go wild.
I really like this band and still support them by going to shows, but my god their lead singer can not pull off the clean vocals live. He's been pretty awful every time I've seen them.
idk the 2 times ive seen them and this show too lukas has been pretty fucking good
stfu Quincy wtf you talkin about
@@nickpryme Fuck that shit. I just saw them live and the worst part of the show wasn't even his singing. It was his screaming and his stage presence. He moves around like he doesn't even want to be there. His screams sound so amazing on recordings but it is clear live that he is doing what I prefer to call "whisper" screaming. There is no power. He sucks.
His singing isn't even that good live honestly, but that was not the biggest crime, the biggest crime is how disinterested he is. He cannot work a crowd. This isn't just a bad night, you can hear him screaming just like this on many live performances. This is just how vocal ability, and it sucks.
Did you even watch the video? What the fuck? He absolutely nails it here.
Tyson Rees yeah his screamings are really powerful live
He really improve his highs
Maan he really did. He came back healthier than ever!
Kratos Bar Bar his cleans have gotten better too!
Brian Przybyszewski I think he just improved his posture, hence the improved cleans and high screams!
I never paid attention to the drums until watching this video holy shit
Woah crowd sang mikasa nicely
i wish i could've seen periphery and VoM ;-;
Microsoft Paint the opener covet was amazing as well man, epic lineup
I missed school to see them. It was 100% worth it. Next time make sure you go. Use BandsinTown or follow their social media lol
me too dude. I was too busy with college and the other guys I go with were too. at least I get to see them in January next year.
I was right in the thick of things man, show was insane, but really sweaty lol
The mosh pit for Church Burner from Periphery in Chicago was bigger than my house.
Lukas is killing it here, especially Three Fifty. How he belts those high notes, so effortless.
43:36 flex much😂🙌🏻👏🏻
dude Dan's new bass looks incredible
I'd love to know who in the audience nails the part at 42:46. Fucking awesome!
Hell yah! That guy nailed that section! hahah
It’s Lauren Babic she has a UA-cam channel!
@@kaylab2033 Nearly spit out my coffee when I read this. Of course he knew to give Lauren the mic when he spotted her!
I think this show has their best live performance of Three-Fifty
Lukas cleans are awesome
He improves alot bro.peace
Yo that tap on bass at 35:58 is insane
In love with 39:18
Sam freaking killing it!
I really miss brandon, but, boy, lukas is a hell of a singer. What an ending!
great performance.
Man, I wish I had this crowd last week in Zurich. I was literally the only guy with a Veil of Maya shirt there because they were supporting fucking Avatar. I was the only one singing and the rest was all sleeping :)
I really hope I can make the one on the 21st this shit looks amazing to be at
Should have kept their OG screamer. That’s where they fucked up
Thank you so much for uploading this and allowing me to re-live the awesomeness of what VoM was live. Last concert I went to before the world stopped... 💔
Can't wait to see them again this year. hope this pandemic ends.
@@torontomoshpit Believe me, I think about this daily. Especially after the killer singles we were gifted last year from VoM, seeing them live again is at the top of my wish/dream list.
@@torontomoshpit I'm from Niagara so Toronto is usually my spot for catching bands when they come around and I don't expect to see any bands here for a while. My guess is next summer at the earliest but who knows. I thought this pandemic would last a couple months at the beginning now it's just life.
Fucking 20/200 . What an opener.
I'm seeing them soon and oh my god I'm excited
Seeing them with DGD in March!
@@AnimeHead26 yikes I was supposed to see them too in March with dgd but corona :(
bring brandon back
I'm only just discovering this band because they're support act for a gig I'm going to. But fuck these guys are good.
This is madness
I was supposed to be at this show but I lost my fucking ticket. So bummed :( Sick show though.
Looks like a great crowed, even security was bopping. Thanks for the upload!
Them hardcore dancers lookin goofy as always lol
I’m sorry but fuck hardcore dancers they actually will hurt people. I saw a women get clocked at at an ABR show and that guy promptly got the. shit bean outa him in the pot durin ABRs set,, crown killing and hardcore dancers ruin pits man.
They're so fucking tight live, Lucas also has improved a lot!
That rick and morty clip before punisher fits perfectly lol.
Security guard was head bobbing the whole time!
Eric Cashimere yup, then pouring water in all of our mouths between sets haha the real mvp
They are tearing shit down these days.
the best vocals lml amazing
love how they start with 20/200
Wish I was there. What a great show. Love this band.
🔥🔥🔥
Lukas sounds amazing live. He might be the best metal vocalist ever in live.
you are high.
@@wearesimulated1579 why
@@deniz_sanli Because he sounds fucking terrible. His screams are some of the worst I have ever seen live, and yes I HAVE seen them live. He sounds like he is whispering a scream into the microphone.
4m18s for an example.
His stage presence is also a joke. He walks back and forth nodding his head with about as much enthusiasm as two recently deceased old people fucking.
Have you not actually seen them live? Have you not seen Periphery live? The best metal vocalist EVER???? Are you fucking kidding me? Is this a troll? There is no fucking way you actually think that.
I mean best metal vocalist in live performance. Yeah he might not be the best but he is still amazing. Do you know how hard is to sing both clean, scream (bot low and high) for 1 hours? He's fucking amazing in live performances.
@@deniz_sanli No he isn't. Have you actually seen Periphery live yet? They were on this same tour and Spence absolutely killed it for the hour long show, including opening with Reptile which is a nearly 17 minute song. He sang amazingly as well, not just screams. THAT is a real metal vocalist and he is lightyears ahead of Marcus on every potential level. Even his stage presence and movement.
Anyone know the full setlist?
Fondue look it up on setlist.fm they play pretty much the same setlist at each show
Pool spray sounds so much tighter than the video from nashville, dude still cant sing tho haha
man they slammed mikasa, last song of the set too shit
Their singer was so bad live. Periphery was a thousand times better
43:36
Clean vocals ruined this band
Hahahah imagine watching UA-cam videos you don't like and commenting on them.
@@IRLtrolls you must be unfamiliar with the band. They use to be pretty hardcore, but the clean vocals ruin the vibe.
@@bloodjinn420 I saw them live in 2009. Fuck off. They are better now.
@@IRLtrolls he just misses nothing but blast beats the whole fucking song.
Not so much that the singing ruined the band, it's just poor use of singing. The new vocalist doesn't really have any unique characteristics in his screaming or singing so that just kind of brings down the band. Singing can work but you have to be strategical. When I heard singing in Within The Ruins' last album I didn't really notice it as being out of place. However some of these other bands try to shoehorn singing into their music and that's what kinda kills it. Vocalist also looks like he's giving like 40% on this show. If he can't give it every night then maybe he isn't a good fit for the band. It isn't even just this one night either. In other videos I've seen he just seems like he's phoning it in.
Sound good but boring as hell on stage he looks like he just got back from the mall
For real tho, wtf lol
