- There are a lot of interesting firearms at SHOT Show every year. But every now and then, there are a few that stand out as being unique and inventive. One of those was the SIX 12 shotgun by Vantage Arms.
Eric D'Ambrosio-Correll gave Guns.com a tour of the SIX 12 at SHOT Show 2017.
The SIX 12 is a modular, revolver shotgun chambered in 12-gauge. It's capable of firing 2 3/4 inch shells from a six round, removable and interchangeable cylinder. It's a dual action only revolver.
The SIX 12's unique design puts the weight of the gun close to the shooter making it easy to carry and use. It's physically compact while still providing a full length barrel, much like a bullpup. This makes it effective for both hunting and at the range.
Since there's no gas system and it's not recoil operated, it will cycle light, less-lethal loads, or heavy breaching rounds without a problem.
The gun is a modular system that can be configured for different applications. The full length civilian version is 26 1/2 inches in length and sports an 18 1/2 inch barrel. It's made in the US from US materials.
MSRP will be in the $1800 ballpark. Vantage is taking pre-orders in the fall of 2017 and delivering in the winter 2017/2018.
In the 1980’s Brazil made a similar weapon to this, the ENARM Pentagun. A five-shot revolving bullpup shotgun. The only prototype was completed after 10 months in 1986.
Not that I could even afford one...but they have been talking about releasing this since 2012-13!!! I'll believe it when I see it!!!
And it's almost summer 2019 and the six12 just about completely disappeared
still waiting on it!!
April 2022 and still waiting.
March 2023 still no news
2024
Who here wishes these were available to purchase in 2021? Dammit this gun looked so promising, I was so pumped to own one too.
This is the newest gun I’ve seen in a video game
and it was never heard from again
This.
Price point is outrageous. You can get a standard bullpup for 499.99. Why would I pay 1800.00 bucks to add this to my AR15. Just to look cool? No thanks 🤣🤣🤣
One question: Cylinder Blast?
it has a gas seal
yeah, but not with a gas sealed cartridge. the cylinder moves forward and locks with the barrel
dont think thats much of an issue with less potent rounds, this is my first thought
@@ParanoidCarrot but the thing is chambered in 12 gauge
@@cyberus1403 yes but the cylinder is pressed against the body what i researched while back, and again less potent rounds such as ruberbullets and birdshot dont create lot of pressure compared to slugs
How tf did ya’ll ship these out to the sdu so quickly?
sol has no friends lession mains
Toxins set!!
scorpion shotgun
I can see that having quite a few applications. And that integrated suppressor model 😍😍😍😍
How does Demolition Ranch not have one of these.
This was introduced several years ago by crye precision as their firearm. Was vapor ware. Is this, too?
crye precision was melded into vantage arms, this is more of a company showcase than a gun showcase, literally no new changes whatsoever
Umimugo vantage arms website going up in 10 days
ying,lesion shotgun
Also Nøkk which uses the suppressed version
So, as exciting as this shotgun concept is, and it IS very exciting, it seems to have been almost 4 years since the general public has heard anything at all about this shotgun finally coming to market. What's going on? The website still has only minimal information at best. Has the company effectively gone belly up; dead in the water?
This is a great idea, too bad they have not put any on the market. It might be about time for them to sell their idea to a producing arms maker.
Cylinder gap would make this gun so unpleasant to shoot, just like the "streetsweeper" shotguns.
The barrel is pulled back onto the cylinder cone for obturation; it's basically the Jackhammer action.
Where is this thing???
I can't find this thing anywhere. Does anyone know if these made it past the concept phase? Or if they have an exclusive contract with Military/Law Enforcement?
That firearm is badass. But is to expensive for your average guy.
Yeah I was watching the video thinking. *"Plz say it's like $800-$1000"* and then was crushed when it was both those numbers combind.
It's basically a Jackhammer with a smaller cylinder.
Need one 40mm
But How Designing one of these with 9mm or AR Mag & Barrel, But with the Shotgun Barrel at the Back?
So you cycle with pulling the trigger, and the drum looks metal, so how heavy is the trigger (I imagine quite heavy)? If the primary idea was to use it as a breach gun in undercarry form, how much it weighs (again quite heavy, I imagine)? Heavy trigger, heavy gun, center of mass moved forward if used as undercarriage... i guess you see why it won't sell.
the cylinders are plastic with steel inserts.
Other videos say 3 lb weight with a 20 lb double action only trigger pull
3 round 20 gauge, wood, steel shot and slugs. birds and deer
Super cool, I'll take one in wood and one with alien gun stock
I like it
Wonder if this could be attached to rifles other than the armalite.
Wow I really want one of those. My only question is will the shells stay in the cylinder without falling out if the cylinder is loaded into the shotgun with the barrel pointing up?
toomanyglocks I'm sure they fit tight!
If that's so then the shells would be hard to get out of the cylinder after being fired. I wonder if there is an extractor in the cylinder.
Obiously not. But im sure the final package will come with wooden stick to push the cartridges out. (EDIT: on serious note, actually at 1:43 you can see the cutouts which seems to be for pulling the cartridges out with another cartridge case rim)
toomanyglocks moon clips maybe
the cylinder has a plate front and back; it's quite clear in the vids and other images. Do you /really/ think that wouldn't have been taken care of?
Depending on barrel length this may be Australian legal.
tgillies101 the only change needed is a five round version then yeah it should be fine in Australia
amazing machine but I see a problem, what if I get a hang fire and I just pull the trigger again? now the chamber with the "hang firing" shell is moved to the right, and if it shoots it will destroy the gun AND shoot off my right hand, like, very reliably shoot off my right hand , thats the only problem with the bullpup design ,anyway, how can I buy one in canada?
Eh? If you get a hangfire, like any revolver, it gets moved out of battery and you keep firing.
@@thekaxmax I think you are thinking of a missfire, a hang fore is then the primer takes a few seconds to explode after being struck, the gun goes Click.......BANG, but if in that ........period you fire another shot, that bang will happen with the round out of battery
@@trombonista92 this is a problem with 100% of firearms. Solution, as always: use a single-shot weapon or good ammo. This one is not special that way
@@thekaxmax but if its a semiauto that ejects the "hanging" round, the round may explode in mid air, or on the ground, but if a round explodes out in the open thats no big deal , instead if it explodes in a chamber (like inside a drum) it will have the full power of the round, and in this case, it will be pointed at your hand,
Welp, price point is blah. If this gun could write research papers I'd say why not.
Coming to Canada?
$1800 dollars and it still has a crossbolt safety!?
they couldn't get the mouse strong enough to hold against the springs..
What show is this?
What ever happened to this shotgun
cool
am i the only one here because of rainbow 6 seige?
Legal in every state?
Haha
Vaporware.
we cant have these in norway.. they will even take away all semi hunting rifles.. life is sad when u cant even go pew-pew no more'
all historical semi rifles will then also soon be gone.
Range toy. Also, too expensive.
how is it a 'range toy'? Being a bullpup means its designed for use.
