    Looks first class. I must admit, everything Laowa does is very good.

      Thanks Mark! I am very impressed with this lens. I hope you’re well mate. Now I’m in the new place I have some videos on your channel to catch up on. 😊

    Great lens, very informative video. Love the house, congratulations Shane. Can't wait to see the new studio 😮

    Hi ya, Shane! So nice to see a video by you again, and congrats on buying a house. Don't worry, I will DEFINITELY be asking to crash at your place when I go on holiday to Australia :) I don't own any Laowa lenses, but I have to say my impressions from the reviews is that they might be a bit better for photos than video because, while they are supposed to have minimal distortion, they seem to have a lot of vignette, which is a lot easier to remove in photos than in video. Anyway, hopefully your NEXT video won't take a month, since we all miss you :)

      Thanks for the kind words. This lens has been fantastic when it comes to getting unique perspectives. It does suffer from vignetting and a bit of flaring, but otherwise I have no real complaints. The Zero D branding lives up to its name for sure. 😊👍

    Its an awesome lens - I have a 7.5mm LAOWA lens somewhere which I used for filming a martial arts scene in one of my movies, as well as a 12mm LAOWA, and I also have one of their Nanomorph lense which is fantastic - I love LAOWA lenses and I may try this one out . Thank you for the awesome review 😎

    I'm looking for a nice wide fast lens. I'd really like to see them (someone) come out with a new faster zoom lens in the 8mm to 40mm range for micro four thirds, that would be nice. Something cheaper than the Leica 10-25 be be nice too. But this one you're showing seems alright. I have a Panasonic 7-14. and I'm tired the f4, need faster. Good for you on the new house!

      hello, the olympus 7-14 pro f2.8 offers a much more solid image than the lumix already wide open with one stop ahead if that's enough for you. Otherwise, if you want to stay compact and light, you can also think of the laowa 7.5 or the leica 9mm as well as this 6mm

      @@michelesiniscalchi8695 I've been looking around for a while, and I didn't see or hear of the Olympus 7-14 pro f 2.8. Thanks, I'll look that one up and check for reviews.

    Thanks Shane, great to see you back in front of the camera.
    You have a lot of equipment and cables in your studio. Do you think that you can set it all up and have it working perfectly on attempt no.1?😊. Good luck🎉

      The tech studio was a very simple setup. I’m theory, it’s easy to set up. I’m just having trouble finding a few power supplies since moving haha 😆 thanks for the comments.

    The OM 8mm f1.8 fisheye is considerably wider AFTER de-fishing. Resolution wise they are about the same but the 8mm has more even lighting that allows me to see into the shadows better. The OM1 in camera fisheye correction lets me use it like a normal wide angle lens. The lightroom Rikinon 8mm f2.8 fisheye profile does a perfect job of correcting the raw images.

    Would you choose this or the Leica 9mm and why? Im sure these are some of the most popular options out there for micro four thirds. Also what are the uses for this for video? Just real estate and other tight spaces? I find even my 7.5mm laowa is too wide for a lot of video uses.

    • @GeekyNerdyTechy
      @GeekyNerdyTechy  Рік тому +1

      It's wider with zero distortion which will be great mostly for creative photography shots but I can see this being used on a gimbal for skateboarding videos or even on a drone with the same mount. The hard stops are an advantage over the 9mm, but the Lumix is small, light, and has Autofocus. Both are great.

      hi Rhett, good question, that's what I'm wondering too. The new 10mm Zero-D laowa offers a truly fantastic image across the entire frame wide open. I think the 9mm leica starts to offer a homogeneous image across the frame only by starting to close a bit, like 2.8 or f4... but it has autofocus. This 6mm is fantastic because it is really very wide, but apart from such extreme cases perhaps the 7.5 laowa could already be more than enough

    I just purchased the lens and I was wondering whether the lens hood is removable. If so how do you do it. I have tried twisting, pushing and pulling and no joy. I am afraid to use to much force as I don't want to damage it. Any help would be appreciated.

    hi, I was wondering if the optical performance was on par with the laowa 7.5 or 10mm which are really sharp across the frame already wide open. And why not, even at the Leica 9mm. You who have tried it what do you think?

    • @GoTravelPlanet
      @GoTravelPlanet Місяць тому +1

      @@PhotoBooth72 I don't really shoot at f2 because being a manual lens and so wide, makes it difficult to get things sharp other than what you have right in font of you, I usually go for f3.5 - f4

    • @PhotoBooth72
      @PhotoBooth72 Місяць тому

      @@GoTravelPlanet Thanks for the quick reply, ok so at f4 it's pretty sharp across the frame? What camera are you using it on? I am looking to use on the G9 II. i have the 9mm f1.7 but it's not quite wide enough when I have the ibis on, I normally use the standard ibis so it crops a little so I think it makes it about 20mm equivalent.

    • @GoTravelPlanet
      @GoTravelPlanet Місяць тому +1

      @@PhotoBooth72 It is a very sharp lens at F2 as well. But when I shoot real estate, I need sharpness all around that's why I tend to shoot at F4 on my G9 II. I do have the 9mm as well which I love, but the Laowa is my favorite. I use both lenses, what I mean is, the Laowa doesn't make the 9mm redundant, they are different and that's why I always carry both in my bag. Hope this helps

    F4 is not equivalent to f8! F4 is f4, get it right
    The dof will look like f8 but optically it is and will always be f4 and f3 and f2

    • @koos48
      @koos48 2 місяці тому

      In that case you need to go full frame and buy the Laowa 9mm. In MFT terms that would be 4.5mm!!!
      6mm MFT gives you 121.9° 9mm FF gives you 135° angle of view
