    Matt, make sure you re-terminate that Gentex horn/strobe base properly for supervision of the detachable horn/strobe.

    I've run out of ideas so here is a question, I'm resurrecting the MP-24 that's been installed my home since the 80s, replaced all the old ESL 425CTs with 2W-B detectors, new heat detector in the kitchen, etc. Did an ohm reading before and was getting 4.7k towards EOL for Zone (which is correct) and was getting about 9.8k ohms towards the NAC EOL (which is correct). I'm doing all these readings with the panel end of the field wiring disconnected, I've tested the panel with EOLs in place of the zone and nac and it works fine.
    Fast forward to now, when I do a reading I'm getting 19k on the NAC (one half of the house is testing 9.7k towards EOL so that half is okay), Zone is still fine for EOL. I remove the horn/strobe and then join the wires without it and get no reading at all, until I put it back, then it's 19k, now if I take a 10k resistor and put it at the panel then I see 9.8kish ohms that way. I've gone over and metered all the wiring connections in the area where I think the problem is, since the other half meters correct towards EOL. Any theories on that, of why it's metering so high now at 19k over the correct 9.8k, and why putting a 10k resistor at the panel field wiring is giving the correct reading, is it possible it's a bad signal device? I'm out of ideas at this point, I've checked pretty much all the wiring on the end with the issue.

      I never really ran into a problem like that before but my guess is that the panels internal resistors for zones and nacs make the reading higher when connected to the panel

    If it was a longer line with more devices, how would you find the open circuit?

      Divide and conquer, a toner would also help.

    Hey man I have a trouble on my system for 2nd floor Nac panel open circuit. I traced it down and it is on the 1st floor south side. I was wondering how do I test the strobes to see if there still good or need to be replaced. I think I could do it by testing the strobes resistance while it’s disconnected but if you could give me some pointers that would be great. Thanks man

      If the panel says open ckt coming from the nac panel it could literally be anything, a ground fault, short, batteries, or open ckt, that's just how there boosters communicate. But if you're sure it's an open ckt ok the nac the way to see if the nacs work without setting the fire panel off is if you take wires coming from the FACP off the booster and then run a wire from the aux on the booster to input 1. That'll set off the booster and whatever is connected to it. I mean hopefully it's only strobes that are connected to it. When you do that make sure it's all screwed down and check your strobes to see which are going off and not going off. There could also he a break in the wire or something so yeah it would be a good idea to check for resistance but only do that if the booster is powered down, I'm not sure if the booster already has it's own resistance so it could mess up your readings. But yeah trace it down with your meter first. If you don't find anything out it the usual do the aux to input 1 and check to see what works and doesn't

      @@FireTech7 thank you man, needed up being 2 faulty strobes. 1 more question for you I got a co detector that is wired and powered up its tests but doesn’t send the signal to the panel when trying to test it. I have replaced the co twice and have the same result. Any guidance.
      Thank you

      What kind of CO detector is it? System sensor I'm guessing? If so, those are 4 wire and have 2 form c relays for activation purposes. One is the trouble relay and the other is alarm. Make sure it's connected to the alarm relay and not the trouble relay. Make sure they aren't backwards as well. Hope this helps

      @@FireTech7 it’s a macurco co, and it matches the other wiring I have on my other co’s and there fine. I will try and confirm relays because you never know. This might help there was a system sensor that was there and it expired I couldn’t find the system sensor for my vendors so I ordered the macurco. Not sure how familiar you are with these but it should be wired the same as the systems sensor no? Thanks again man appreciate your time

    Also another thing my panel does is phone line troubles can you also make a video how to get rid of that?

    • @FireTech7
      @FireTech7  Рік тому

      I don't have this panel anymore but if you go into the programming menu and press system options you should see phone lines I believe, you're going to want to set line monitoring to N (no) for both lines, basically set everything in phone line programming to N

      Get a firefighter telephone and start plugging it in to all the jacks and make sure it's receiving at the panel. With that being said, make sure you have the systems schematic for the firefighter telephone system. When you find which one ain't working, open it up and make sure the EOL resistor is there

      Under system options you'll see misc options, I think there's like 3 misc menus? It's in one of those, it will set "strobe sync on silence" I believe and you'll want to set that to Y (yes)
