This is where I feel that reason begins to break down. Everything is turned upside down. The work has its own logic but sometimes it defies explanation. I feel Blake is pointing to something more subtle, the ungraspable nature of the "religion" he sees. Thank you for your explanation, you are adding a further dimension to my understanding of this GREAT work

I have often wondered if it could it be a devil snatching the child from heaven? The devil in the wilderness and the angel enflamed in Heaven.
