- The city of merchants, criminals and adventurers, Baldurs Gate.
In this video we look into Baldurs Gate, its lore, history and geography briefly all within 5 minutes!
This is the first in a weekly series of short lore videos! These will be done alongside the other already existing series on the channel which will now settle into a more frequent pattern!

One of the best campaigns I ever got to play in (in my opinion) was set in BG, so it's awesome to learn more and contextualize those memories :D
I have always loved reading about/around the city for sure. But never have had the opportunity to play an actual game in it! Still devoured all the video games around it though!
@@HollowTale Its A Game (Yep Its Called Baldurs Gate)
That chibi on the thumb nail is so cute. Also love this lore dive I never got to explore this place wish I did
Why thank you! A good friend of mine threw it together for me, way better than my own attempts!
I am so very much in the same boat there. I definitely want to do more with baldurs gate one day. That, waterdeep and ravenloft.
Playing Hoard of the Dragon Queen which can essentially be named Most Dangerous Tour of the Sword Coast Ever. Great to learn about these locations 🤙
I see! Yeah it certainly can from what I have read about that campaign haha. How are you finding it?
Also more to come! There's a waterdeep lore video (part one of a few as the place is super detailed) coming next week!
good timing they're announced, "BALDUR'S GATE: DESCENT INTO AVERNUS" campaign today and they're planning to release in September.
Yeah! I saw that announced for DND live I can't wait. Definitely picking it up!
@@HollowTale It's gonna be pretty cool, but worries me a bit was it mention there were vehicles...Hope it doesn't get all steampunk and drift away from the classic Bauldar's Gate setting.
@@TheDarkZeroGame aye! Well the vehicles are only in the Avernus section of the game from the previews! So that should be fine!
Would love more detail on the thieves guilds of Baldur's Gate. A video on the guilds, organizations, and locations would be welcome detailed dive into this legendary city as the overarching story of the city, it's name, and the upper and lower distinction are quite common. Great work with the animations and music!
For sure, but there's a reason that's common! It's what's usually needed as a foundation.
I will be driving back in to look at organizations, history, guilds and famous characters later down the line though!
Likely before the release of BG3!
This one was my first lore video so I tried to stick to something easier to research!
Thank you so much!
Anyone play the Balders gate 3? Looks like this is going to be game of the year. Definitely in my top 5 games of all time.
We really need that Baldurs gate 3 game that Obsidian were once in talks with Atari about. Such a waste of 2 years of planning when the Atari branch managing the deal closed their doors. Along with any hope of a BG 3. But I assume they still have the development right from WotC to make the games. They are sitting on a gold mine and do nothing. Especially after the resurgence of interest in games like Pillars of eternity, Divinity original sin and Torment tides of Numenera.
I really want to see a baldurs gate 3! Hopefully with wizards bringing out a baldurs gate based adventure path we may see something more from that side? Fingers crossed!!!
BG3 is happening and will release in Alpha later this year.
Baldurs gate 3 is in early access on steam.
How about a vid on Skull Port?
I may have to look into this more! Sounds curious!
@@HollowTale If i remember correctly it's a pirate town in Undermountain.
@@thefightingfedora2976 that does sound pretty interesting. I may have to add it to my current list to explore as the name alone has me interested haha. But certainly looking into much more lore over time.
Currently reading extensively on ravenloft for an upcoming stream so going to have to do some videos on that too!
Subbed, and did you know baldurs gate is going to console!!
Thanks! Happy to have you!
Also, yeah I love the game so much! On console is going to be interesting!
@@HollowTale they will have multiplayer on there to so that's a plus
@@meachew Aye! That is a massive plus!
@@HollowTale yep and I've even seen gameplay
i was just interested in the teaser
seriously wtf was that discusting shit XD
Good ol' Illithids! hahaha
When I Played D&D with a few of my friends and being dungeon master for the first time, my first campaign started in with the players being in Baldur’s Gate having a meal at the Elfsong Tavern, and the other spots I had to improvise as other sections of the Sword Coast.
The elfsong tavern is such an iconic location I love it!
100% support the dive into lore... Though it would be remiss of me to not recommend touching on Eberron.
Oh I am DEFINITELY looking to do Eberron. I am currently going to cover a few miscellaneous forgotten realms locations I have read into more as well as some famous characters.
But I am planning on covering Eberron down the line in depth along with Ravenloft as well!
(Suggestions on reading for Eberron is always appreciated )
@@HollowTale Wonderful! Heirs of Ash was the trilogy that best summed it up for me. Definitely a good read. Excellent video, good sir! Can't wait to see more.
@@derekburge5294 I will check it out as soon as I get the chance!
Thanks for the suggestions! Always helps.
