- Rona Barrett says the most famous movie star of the moment is...Linda Lovelace. Also, note that Clement Freud seems quite upset that "private" information about celebrities is now fair game for gossip. It turns out he had a reason to worry: After he passed away, there were several credible allegations that he was a child sex predator.
Firstly, thank you for posting this video, I wish we had more like it available. Secondly, I am however appalled, that anyone today, would take up his side of their argument knowing the truth about his being a sexual predator of underage girls. Of course he hated people like Rona Barrett, he was terrified someone would expose him for the monster he was. I have a feeling her confrontation of him was caused by a gut feeling that a lot more was going on in his head other than just a disdain for gossip. He admits he had never seen or read her work, why such strong opinions then? He was definitely projecting his fear on her and I believe she sensed that. There is an excellent documentary that came out after his death that interviewed 2 of the women. And for anyone doubting this, his widow came out and apologized to the two women. Apparently, she knew her husband well. Rona Barrett was the first to master the art of the celebrity interview which paved the way for Barbara Walters. Rona was the first to expose the terrible drug problem in Hollywood, she was a respected and feared journalist because people believed her. Watch her interviews on UA-cam with the Television Foundation, they are great. I don't believe she was ever sued for libel, made a lot of enemies, but that's what happens when you expose the truth. Again, a fascinating piece of history and cultural relevance. Loved the Linda Lovelace comments to, strange how details like her relevance would now be forgotten. Jack Paar's reputation by many accounts speaks for itself. Now he was a truly vicious and superior jerk!

Clement, very flawed, is correct about Barrett. She was vicious and superior. This clip is fascinating. Good to see it in an upgraded quality. Thank you, Jeff.

Clement seems a lil under the influence but he makes good points
Clement Freud was rude and hostile! Roba was grated with such disrespect. Jack should have intervened.
