Does your CNC router use rubber belts? Bad idea. Ask before buying-- CNC Tech by CNC Factory

- Rubber belts get loose over time and can cause backlash and inaccurate cutting. Worse, they require periodic retensioning for maintenance. To avoid these, look for 5th Generation (5G) CNC machines that use rack and pinion motors for consistent and absolute positioning.

I just ran into a calibration error because of timing belts. This went unnoticed until i carved a circular design. You are absolutely correct.
There's still a rubber belt between the motor pulley and the rack.
ha
Building a custom CNC router for cutting highly abrasive material with even more abrasive dust of it. I just can’t use a ball screw or even a air cooled tool spindle.
So if you have special applications, think beyond “industry standards”
Thank you CNC Factory! I had no idea rubber belts were archaic. Really good to know.

They are not, don't fall for advertising.
Rack and pinion is invented 1930, timing belt - 1945.
All have different purpose.
i like to learn about CNC machines.

@@CNCFactoryusa thankyou.
Just looking to buy a machine to make parts in house, felt my ego shattered 😅...
Don't feel discouraged, check all details before cancelling your approach, I'm still building it even after all the warnings, there are a lot other belt utilization methods, not for heavy duty applications ofcourse, but it's still usable for plasma cutter, wood engraving/carving milling and laser operations.
A personal computer is not powerful enough hmm that's a statement.
