  • Sir Edward William Elgar 1857 -1934. An English composer, many of whose works have entered the British and international classical concert repertoire. Among his best-known compositions are orchestral works including the Enigma Variations, the Pomp and Circumstance Marches, concertos for violin and cello, and two symphonies. He also composed choral works, including The Dream of Gerontius, chamber music and songs. He was appointed Master of the King's Musick in 1924.
On this video - something unashamedly patriotic!
Defining events and leading characters of over a thousand years British history condensed into this short video.
Elgar himself did not intend this music to be jingoistic but it ended up defining an era in British History and it has become synonymous with a typical British reserved sense of national pride.

In my country, St. George also kills the deagon and we are also proud to be one of the first european parliaments. I love this video, its trascendense and of course "Terra de Gloria i Esperança" by E. Elgar.
Thanks and our best wishes to you and yours.

Thank you. St. George certainly has an interesting past and as for the dragon.....
What he stands for strength, honour and chivalry are still valid today. Great to think he has wider appeal. Thank you for a great comment and for supporting the channel. x
