I bought this one partially based on your initial comments and it still works great for me. It was a pain to get dialed in initially but has worked great sense. It does definitely get clogged up when using a shop vac. I also use the same push blocks and they are great.

I also have the 8" Wahuda Jointer and got it when it first came out. It is wonderful and perfect for a small shop. I use it all the time for the same reasons you mentioned. I just make sure to keep boards at 5 ft max as you said. Most of my projects are less than that anyway (cutting boards, end tables and such). Great review!
I highly recommend the company. I've emailed with the owner and he was prompt to respond and seems like a nice guy. I even had a broken dust extractor (plastic) on arrival and emailed customer service on a Sunday. To my shock it was responded to on the same day! I had the piece in 3 days without anything other than showing a picture of the crack.

The flex of the fence takes it out of the running for me. I’ll save up for a full side jointer with cast iron features.

Ahh, the elusive shop jointer, so many choices of such varied integrity out there. My table saw can only do so much sketchy jointing. Tubafors and pushblocks are the only way to get the job done... Now I will need a bigger shop.

I have a 6 inch powermatic jointer that I love but I also have the Wen version of this 8 inch jointer (I am almost certain the Wen is the same jointer) and I use it when I need to face joint some wider stock. I think it is awesome. It's smooth, relatively quiet, and does a great job.

I've been wanting to make tables for a long time and haven't been able to get access to a table saw since I watched your vid about using the level. My father-in-law had his Jeep parked in the workshop just sitting and taking up all the space for over a year and just sold it 2 weeks ago.
I have the Cutech 8" version of this jointer. Fairly new and I am impressed with output so far. One thing you might be interested in is they created fence supports or stiffeners. They make the fence rock solid and I am pretty sure you could retrofit parts to the older Wahuda jointers. Give Cutech a call as they do sell parts here in the US.

Bought this over a year ago. With the pull out feeder and cast iron top, it was great value. I went with a carbide chips over the blade, as blades are expensive and do not have a long life. I use it all the time on mostly hard woods. For the smaller shop, it is perfect. Yes, the fence could be a little more solid, but it is square and easily adjustable. Customer support was supreme. Oh, and it came with blocks that are perfectly adequate.
I just got this jointer for Christmas and love it. My only issue was the knob for the fence sliding bracket was broken in the packaging. I called Wahuda directly and their customer service is excellent. They put the part in the mail the same day. I’m looking forward to utilizing this tool for years to come. The cheap fence scares me a bt but I have a nieghbor who has a metal shop so I would ask him to beef it up a bit. Also and in no small part, as a christian leader myself, I appreciate your testimony especially since you have no problem sharing just like Jesus expects. I will enjoy your channel. I have a successful Etsy shop making high end dovetailed Keepsake boxes and my 6 inch jointer just doesn't get the job done for flattening over 6 inches. Peace be with you my Brother!
I have the Cutech version of this one, which predates the Wahuda by about a year. It's worked just fine, for my small shop. Looks like we have the same experiences with it. Great little jointer as long as you can live within its limitations (power, size, depth of cut).

6 months later and I'm still unable to get the out feed table set up properly.
I had this jointer and even with help from a few phone calls with Wahuda, could not get the tables setup to run properly. I found the table adjustment method very fiddly and got frustrated with it after trying to get it to work for several weeks. I was excited to get this jointer, but the fiddly setup process made it a no-go for me. I returned it.
I've had the Wahuda 10" jointer since it came out. I agree about the fence being too flexible, but if you are careful with it, it will maintain 90 degrees during the cut. Otherwise, one of the best built machines I've ever had, even compared to Powermatic. $700 then for a 10" wide spiral cutter head jointer. What a bargain! Even though there are fewer cutters than a Shelix, you can push as slow as you like and get a beautiful smooth cut. And you can joint longer boards with in & outfeed supports beyond the machine's extensions.
Also, great dust extraction for me with 4" hose on my dust collection system.

Thanks for the review. I am a beginner and have been fixing to get a jointer and have looked at Jet, Craftsman and Porter Cable due to the price point. I like Wahuda but it was out of my budget. But I just checked (23 Jul '22) and the Wahuda jointers r on sale on their website! So if y'all don't win here, you at least get the knowledge that it is a solid product and go buy it on sale!
I have the 6" version and would say my experience is on par with yours. Had it for more than a year, with a few thousand feet run thru it. It has chewed through gnarly mulberry, elm & ash firewood (to debark for the lathe when the table & band saw both went out of commission 2 days apart) along with locust & hickory lumber (among several species of other softer hardwoods) and this thing has never flinched!
Now if they could get their fence quality to match their cutter head force! Even putting supports on the far ends of the fence instead of one center mount would likely help a ton.
If you're watching this & end up purchasing this please note when making a cart/stand & using a shop vac....as he mentioned shop vacs do a decent, but less than perfect job at chip extraction. I would strongly advise having the stand/cart open/hallow underneath (not permanently mounted on a flat surface) to allow chips to fall thru! And I wouldn't try running it without any sort of dust/chip extraction ever again, unlike some other benchtop makes you'll have a complete chip jam in no time. Thinking you can be lazy saving 60 seconds not attaching the shop vac will cost a few minutes fishing out jammed chips.

I have the 6 inch Wahuda.... and I love it! A lot of what you expressed relates to the smaller jointer. Well made and reliable. I use it all the time.
Wahuda now sells a fence stabilizing kit on Amazon. I bought the 10 inch jointer after watching your video, and the kit was in the recommended. Hopefully that fixes any stabilization issues.

I rarely use tubatens so that is not a problem. However when I work wood I almost always use safety gear, ear plugs, safety glasses and pushblocks. Love the magnet idea for the tools. Hope I win.
I'm interested in getting a jointer, so I watched your review a couple times, then went looking for what might be available in our area. Looks like there are a few different names on what seems to be the same jointer. King International makes one and it happens to be on sale right now ($625, from $827) at one of the woodworking stores not far from us. Humm, now I have to find a way to sell it to my Mrs. Thanks for your review.

It will only handle up to an eight inch wide board. You would need to ten inch version of this jointer to do ten inch boards.

7:03 The GRR-RIPPER from Microjig also has that drop down feature. I know for the older kits, it was not included, and had to be purchased separately, which is what I had to do, and I'm not sure about the newer kits. On a side note, I just picked up a (not so gently) used, 6 inch jointer (not a bench top) from Facebook Marketplace VERY affordably, although it did need some TLC and elbow grease to clean it up, and now it purrs like a kitten. The table tops were pretty rusty, and now they look almost brand new. The only thing I want to do now, is add a Shelix cutter to it, and give it a fresh paint job after I move. Having said all that, I'm not going to enter this giveaway, which hopefully allows someone else who needs this in their shop, win it. GOOD LUCK to everyone who needs this jointer in their shop!!!!!

I brought this after watching your video on this a year or two ago. it works great for smaller projects but I hate it for bigger stuff.

I had one (porter cable) I got at Lowes back in 2001. I had to put it to rest 2 years ago. I've been without since then.
That'd be a game changer for me. I've been jointing on my router table for years now... so there's some serious limitations. But having 1 arm/leg makes a lot of tools unobtainable... especially when budget goes to medical expenses. Lol.
Excellent review Matt. I have the same jointer - purchased only 3 months ago - and absolutely love it. As you say, it has changed the way I work in my small shop. You hit all the key points (likes and dislikes) right on the head. On the point about the dust extraction clogging up, I have gotten used to that and simply pause when doing big jobs, to periodically clear out the buildup of wood chips/dust by inserting a nozzle attached to the end of my vacuum hose, (shop vac extraction with 2 1/4” hose) into the exhaust port and that does the trick. Most of the stock I work with (Ash, Purple Heart, Mahogany) starts out as 1 or 2 x 6s or 8s, so my 8” model is perfect for me. Often I don’t even need to do any sanding after this beast does it’s job. Very happy to see you put your stamp of approval on the Wahuda as I was a bit skeptical when I made the decision to buy - it’s turned out to be one of my best decisions in building out my inventory of power tools. Keep up your great work.

Hi Matt, I thought your review was right on. I have the 10” version. It’s absolutely great but the fence is garbage. It’s amazing that these companies don’t market accessory upgrade options like a cast iron fence, they would make so much money! Anyone know where you could get a better fence for this jointer?

I set mine to the height of my outfeed table for my saw so i can support it. No problems. Its nice
You know, mine (10 inch) came last week. It comes with stabilizers that you screw into the back to stabilize the fence on both sides. The jointer has screw holes for them. I didn't know so I bought the stabilizers separately. Apparently, if you have an older Wahuda jointer you have to drill holes for them (come with self tapping screws.
I have been having problems with my 8inch Wahuda jointer. The infeed table does not stay in parallel with the outfeed table with being lowered. The left side lowers before the right side. A lot of times the knobs would get stuck on the fence, the lock knob for depth of cut for the infeed table, and I would have to use an adjustable wrench to free them up.
I'm actually surprised you haven't created a video showing how to either use store-bought roller stands or custom-built stands to provide support for longer jointer jobs to go along with the Wahuda jointer. If you keep it on your workbench while using it, a short stand with a PVC pipe roller made to the height of the discharge side of the jointer would be a great tool to have for longer boards while an adjustable roller stand on the infeed side of the jointer would let you handle long pieces and be put away when not needed.
I have the Cutech version. They sell it under many brands.....Grizzley, Rikon, etc.
Great informative video. I have been reading reviews for two months trying to decide which jointer to get and had narrowed it down to the Grizzly G0947 8" jointer or the Rikon 8" jointer. Then, this morning I found the Wahuda on Amazon and it looks just like the Grizzly and the Rikon except the Wahuda has carbide tipped blades and a cast iron table. So, more research had to begin and the first video I found was 731 when you first got this jointer. Which was amazing to hear how you come to own it. There are still truly good people in this world. Then within two hours you upload a review video on owning it after two years and you and Mrs. 731 start a give away!! WOW. Works in mysterious ways, my friend. Mysterious ways. . To a new wood worker, you are a true inspiration by watching your growth and how far you have come from your older videos to now. Keep up the good work
How hard was it to set up? I'm looking at the 6 in. I am looking at this and the one made by Grizzly. I'm using your 4 ft level way for edges right now.
I’ve been eyeing this planer for a very long time. Just found out that the Cutech version has a 12” version as well. Also a recent one I found on amazon from that Vevor brand was an 8” jointer with a helical head for less than $400?! After I saw it I immediately went to youtube to see if anyone had a video on it but found none. Maybe a recent release? Not sure if it performs any good though as a lot didn’t care for the Vevor planner. Still wanting a Wahuda or Cutech though. Haha

Seems all the table top jointers are too small for my application. I want to build a 6FT table. What should I be using to flatten boards?
Have you tried putting the Jointer at an angle near the corner of your bench and extending the length of the boards you can joint with adjustable Roller Stands? It might be a viable work-around...

I know someone even prefer that when gluing but, less clamps, bit not me
I do push front of board to outfeed table and it looks even worse
Like i have to get gut done few times then i get strigt edge

How does the Wahuda jointer compare with the Dewalt planer in terms of its decibel level? I have been around the Dewalt and know what it sounds like, so it would be a good comparison noise-wise.
Very close to the same sound lol. It's about as loud as the DeWALT
I have a Wen 8" jointer and it works very much like the Wahuda looks like. One difference is the Wen has a cast aluminum table. Probably a drawback, not sure. Sometimes I get good results and sometimes not. It seems like if I have to run a piece more than 4 or 5 times I wind up with a wedge shaped board and often times the board will be to thin on one end. When edge jointing I often wind up with banana. Dont know if its me or the jointer. Love your channel Mat. I never miss watching. Thanks
I could really use a new joiner. I was looking at the 6” Wahuda, I think it was the 6” anyway, a couple years ago but couldn’t afford it at the time. Before that I did have a rather junky bench top joiner that I finally got rid of because it never worked very well, it was so difficult to get adjusted and it didn’t stay adjusted, you couldn’t even find parts for it online, plus I didn’t have the manual. It was something that I bought used and that was probably why the person selling it was getting rid of it lol. I always enjoy your videos and get some good information from them. I think I’ll be looking at those again soon.

Just starting out at woodworking since retirement. Now I have a jointer and they call for applying a wax to the iron table before use . What type of wax do you recommend? I could not find that Johnson paste wax , the one you said stinks, in any of the store around my home. I don't mind ordering a product online but I don't want to order just any product without getting some info and opinions. I enjoy your channel very much and I watch usually at least 2 times a week. One more thing how do I order plans off your youtube site?

Most people use johnson's but any clear paste wax should work. Look for something that is carnuba based and make sure it contains no silicone as that can contaminate wood and create all sorts of problems for finishing.
Really like your show and your attitude. I have always enjoyed woodworking but until I recently retired from being in the foundry business I did not have the time to spend at it. I have some wood working equipment and my next item I have been wanting is a planner. The Wahuda is one that I have been interested in. The 2 items that appeared in your presentation are 1. Do I still Like it? and 2. Spiral not Helical . Thanks again for your show.

Has you experienced this problem ?. I think it may be a design flaw. Once you get the jointer co-planner etc and everything is perfect you then proceed to lower the infeed table and problems start. Because the internal adjustment treaded rod is on the left side, the table immediately becomes out of accuracy due to sloppiness in the treaded rod. The indeed table favours the left side in tension during lowering and raising. Hard to explain but the table doesn't not continue being parallel in the original set position.
How do I enter the Wahuda jointer give away?

No. Jointing will make a single face flat. A planer will make the other face flat and parallel to the jointed face.
Any limitations/negatives from the cutterhead having only two cutters per facet, or from the cutters not being set at an angle?
I haven't had any issues with them.
Really wanted to get this jointer when I was looking around last year. Decided I couldn't fork over the cash and ended up settling on the much cheaper Craftsman 6" jointer and haven't been totally satisfied with it. Now this video is making me really regret not listening to the classic woodworker saying, "Buy once, cry once" lol. Hoping that this giveaway might right some wrongs for me! Love the videos :)

Firstly, love your videos, beginner woodworker suffering from gear envy every time, secondly T&C's still relate to the toprock boxes as the main prize, finally as a non US resident, can I enter and have prize delivered to family in the states? FWIW, Wahuda has a 10" version for only another $150, could be worth it for those considering buying it. Better to have too much than too little.
Also -- Wahuda now has a 13" planer using spiral cutterheads, too, with a similar pricing scheme -- a bit more pricey than the cheapest planers, but, once you replace with spiral cutterheads, it's cheaper.
I had a thought the other day. I see guys on here all the time building bench to hold their miter saw, these bench usually take up the whole of one side of their shop., and the have a cut out for the mitersaw that levels the bed of the saw to the bench. This way they work safely with lo ger boards. My question is, why not incorporate the jointer in the bench the same way, also allowing you to jointing boards safely without having to wrestle with it.
