Ah Rusty Higgins....thank you for sending Toni the email that Daryl wrote to you right after they split up, Rusty sent it to her after Daryl passed away on January 2, 2019 at age 76. Daryl wrote in the email : "Toni left me..as well she should have" He knew why she left he just never thought she would actually do it..it saved their relationship literally. They grew closer after they were divorced then when they were married is what I have read in interviews and she moved back to Prescott the last few years of his life to become his medical power of attorney, to make damn sure he was comfortable and had great caregivers and had a wonderful place to live and of course was with him when he took his last breath...Love did keep them together ultimately. She honored his request to have his ashes scattered around Granite Mountain in Prescott. Just one of the greatest couples ever...made such beautiful music together...RIP Daryl Dragon!! Love you Toni!!!

I love Captain & Tennille, and I'm not ashamed to admit it! This is the period when they switched record labels (A&M to Casablanca), but the hits stopped coming after "Do That To Me One More Time".

With his musicianship they should’ve been huge in the 80’s but I think they were too wholesome for the pop scene of that era.

It broke my heart when I read that he suffered with PTSD from being beaten by his father as a child. I think that's why he was so quiet.

Captain's persona was so gentle and likeable. Maybe he was difficult in his personal life but he was a polite and pleasant entertainer.

How did Captain manage to get his wife to get away from him???
She was drop dead gorgeous, seemed like the perfect ideal wife!!!!

I think so too...just the whole package really. He was just shut off emotionally and was abused as a kid and just could not show any kind of affection or warmth. She stayed hoping she could change him...yes she stayed almost 40 years but its hard to break away from someone you've been with for so long. He blew it but she has said it wasn't his fault really he was just incapable of it. No matter how much you want to change someone they are ultimately going to be who they are. His parents really screwed all their 5 kids up. Two committed suicide and they all suffered with different issues

By 1979, Toni Tennille was no longer wearing her signature hair-do. That same year was when my mother thought it would be cute to have me wear her old 'do.
