Hi I have a second generation 2006 JDM subaru forester. Everything works in my instrument cluster. But the trip meter will no reset physically. I does reset after disconnecting the negative battery terminal.. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you
Great video. I have a 2016 Subaru STi and just bought a replacement cluster. I also have a sop8 programming clip/usb dongle coming tomorrow. I'm going to try and transfer the original hex from the original eeprom over to the new chip (after backing each one up of course) but my concern is: Are both the mileage & key security stored on the same chip? The chip I suspect is the one to reprogram has MXIC MX25L3235E on the chip. Any chance the VIN is stored on any of these chips?
Yes the key and odometer reading are both stored on that chip. So if you transfer the data on the IC from the original cluster to the replacement cluster then the replacement cluster should show your original mileage and the car should start.
@@AutomotiveCircuitSolutions Thank you for the confirmation. I had to cancel the programming clip I had originally ordered - read some forums where they said the voltage wasn't right and could damage the chip. I'm back to looking around for a good clip/usb dongle that will work for this. Any advice appreciated! & Thanks again for the reply.
@@AutomotiveCircuitSolutions I may end up trying that. My soldering skills are "ok" at best and I worry about screwing up the only working chip I have. The last soldering/re-work station I bought on Amazon SUCKED - the hot air was not hot enough to remove components from the PCB board. So I returned the station and looking around for another. Again, BIG THANKS for the quick informative replies! =)
I think you need this EEPROM cable, I have used its very good, don't need to remove IC from pcb board, its for Msop / Tssop, etc, see below, www.3ello.com/home
what did you do at 4:40 taking it away from the screen? The needle was off when you brought it back...
excellent work
Can you do this on a 2009 subaru legacy???

@@mysticrider76 We us a $2k programmer for this. Why not just transfer the entire chip like we did in the video?

So in this repair only the eeprom chip was swapped and no reprogramming done? VIN, immobilizer and mileage transferred over on just the chip? Thanks
That's right. That chip stores mileage and immobilizer data.
@@AutomotiveCircuitSolutions do you know if the previous Forester generation (2009-2013) works the same way?
is there a way to get the replacement cluster to work and start the car without transferring that chip over to the replacement cluster ?
Hello
What temp did you set the heat gun to?
I've got a 2005 outback sedan. I swapped out the instrument cluster and I need a chip swap from one to the other. Can I contact you?
The same thing I’m going through
We’re could I go to get this done ?
Hi can you please guide me with these two forester cluster
How to clone?
Is this the same process for an older one? 2008 Subaru Impreza?
Should be similar.
Do general mechanics do this work ?
No. This kind of work is typically for specialized electronic repair shops.
Do you think I could do this?, i'm pretty okay with the soldering!
I don't know if pretty okay will cut it on this one. The pins are very close together. This job takes a seasoned soldering technician to do.

Which one is for the key code only pls?
the chip stores both the key code and the odometer. You can send it to us we can transfer just the key if thats what you need.
Estimado como saco las agujas de ese modelo
