I remember when this came out. Him and Kenny Wayne shepherd set the charts on fire both young and very very good.
Blue On Black is still so so good
@@deanarjones9114 Five Finger Death Punch’s cover is pretty awesome
@@deanarjones9114 they absolutely haven't done enough KWS. I think they HAVE done Blue on Black but they need to get Deja Voodoo in the lineup too
@@TammyBeth1015 I wore my Ledbetter Heights cd OUT!🤣 (mainly on Deja Voodoo)
@@jwoo1800 Not that the DP covers suck, they simply don't sit right with me...seems way too poser in a way.
This is a great song, and I was totally amazed how old he was at the time. Lang released a independent record at 14 . He was signed to A&M Records at 15, and released this song a year later. Crazy stuff. By the way; he started playing at age 12. That shows you how naturally talented he is.
For the last couple of years, Jonny Lang has had vocal cord issues and has taken time off to rest and heal them.
My wife’s uncle signed him at a&m
His name is spelled Jonny
EVERYBODY was blown away at how soulful he sounded at such a young age. I believe he was 16 when this video was made, and 15 when he actually recorded this song!!!❤
Thank you, thank you, thank you SO MUCH for taking my suggestion to react to this song from Jonny Lang, Jordan and Amber! You made my night when I saw this video on your channel last night! I rewound the moment J realized that skinny young kid was the one singing, so many times! That was the moment I had been waiting for ever since I mentioned Jonny Lang on your channel. And I LOVED seeing how much you both got into the song, especially Jay's head intense head bobbing. I can't say thank you enough! That was SO fun! Since you asked for more, if you want another upbeat song off the same album, might I suggest you try "Hit the Ground Running". If you want to check out a slower but darker song, definitely listen to "Darker Side". "Rack 'Em Up" is a fun song about a guy who spends his life playing pool. If you want to hear something with a bit of Eric Clapton's influence, listen to "Wander This World", which is the title track from his second album. Thank you for trusting my suggestion! Now I only ask you to trust me one more time, and give one of Tesla's straight up rock songs a chance, rather than their ballads and slow stuff. If you will listen to either "Modern Day Cowboy" or "Edison's Medicine" you will not only love these bangers for the music, but you will appreciate the depth of the social commentary in their lyrics. Trust me on this!
I remember seeing him perform on Conan when he was 16. Yeah. Amazing!
Jonny is so underated and one of the best song writers and guitarists. This album was extraordinary. He started very young and is still rocking the blues
underrated is so overused
johnny
@@sunnystormy4973 very few people know about him and he does not have an "h" in his name.
@L Reed
why does the title say: "johnny" then ?

Blues artists never get enough radio play. Lang been cutting record after record since the nineties and they have all been fire!
Such a huge talent from a young age, Johnny is 16 years old here!!
Wow. He recorded this when he was 15! The album was released a day before his 16th birthday.
@@darthdzl That's insane !!
The background singer was Becca Brammlet. Her mother was Bonnie Brammlet, a very popular singer herself.
Yes. She was in the band, Delaney And Bonnie and she is the writer of the song, “Superstar” made most popular by The Carpenters but was originally a blues rock track. Bonnie has her own version of the song out there worth checking out. It’s amazing.
Was Delaney his dad?
@@brianherrington7226 Yep, Becca Brammlet is Delaney and Bonnie's daughter.
In the regular video of this tune it's speculated that the dark haired chick is his mom!!!
the two girls on the couch are his sisters
I have been suggesting this guy for a while now. He is a blues, gospel rock singer songwriter guitarist. He was 16 when he did this song in 97,he played guitar on album etc at an early age ,recorded 5 albums all hitting the top 50 on the Billboard 200 chart. He with many others are featured in The Blues Brothers 2000.
It is time for you guys to revisit the Blues Brothers... that second movie was loads of fun, and there is some amazing music! I got the chance to tell Erykah Badu how much I loved her role in the the movie.
@@mamaasaiz I’ve been saying the same thing
Blues Brothers 2000 was how I was introduced to some of these great artists. John Lang, Blues Travelers, and Erykah Badu are all in the 2nd movie. We are looking forward to the reaction one of these days.
I remember him, but what happened, he was great 👍and so young
@@Joseph-me9xv He found jebus.
I got to see Johnny play live on the same stage as Clapton and Santana. It was phenomenal!
You two have to see Marc Broussard singing “Home.” It will blow your minds!
Marc does an amazing version of BS&T's "I'll Love You More Than You'll Ever Know".
Listen to anything from Marc's Save Our Soul albums.
We need a reaction from Marc Broussard's "Home".
Don’t forget Tab Benoit too.
Saw him with Buddy Guy and another Buddy protege, Quinn Sullivan. Amazing.
Straight up TALENT!!! You can't fake what that boys got.
I managed stereo stores when Johnny Lang hit the charts. He was so like Steve Ray Vaughn and Jeff Healy to me. So young and so talented!
Hard to believe he was only 16 when he recorded this!
14 actually. 15 when album released
@@ThePaul1022 Wow, that's crazy
This is a rabbit hole worth going down and looking forward to more reactions
The most incredible thing about him is that he really was a prodigy, From Fargo ND! How does that happen? But, you know, I'm just so happy it did!!
Not that many 16 year old guitar players have that soulful feel in their playing. That usually comes later with age, but this dude is gifted straight from God.
Love this song! This song was released the day before his 16th birthday! ❤❤❤❤
The back up singer on this song is Belkka Bramlett is the woman with black hair
This whole album is KILLER, with a huge shout-out to Bekka Bramblett (daughter of Delaney & Bonnie).
jAmber, you should hear Bonnie's cover of Janis Joplin's Piece Of My Heart
Still Raining,Walking Away,Breakin’ Me,Rack Me Up,Darker Side,When I Come to You,Red Light,basically just about anything by Johnny.
He had the best band and back up singer any 15 year old ever had.
“Good Morning Little Schoolgirl” is off this same album and you’ll love it too. This whole album is amazing!
Johnny Lane is awesome. His song Is it still raining is another good song.
Johnny was 15 at the time. His music has gotten even better with age.
This boy can play the blues! Had his first cd and it was awesome! Everybody was like have you heard that teenager that plays the blues like SRV and sings like he’s spent 30 years in a smoke filled bar? Great song and reaction!
Jay & Amber, he was only 16 at the time!!! You'll love his "Wander This World" and "There's Gotta Be a Change" !!!!!
edit - this song was released when he was 16, but recorded when he was 15! Bekka Bramlett - backing vocals.
"There's Gotta Be a Change" was written by Gwendolyn Collins, wife of bluesman Albert Collins.
I'd also strongly recommend Albert Collins "Master Charge” and "Conversation with Collins" !!! Great pick today!!
"Wander This World" is a masterpiece.
@@Redundant_underscore you were right about Long Time Coming. I subbed in a better song, imo.
@@surlechapeau - it was still better than "Turn Around."
Bekka Bramlett is the daughter of Delaney and Bonnie Bramlett who make up the duo Delaney and Bonnie whom I don't think has been reacted to on this channel! Might I suggest 'Never Ending Song of Love' or 'Only You Know and I Know' for starters.
He wasn't yet 17 when this song came out. "Still Raining" "Breakin' Me", and the "Levee" are all real good songs to check out.
Love Still Rainin’
The Lie To Me album is phenomenal. My favorite is Rack Em Up. Jonny Lang is so talented ❤
That’s my fave as well.
Rack ‘em up is pretty great but my favorite is darker side
Johnny Lang was a prodigy born out of his time, he really reminds me of Steve Winwood at the same age. ✌️
He recorded "Lie to Me" at 16. Johnny's 42 years old now. His second album "Wander This World" is fantastic too. "Walking Away" is great from the second album...
Cherry red wine is a fave from that album too
@@TheChick24 Yes...true 👍
Watched him at Memphis in May when he was only 17! He’s still so great!
Cool-i was at that show myself
Glad you’ve discovered a new blues guitarist. The legendary Johnny Winter has to be next.
Jonny is sooooo goood! I saw him open for Aerosmith when he was 16! My favorite song of his is called darker side, it’s super bluesy. Jonny opened for the stones and bb king also and bb king called him a phenomenon at 16. He and Kenny Wayne Shepard came out at the same time and are both blues and amazing guitarists but Kenny doesn’t do most of his own singing. Also, I think the blond back up singer was his sister. She was on a season of American idol back in the day.
Jonny was 15 when he recorded this, the album dropped a day before he turned 16. I've seen him about 10 times over the yrs. He's 42 now n still kicks ass. Catch him in concert he's fantastic!
Seen him when he was 15, blown away by this kid, loved his music ever since. Try rack em up. Great reaction as always
Yes! Rack 'Em Up is excellent and fun.
I saw him at a bar in southern MN when he was 14! Back then he was "Kid Jonny Lang".
The whole record is wonderful.
Seen Jonny Lang a few times in small venues. Such a talent!
You might be interested in hearing/seeing him sing "634-5789" with Wilson Pickett and Eddie Floyd. The song, by Wilson Pickett, is featured in "The Blues Brothers 2000" movie and they're in a video/movie clip together for the song. He was around seventeen years old at the time.
Oh I hope they do great suggestion 🙋🏻♀️

Thank you. 🙂
I second this suggestion
I guess we'll find out if they need some lovin. If they do, they'll call on you. They've got your number :D

Thanks. 🙂
LOOOOOOOVE JONNY LANG! The background singers are his family Y'all have to watch Still
rainin' official video!
Thank you for this reaction he was 16 at this time
Two great tunes by Johnny Lang are " Rack `Em Up and Matchbox . " I would choose Rack Em Up first . Also , I have a great suggestion that I promise you both will love !! His name is Billy Strings and the song is Dust In A Baggie . Which he wrote and there`s a video of him first playing and his friends recording it and putting it on youtube . He`s probably 12 years old . He started playing guitar when he was 4 . He`s around 30 years old now and has played at The Grand Ole Opry and so many other places . He has several cd`s out . And to hear another side of him , he sings a song that was done by Doc Watson called Was I Born To Die . And on this song it`s just him singing . Nothing else . Both awesome tunes . And a truly amazing , down to earth young man . I do hope you react to him . Not for me , but for yourselves and all of your other listeners . Love you both . May God bless and keep you and yours safe .
He was 16 when he did this song and he's still performing. I suggested this song a year ago. So glad you finally heard it
I think he was 15 when he recorded this song and 16 in the video. He was part of a group of kids into the blues and under 17 there was *Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Shannon Curfman and Jonny Lang* all great guitarist, Jonny and Shannon had strong vocals. Some other tunes ya might wanna check out by *Jonny Lang : Still Raining, Walking Away, Breakin' Me, Rack Em'Up, Red Light and Good Morning Little Schoolgirl* just to name a few. *Love ❤️ Peace ☮️ and Happiness 😃 Y'all , Rock to Roll With !*
Lang was 16 when he recorded this song. Greatness was in motion already. Still tours and, like fine wine, has gotten better with age. Nice rabbit hole you found, RSR. Happy listening!
I've been into blues and southern rock since back in the 70s. Of course Stevie Ray Vaughan, is my #1 favorite blues player, but Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and Johnny Lang are a couple of very close contemporary seconds in my book. Especially this particular Johnny Lang song. It's absolutely awesome!
I am thrilled you have finally reacted to Johnny Lang! He was only 15 years old when he recorded this song. I love his song "Not Right."
Try Johnny Lang's "Rack em Up" Fun one about playing pool. And he still kills it on the guitar.
16 years old,,,,, so much soul!!!!!
"A quitter never wins", "Darker side", Missing your love", When I come to you", "Still raining", "Wander this world", "Cherry red wine", and his cover of Edgar WInter's " Dying to live" are all great songs
So glad you're sampling Jonny. I started listening to him in the mid 90's and bought most of his albums. He's terribly talented. Lie to Me, Wander This World and Long Time Coming are my favorite of his albums. Walking Away is a good, bluesy song to sample. I first heard of him when he was featured on CBS Sunday Morning in 1997. He'd just released Lie To Me. The interview is on You Tube.
"Good Morning Little School Girl" is a blues classic that Johnny makes his own, you'll never forget it.
Oh my goodness! Johnny Lang is amazing! When I Come to you, Breaking Me, Matchbox, Hit the Ground Running, Walking Away, Second Guessing, Anything's Possible, Rack'em Up and the list goes on! By far, one of my faves!!!
The dude doesn't have a bad song.🎤🎸
So much soul in this young man’s voice, and mean guitar to go with it.
This is ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS EVER!!! Good call. Can you believe that he is only 16 years old here???
I love this entire album.
Rock, blues, soul, raw and unapologetic! Boy has got a serious gift!!
Oh sorry HI from Brooklyn...lol ~Red
He was 16 when this album came out, the whole album kicks ass and worth a listen for sure.
What an amazing talent Jonny has! He was 16 years old when this song came out. He looks like a baby, but he has an old soul. This is a song I've had on my playlist and had on repeat many times!
I seen Him at an outdoor show when this came out. He's a child prodigy. He found God and now preforms gospel music.
Ya'll gotta dip into his later gospel stuff, like "Anything's Possible", "Thankful", and "Blew Up (The House)". He's a beast.
I giggled when you said "The Kid". When he first hit, he was called "Kid Jonny Lang". Not too bad for a kid from Fargo, North Dakota....LOL!
Johnny Lang is incredible and the fact he was a teen when he recorded it, and his voice and soul is so strong! Still Raining is also good.
Saw him opening up for Aerosmith and he blew them off the stage. Got a standing ovation and even came out for an encore and replayed this song
I saw this young man live in concert right around this time. He was 15-ish? I saw him play and sing in ways that defied the logic of his years. He and Kenny Wayne Shepherd hit around the same time and were both so amazing. But Johnny was the double threat of the two since he could play AND sing.
Another one of his tracks I really enjoyed was Jonny Lang - Breakin' Me. If you're interested in more Love the content
I first saw him on the Disney channel in the mid 90s. It was basically a bio about him being a child prodigy. Breaking’ Me is probably my favorite Jonny Lang song, but he had a lot of great ones!
Saw Johnny in concert a few years ago on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He still sounds great and his playing is even better!!
Sadly due to health issues with his voice Jonny is no longer performing. In January 2020 per doctor’s orders.
@@Bluesbabesrv I am so sorry to hear this!
"Matchbox", "Rack'em Up", "A Quitter Never Wins", and "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl" all have something well worth hearing. Glad you finally found him. Great pick/ vid.
Johnny Lang "Red Light" should be next on your list.
Love Johnny Lange, first heard and seen him in The Blues Brothers 2000 movie and soundtrack...his vocals and guitar playing style is a joy to listen to. Another great blues guitarist you guys have yet to discover is Canadian Colin James check out Just Came Back (To Say Goodbye) or Why'd You Lie.....👍👍
🙏❤️😎🇨🇦
Thank you for playing this song. I forgot how much I love his music.
I have so many great songs and groups you have probably never heard. I am 73 years old and have seen over 110 different groups and performers. I have requested a couple of songs but you never listen to them. I will ask once again. 3 great songs you should listen to. 1. Boz Scaggs “Loan me a Dime”. 2. Wilson Pickett “Hey Jude”. 3 The Chamber Brothers “Can’t Turn You Loose”. Will wait to hear them!
Never heard this artist before. Loved it! Thanks for the reaction :)
I'm so glad you guys found Jonny Lang! I remember when he first came on the scene. His voice was so soulful and mature for his age. It seems like he dropped off the scene almost as fast as he appeared. Honestly, I have no idea if he has any new material. Great hearing him again.
Please listen to "Waiting for a Star to Fall" from BOY MEETS GIRL.
Another good Johnny Lang tune is "Still Rainin'"! Him and Kenny Wayne Shepard were both KIDS that hit the market close to the same time!
I was fortunate enough to see him in Hawaii at a brew pub in Kona. what an amazing talent...and he was only 16 when this came out!
Had the pleasure to see Johnny in his teens when he was touring for this and the next record, Wander this World. You just don't expect that voice to come out of that young man & then that guitar playing! Wander this World I can recommend "Still Rainin'" (upbeat blues rock), "Breakin' Me" (slower blues), but the whole reord is really good. When i saw him the first time Beth Hart was opening for him and they were both simply amazing.
My husband and I went into a club in Minnesota back in the 90s and nobody was on this small stage playing at that time then this little kid came up and was messing with the equipment and we thought oh one of the players sons is checking out the equipment for dad.... soon guys came on the drums then base and this kid started playing and when he stepped up to the mike and opened his mouth every hair on my body stood up. I was hooked. I have the 1st article written about him. I have clipped every one sense then and all of music even who he has played with and have seen him 3 times he is Amazing and I am glad that you have been introduced to his music.....enjoy you will not be disappointed.
Such an amazing singer so sad he lost his voice 🥺

I saw Johnny Lang live when he was 16, if I hadn’t see him with my own eyes I’d have never believed he was so young!
SRV feels i right on track especially with this song and alot of other songs from johnny Lang !!! Great feels :)
He’s from Fargo nd area. Big time famous here. I’ve always loved his music, thanks for the review. Take care u 2!!!
Jonny Lang! Absolutely one of my favorite artists. THANKS Jordan and Amber! You two are the only reactors i will ever watch......
His 2003 Long Time Coming album was my introduction to him. It is an excellent album. Red Light, Touch, Goodbye Letter and Dying to Live are my favorites.
Yeah I remember when he first started out I was blown away by this kid! I am 57 now and he is currently 42. How time flies!!!!!
Hit the ground running- Johnny Lang. BTW he's 16 years old at that time! Lol awesome.
He was 16 when this was released! SIXTEEN!!! Amazing talent!
Oh man. Johnny Lang at 16. Such memories. I saw him live once. It was incredible.
Johnny Lang - Still Rainin’.
Kenny Wayne Shepherd - Deja Voodoo!!
Johnny Lang came to fame in the late 90’s with this bluesy number.
Brings to mind artists like Fabulous Thunderbirds, Kenny Wayne Shepard, Delbert McClinton, and Stevie Ray Vaughn.
My favorite of his “It’s Still Rainin.” Never got enough air play to be so talented!
Been waiting for you to discover Jonny Lang. he was 15 or 16 when this video was made. Has a lot of great songs. One thats funky/ bluesy is “other side of the fence”
While not a big artist on top 40 radio, he has a nice catalog of great tunes. Songs like Walking Away, A Quitter Never Wins, Still Rainin', Darker Side, When I Come to you, Breakin' Me, The Levee, Cherry Red Wine, and my personal favorite, I Am. To call this song a "BOP" would be an understatement.
Still raining, walking away, and wander this world are all very good songs by Johnny Lang
It is sad that now his health issues have left him with the inability to sing. I hope he regains his amazing vocals! His sister is the blonde singing on the couch with him. Check out "back for a taste of your love" and "leaving to stay".
You gotta hear Link Wray...he's mad crazy on the guitar with his 1958 "Rumble".
That's my boy! He was only a teenager when he did this song. Love Love him...
I first heard Johnny back in the mid-90s at a Blues Festival. I think he was maybe 14 at the time. Amazing talent. I think he's only about 16 or 17 here. He's about 40 years old now.
You have a good memory. He's 16 years-old in this video. Signed at 15. And he's now 42 years-old.😊🙏
Breakin' Me and Still Rainin' are a couple of good ones. He's got a lot to choose from, really worth looking into
