1st and 2nd gen priuses have the problem. Ugh (I'm a 2012 prius owner). It seems like owners are reporting it happens after 200-250k, but there is maintenance you can do to prevent it. I read somewhere recently that it may be due to the stop and go of the engine, and owners who drive longer distances at one time are less likely to have a failure. No idea if that's true or not. But it makes sense since the engine turns off and on on its own. Luckily I drive 1.5 hours a day 4x a week for work. I am learning to be my own mechanic so please give me grace if I have some info wrong
@@roxanne-91 1st and 2nd gen almost never have that problem, it's the 3rd gen that does. If your 2012 hasn't already, it's probably going to. The upside is that stop leak additives like K-Seal seem to work well.
Hi Concept, the problem with the prius is the EGR. You have on te right hand side if your standing in front of the vehicule the EGR valve located with a pipe that goes to the inlet manifold, just clean eveything out. Valves, inlet manifold, egr + pipe. Thats the problem that causes misfires. How do i know this, i've searched very long to find thisproblem myself. But i figured it out 🫶🏼🔥 It will work ✌🏼
obvious or not it would be nice to know what was done with the cars to fix them or the diagnosis. Either mention it at the end of the video or before the cars are put back outside. Also sometimes its tough to see exactly what the cameraman is pointing at, draw a little circle or put an arrow on the bad part(s). Lookin forward to the next one!
how come the car lift clicks so much when lifting a car in the air? Is it a safety bolt that clicks into position in case of a fail or something else? If i heard that while lifting a car i'd think it wouldn't stay up there... Great series so far though, loving the content!
The fluid just reacts to exhaust gas changing its color. In this case the test kit is one you put on top of the coolant reservoir to see if there is a blown head gasket by checking if there’s any exhaust in da coolant
Bluetooth ones?! lol Some people need to be banned from working on their own vehicle. Trim some weight off of the vehicle - don't install all the parts.
Crazy how little by little in these videos you can see the progress on the rx-7 😮💨

Rip to the Lexus CT, those Prius motors were notorious for blowing the head gasket during that generation

Ok - i live in a state that requires yearly safety inspections (VA) - does CA require them?
the squeaky car; what if it was a dog toy snuck into the back by an angry ex? lol
Shenanigans aside, Idk why but I'm curious about the little old vw in the corner. It a customer car or someone at the shop's?

correct, its just a failsafe heavy bolt that stops the entire car dropping all the way if the lift for some reason fails
I reaaly think that some lavaliere mics would do wonders!
9:03 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂YOU WRONG FOR THAT EDIT 😂😂😂😂😂
🤣
Why's the GR there again?
Damn at least buy the car dinner first!
what does that fluid at 19:06 measure?
The bottle says "Combustion Leak Test Fluid" at 18:16. Probably relating to the other comments with the ruined head gasket.

Had more than enough of the squeaking in my ear 8 minutes in, I can turn down the sound on impacts and almost everything else but that was the worst.

Exhaust gas leaking into the cooling system, usually indicates head gasket failure
