I’m watching from Australia. Your autumn colours are beautiful and I’ve not seen anywhere in Australia that is similar. I love our bush and rainforests however those colours are glorious. Thankyou. I’m really enjoying your travel and style, yes you guys have style, awesome style. Blows my mind that you’re surfing in a lake on another episode. In Australia as you know we are all about the coast. Thanks for showing me more of life and the world around. 🦘🐨🦘🐨🦘🐨☀️
I'm really enjoying your videos. As a proud new owner of a Grand Banks trawler (sorry not sail) I have been suffering from dissonance and questioning why I'm doing it! Your videos inspire me and I can't wait to get out onto the water and experience life as you are. Thank you.
you guys are so cool, I'm chilling out in the UK watching your amazing drone footage of the USA loving your journey and your channel, all the best guys
My name, Angel but without wings to fly, for the friends, Tito. Spanish was born in a very special island in the middle of the Atlantic just at the shadow of a big volcan. There blows every year a special wind, the alisios, the real sailing way to rise the Caribean sea, the Gulf of Mexico. The route taken by Colon for arriving to the New World. Later on y was living at Cadiz the oldest town founded by fenicians to trade with the tartessos, probably the same people of the mytical Atlantida. I´m 85 years old and thanks to your beatiful videos of your incredible adventure, it is possible to me resist the confinement al home because the pandemia of coronavirus. Thanks. At my twelve years old, just loosed my right eye because of a terrorist attempt, I start rowing in a small boat by the Cadiz bay; at 14 years I start sailing in a typical latin sail wood boat of about 4,5m length, all with one friend, doctor in medicin, already retired, and my dog. Later on I improved a bit more my sailing experience with a spanish catamaran withot keel, without rudder, only sail to manouvre. Later on I start with a small yatch of 9 meters also with spinnaker, and at the end in a 35 fts yatch able to participate in the bay´s regatas. This one was delivered in Barcelona, new on, and sailed by me , mainly during the nights guards, up to Cadiz. Also the dolphins were with us. My permanent dream was to cross the Atlantic but love make it to me impossible, because the dutys of beeing father of four of family. Your reports makes me revive my dream. first at all my congratulations, I´m mechanical doctor ingenieer, because your, the both, skill to solve all troubles of any kind. I´m enjoying to see you, the both. What´s the maximum speed you obtain sailing and in which sea and wind conditions. Thanks, thanks again. Tito
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. It has been years since I traveled down the Miss to the Ohio and up into Kentucky Lake. A beautiful trip and getting to travel with you two was a treat. Thank you.
Wow another beautiful video!! I was just thinking if the Mississippi was more recreational vessel friendly we wouldn’t ever see the colors, calmness and beauty of the Tennessee! Love that ending you guys had the place to yourselves. There are many sailing channels offering very similar coral reefs, beaches, islands etc. but you two have shown a side of sailing very unique, personal and of course the beauty that is America. Thank you
"Au contraire. It is so cool." You guys are hilarious :) Only just tripped over your channel and binge watching to catch up. Have similar plans and looking for my own boat, to circumnavigate. Oh and I never expected to see/hear coyotes in a sailing video. That's a first! You guys are excellent communicatiors. Love the understated style. Eye for aesthetics. Good production and editing. Extremely watchable. Thanks guys :) Oh and if you're ever near Bushmills, I'll treat you to excellent local Guinness and Bushmills chasers ;)
How cool! We went to look at boats at Lighthouse Marina there in Kentucky last year. Enjoying seeing all the familiar sites around Missouri and Kentucky. We live by the Mississippi River around cape Girardeau, Mo. Love your channel
Very watchable series, started the journey right from the start. Thanks so much for doing this, I am looking forward to the rest of journey every episode.
Hands down the best sailing footage on youtube......the river with the steam evaporating into the air.........EPIC! Please keep doing cool stuff, and go where most people don't!
Seriously, great story here. Your gaining years of real life experience on your adventure. River travel is the most intense I’ve seen you need to plan for those shoals, dams and rapids.
I follow lots of sailing channels but you consistently stay my favourite because of your honesty and charm. wishing you good motoring... from the cold UK.
That is the best shot of your sailboat without a mast. It looks kind of lonely. I got that creepy feeling watching this a couple of times as well. Glad you said there was beauty to see as well.
I love this beautiful quiet adventure you are taking through the heartland from the perspective of a small yacht to become an ocean-going sailboat. Love it. Love the quiet, drama-free voyage you have, and simple, uncomplicated lives, and love, you share. Good to see young people living their dream.
Wow , first time I've seen your channel. Nice editing. Locks can be tricky, did them a lot on the canal system in England, you did well. I subscribed , going back to the beginning now :)
I live in Louisville Ky one mile from the Ohio river. I've always thought it would be so cool to sail down the Ohio to Mississippi and on to Gulf of Mexico. Thank you for sharing your adventure with me.
Lighthouse Landing is my Marina, I love it, after 10 years of complaining to others about securing their halyard, I just gave up. Then you get used to it and now it puts me sound asleep, It stops after dark anyway. Night wind is very rare at KY lake, well at least outside of the boat.
Hah, one halyard slapping is beyond annoying, but the symphony of them all banging around together had a nice wind chime effect that was quite pleasant.
Such an appealing couple. I love your videos, and your editing skills. The entire drone sequence at the end is spectacular, especially that shot starting at 17:44 with the reflected clouds moving through the mist on the water. Brilliant!
True! We did go to school for video production. We'd love to upgrade our gear to take our quality to the next level. We're waiting on the a7siii from Sony and can start shooting everything in 4k.
Well it's one thing to have studied the theory or to possess and know how to operate the required equipment, but it's another thing entirely to have the artistic skills and vision (and attractive subjects!) in order to produce videos as appealing as yours. We all look forward to seeing what guys do next.
We came across the Erie Canal (westbound)....almost all of the 34 locks are up and not down; lock 34 had a runaway valve and smashed us against the lock wall; it was impossible to keep the boat off the wall. Love the channel...can’t wait to see you in warmer climates. 👍
You guys are doing the trip I plan to take in a couple years on my 22' pontoon. I though will be starting in Minneapolis. Patienty waiting for your next video. Stay safe and enjoy.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to shoot these vlogs. I am relatively new but am growing addicted. Your choice of the river cruise is intriguing. It is a new experience for me.
Thanks for the video guys, I can’t wait until I get to be like you and sail into the sunset. Until then thanks for letting me follow along with you. I’m sure you can’t wait for warm tropic weather,,,, soon enough it shall be. Cheers!
I live on the Tennessee - Florence, AL. The local locke masters are usually really mindfull of the vessels and their size, but sometimes it's definitely nerve racking. Great Job.
I thoroughly enjoyed this particular segment. Over the years, I've kayaked, canoed, sailed and boated over most of the water that you showcased. The river currents can be quite daunting at times -- sometimes you feel like you're sliding over ball bearings with the boat moving around so much. Looking forward to the next video.
Ok you guys are really growing into one of my favorite channels. You are so calm and fun. Zero negativity, beautiful camera work and footage. So cute too, like a great fit for each other. On your fuel consumption rates, since you just started going against the current, you know that is going to fall way off. (As I'm sure you well know by now). Can't wait till your next vlogs. Peace
Somehow you two make motoring a sailboat down a river in freezing temperatures interesting, I can't wait to see what your videos will be like when your sailing in the Carribean ? Keep up the good work!
Ohh.. Laurie made me laugh, she was wearing her glasses over her hat, at 14.17 I'm following you from the very beginning, if it's in your plans, hope to meet you one day at the beautiful Aegean coasts..Greetings from Turkey, take care guys..
I so look forward to your videos! One of my favorite channels and ditto what others have said. It is very interesting seeing an area so rarely covered by sailing channels. The beauty of the colors and the serenity of having it to your selves seems to make your journey seem surreal . Keep it up.
Beautifully done video, your drone work gave me a nice perspective of when I would visit my parents at Kentucky Lake Marina. They had a 42 foot Hatteras for 20 year's.
Great video, I was sitting at my desk working this morning and all the sudden realized it was Thursday, time to check for a Soulianis video, and I wasn't disappointed!
Back in the mid 90's I drew the steel shop fab dwgs for the tainter valves for Olmstead Lock & Dam 52 & 53. The tainter valves let water in and out of the lock chambers and are located in 15' x 18' culverts deep within the concrete monolith. Thanks for showing the lock in operation, I've only seen it on paper. It's nice getting a Huck Finn view of the river system. Great job.
Living near the Ohio river and doing something I always thought about, all I can say. Your a lucky man, your living the dream. I would be divorced in a New York second, no mall. The scenery is awesome thank you for sharing
So I have been following your channel for a little while now and I am actually a towboat Captian and have run the rivers for about 10 years now if I would have been able to keep up enough to know when you were transiting the rivers i would have give you my contact info to answer any questions you may of had .. glad you made it safely.. if you do have any questions feel free to comment back
I live on Kentucky, right at pebble island marina in new johnsonville... I use to keep a boat there myself.. if you ever make the trip again please comment and I'll be happy to help you make your way down the river... there are better and cheaper places to stay along the river.. I'm very jealous by the way..
Love Dirty Heads playing in the background while working on the water line! Great video as usual. So awesome to see these rivers from your perspective and your journey down to the Gulf.
Another great production video what a beautiful lake it was so, listening to the wolves howling at night quite lovely used to have that same sound in North Carolina and the mountains Asheville you're getting the job done on a great journey keep up the great work and be safe y'all
Love the great camera work and editing, esp. love the drone footage on the mist rising Tenn. river. like the info about the areas through which you pass too. Great boat travel video!
First time commenting. Great video. The drone shots with the mist at the end were some of the most beautiful I have ever seen! Love seening someone do the interior river systems.
Your comment about "wind chime going here" struck home. Why oh why wouldn't you secure the halyard for some quiet. The crazy part was when driving my car, visited a rest stop, listened to the "wind chime" from their state and US flags and was immediately transported to my boat. Hum. You do a great job editing and narrating. Thank you.
Your editing is always very good, but those drone shots toward the end were so well shot and edited. I fly and i know that is not easy. Drone cameras often dont cooperate. Really....i watch a lot of sailing channels and that was some of the best i have seen. Nice work.
Two vocabulary. 1) Frap a halyard to prevent noise. 2) .The plumbing fitting was a barb rather than a nipple. Love the videos. And hope my advice is correct.
Getting close to time for you to sit down and do a video answering a bunch of the questions that come in on the comments? Quick and easy to produce with minimal editing. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to see it!
The last two episodes have given me some heart tugs. I used to live around St. Louis (sorry you couldn't stop) and worked at every coal fired power plant you passed from Peoria to Paducah. Yea!! Amren!!. I do miss the area and love seeing it. I still want to live on a boat in the Caribbean and looking forward to your journey.
I can't wait for the next vids from Knoxville to Mobile. In the early 90's I ran a 65' sternwheeler dinner cruise boat out of Florence, AL. Then moved up to the tow boats Brittany Anne and the Marsha L locally between Yellow Creek and Huntsville mostly pushing a pair of 250' construction barges. (The pay was really low but I needed the time to upgrade my License to 100 GT). In 1994 I was hired to run a 48' yacht from Melbourne, Fl via Key West to Knoxville, TN. It took 16 days underway. You'll be going through the Wilson Lock at Florence (at 100' the largest single lift lock in the US). When going down and the doors open it's like the Wizard Of Oz. The Tom Bigbee is one lock after another.... Have a safe trip!!! Captain Ron....
@@sc1212able I was unaware of a canal system being there. That will make things so much easier when I get around to eventually making my boat. Only water connection I had been able to find was via the great lakes and required going under a 12 foot bridge.
@@MinorLG I haven't commuted the whole trip, but 3 years ago we sail a West Wright Potter 19 from Nashville down to Pensacola, Florida, being a smaller boat we were able to drop our mast when we didn't have bridge clearance, with two people you could raise or lower the mast in 5 minutes we were able to sail quite a bit of it , really saved on fuel, our route took us east from Nashville in a north west direction on the Cumberland River, then we picked up the Tennessee River near Grand Rivers, Tennessee , from there it was due south to the Tombigbee River that took us to Mobile, Alabama and then we picked up the ICW and headed due east to Pensacola where we put the boat on a trailer and headed to Key West, it was a wonderful trip, one I would like to do again, but maybe in a larger boat with more horse power and a bigger cabin.....
Something to be said about our beautiful "flyover states". Given the choice, I'd take a "flyover" in a moments notice. Once again, you guys captured it perfectly.
When you turned off the Mississippi, I couldn't figure out where the heck you guys were heading, so I had to do a bit of research. Until now, I was never even aware of the existence of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. I've never had much reason to think about it, but if asked I suppose that I would have said that the Mississippi was the only route to the Gulf from way up north. I'm a slightly smarter person today...thanks!
My home waters!! I live in Murray, KY, and have been sailing KY Lake for the last few years... My little yacht (a Venture 25) is currently in Irvin Cobb marina up Blood River off of KY Lake. You went right past the mouth of it during this episode on your way between Smith Bay and Paris Landing. Thinking of Lighthouse Landing as a possible second home at some point. Been working my way through your episodes (OK, kind of binging ;), Fun to see you heading through my home waters on this one!!
Great video guys! Loved the coyotes, I hear them a lot here in Upstate of S.C. I've reach over for my phone to try to record them but never have been able to get them so I'm very impressed that you recorded them. I worked on a tug for 2 years on the Delaware River and upper Chesapeake but they weren't as big as what y'all been dealing with. Fair seas guys 👍❤⛵
I loved the drone shots in the last video (or maybe the one before that) when you were anchored; it gives great context to the area and another view. I wish it was standard to note the date of the videos and not just the date published that UA-cam sticks on it.
The last couple of video’s have had some remarkable colors, and remarkable natural beauty from a river and surrounding areas. As with most of your audience, I would concur, frequency. Love the video’s, know your busy, but keep them coming. I only hope you don’t loose the drive to keep hammering out the footage. Did I miss the episode as to where this is all going?
READ THIS BEFORE YOU WATCH!! Make sure the video you're watching is 17:37 long. (If it's 19+ minutes, there will be audio issues about four minutes in -- and we don't want that!) If you're seeing a 19+ minute video, try reloading in a private browser window, or even try a different browser application. Apologies for the issues!
I had to switch to 720p (from 1080p) to get the 17:37 version.
Amusingly, even the 1080 version is showing 17:37 but falls out of sync with the audio by having about two minutes of really turbulent video footage while discussions of the lock happen, then the lock footage pops in while the audio discusses fuel consumption and plumbing. The real key here seems to that the 720 version is synced properly, and the 1080 version has the extra footage. Don't need to be in private mode, just switch resolutions.
I’m watching from Australia. I have a spinal injury and can never travel how I would like if at all and though I am envious am forever grateful for your episodes as I am seeing places I have only read about. Your autumn colours are beautiful and I’ve not seen anywhere in Australia that is similar. I love our bush and rainforests however those colours are glorious. Thankyou. I'm really enjoying your videos. As a proud new owner of a Grand Banks trawler (sorry not sail) I have been suffering from dissonance and questioning why I'm doing it! Your videos inspire me and I can't wait to get out onto the water and experience life as you are. Thank you.
Awesome, Ian, glad we can provide some fuel to your fire.
Just noticed you posted this on my b-day! Thanx! Capt. J
Love the drone shots with clouds reflecting of the glassy water, 16:04 16:46 . Well done, thanks.
Thanks!
you guys are so cool, I'm chilling out in the UK watching your amazing drone footage of the USA loving your journey and your channel, all the best guys

Does Soulianis have a meaning?? Your videos are so beautiful and relaxing. Really therapeutic and peaceful. Thank you so much.
Cheers from a retired Dutch yacht owner living in Croatia. Your videos are absolutely magnificent, entertaining ánd informative. Sail on sailors.

So inspirational, not just the boat adventures and what's what's to come, but you both as an endless pair together🌎 Fair currents from Oregon 🙏
Thank you Jake! What a nice compliment.
My favorite sailing show get it. Good on ya.
Such an appealing couple. I love your videos, and your editing skills. The entire drone sequence at the end is spectacular, especially that shot starting at 17:44 with the reflected clouds moving through the mist on the water. Brilliant!

Watch this video again great job when you’re at Kentucky Dam Marina you are just a few miles from our home

I find it very kool to see this part of the country on a sailboat....A lot of things learned that’s for sure....sale safe........T.Gunz.........
Thank you.
Funny how particular sounds and scents can do that. Glad you like the videos (:
Nice video, looks like you are getting to enjoy the ride more. cheers
Great to see a whole new area most of the sailing videos on UA-cam are on the ocean. Nice job!
Absolutely beautiful video photography. I didn't know that a sailboat could look so good on the water without a sail.
Cheers, Robert!
Awesome Video. Great being part of your travels on the river. Be safe!
Your editing is always very good, but those drone shots toward the end were so well shot and edited. I fly and i know that is not easy. Drone cameras often dont cooperate. Really....i watch a lot of sailing channels and that was some of the best i have seen. Nice work.
Thanks Steve 🙏

@@BigDumpliing WDE to you Evan
I'm confused. The Tennessee doesn't go farther south than me, and doesn't go to Mobile.
@@MinorLG its called the Tennessee Tom Bigbee River dumps out into Mobile Bsy
@@sc1212able good to know.
Love your videos guys! props to whoever is doing the editing. very good stuff!
That’s all Lauren. 😁
The drone footage at the end of the vid was amazing. Excellent work!!
It’s funny it wasn’t until after we bought the boat, and decided we were going to take the “Mississippi” route that we realized this either. 😆
The Tenn Tom is a convenience. The Lower Mississippi is very unpredictable.
Your videos are fantastic. They just keep getting better. Thank you. 👍
I loved all the shots in the fog at the end! 😍
Nice job guys... great story and visuals.
nice pics very hard to do while moving a boat. nice boat work exiting the marina.
Amazing footage 17:42 - 18:43! You are becoming real professional videographers! Song fits nicely as well....
Awsome job on the video. The way yall capture the color of the leaves and the radio chat was way cool!
20 dislikes? First time watching them, longtime watching others and this is a high class production.
There always haters. Lol. Welcome!
I loved the drone shots in the last video (or maybe the one before that) when you were anchored; it gives great context to the area and another view. I wish it was standard to note the date of the videos and not just the date published that UA-cam sticks on it.
Beautiful people, scenery and video. Thank you.
Thanks guys! I love your videos! Allows me to be a part of something I've wanted to do but never could.
Another great video. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful and interesting as usual - thank you both
Good job on video
I look forward to them
Thanks for sharing
