James, it didn't look like a real bakery in the video though, looked like a supermarket bread counter or one of the fast chain bread counters. A real bakery is a small institution where you often (if not attached to a supermarket) go into an extra store. Then in the counter in front there are sweet and savory pastries and behind the counter there are breads and rolls. And one is served by a saleswoman or salesman, sometimes also the baker himself and does not take independently the baked goods from the counter, shelf or basket. Likewise, the bread is cut for one when asked. Likewise, many bakeries sometimes have a café attached to it, where you can also have breakfast, for example. That is, if that does not come in one of your next videos, you must go absolutely also with the next Germany attendance into a genuine bakery. The same goes for a brewery, if you haven't been to one yet on this trip.

@@karmapema5513 Common... Bavaria is not the heaven of beer in Germany. I believe (after trying so many), even if Bavaria is making some damn good beers...the best beers are made in Saxony. At least if you like Pils or Bock. Ok, Weizen goes to Bavaria. 🍻

Don´t drink beer from a plastic cup. Always from an half liter glass, from a "Krug" or right from the bottle, like we in bavaria do! Love your shows and your descriptions.Well done!
I live in Hamburg/Germany and it is always cute, when tourists ask me, how to use the "Pfandflaschenautomat". Because not every bottle is a "Pfandflasche". I think for Non-Germans the system is very complicated. Sometimes for Germans it's complicated 😶 But I'm always happy when I see, that thay get the "Pfandbon" (what mee s they get money (on paper) back) and how excited they are about it. Really cute 💜
Glad you feel comfortable here. Have another wonderful time with many discoveries and adventures ... PS: Please do not open the beer with your teeth, if you do not want to get to know German doctors as well 😉
It's good as a starter beer. I really enjoyed it on my first parties when I turned 16. :) But yeah... the more you discover, the less likely you gonna stay with Kölsch.
I liked the choice of beers. Obviously there are dozens of more brands you can taste, but this was a nice overview of popular beers from all over the country and not only one specific region.
Of course Helles getting more popular in whole Germany but it was only beer from cologne and Bavaria and Radler from Hamburg. He totally skipped Pils which is like the most sold beer in Germany. I think the selection was actually pretty bad
You are a curious, friendly and thankful person. It's amazing to watch your videos! One thing: don't judge too much about German beer, because it can start an internal war! 😜 For me, I prefer the Nordic ones: Jever, Astra Urtyp, Flensburger.

Real masters open them up just using their minds... Or you train your dog to bring it to you and open it up for you. It has to be a German dog though...
Haha, your favorite one named "Alster" is actually not a beer but a beer mix. It's half beer and half lemonade. While in the northern part of Germany its often called "Alster" or "Alsterwasser" the more general known name is "Radler" and you can get it easily everywhere in Germany. It's either bottled directly by different breweries with their beer or if you ask for it in a restaurant, they mix it for you by using their local beer and lemonade. Its usually really refreshing and drunk often during a hot day as it doesn't contain that much alcohol. Besides this, what are your thoughts about your now firsthand personal experiences in Germany? Already thinking about applying to a PCS here for the time after your actual stay in south korea?
@@kyraiswatching6707 Aah, ok - didn't know this, so thanks for clarification. Just recently I ordered a Radler in a restaurant in northern Germany and when they brought it, they asked who ordered a Alster. So everyone pointed at me. Never heard of it before. It tasted like lemon, so I just assumed it's a term used in northern Germany. Besides that I just knew the river Alster which goes up to Hamburg...my fault. 👍🏻
@@kyraiswatching6707 Whenever I had an Alster, it was Sprite mixed with some Pilsener beer. Above the Weißwurstäquator it is Alster and below Radler ;)
@@alsob9734 I was born in NRW and I lived in Munich quiet some time. So no, it has nothing to do with your Weißwurstäquator. It is a definition. Just because people get it wrong doesn't mean that it is right to call a Radler an Alster in the south or north. You wouldn't call a Starkbeer a PaleAle would you? Because you KNOW it is not. Same goes for Alster and Radler. Check their definition in german dictionary my dude, because what you said is just plain and simply wrong.
@@kyraiswatching6707 Regarding just the dictionary, I'd say you got it wrong. You can take a look into the Duden. Alsterwasser is a Synonym to Radler, both is used "landschaftlich", regional, one in the north, the other coming from the south. (Österreich even saying der Radler instead of das Radler) Both are a word for a beer mixed with lemonade. I might add: Nobody in their right mind here in Hamburg would serve you an Alster(wasser) with orange soda, it is always lemonade (Zitrone). As the dictionary often has only very short explanations: Wikipedia says (though those infos are not always correct in every detail) that in general they are the same, but some people would distinguish between Alster and Radler, Alster being beer with lemonade and Radler beer with orange soda, and some would distinguish it the other way around. So one could say that there are always some who will understand it differently, but that does not mean that the others are wrong. Cheers!
Pleeeease go for a Schlenkerla (made by Aecht). Im a really curious about your reaction. Its like a smokey bacon beer 😅 Or, if I can suggest my favorite: Störtebeker Hanseporter. Just do it ❤

You have to be aware that all the "Kölsch" Beers you were forced to drink are really very specifically a cultural "Köln" thing. Most Germans think they are way inferior to a regular "Pils" Beer. With "Kölsch" and "Helles" you only drank specific kinds of Beers (even though "Helles" is waaaay better than Kölsch) - most Beers are "Pils". The "Veltins" was one ;)

5:13 Das nächste Mal probierst Du natürlich auch Altbier aus dem guten alten Düsseldorf. ❤❤❤😊
Willkommen im POTT.
U just experienced the most normal experience young adults have in germany every day.
Great video i smiled all the way thru it was like watching myself and the bois.
I'm glad that you have so much fun in Germany
Hi James, I understand that you tried the beer in public, but in a restaurant or a bar and with friends is even better. Now in summer we also drink "Berliner mit Schuss", which is light beer and raspberry (red version) or with woodruff (green version). If you come to germany in autuum or winter it is possible to buy, but not the same feeling. Anyway I am looking forward to your next video.
He's getting german culture by eating and drinking like americans do.. Missed chance.
Bavarians sees it as worst thing, to mix wheat beer with some fruit or herbs juice.
@@robfriedrich2822 That's why it is called "Berliner Weisse". A special beer is used and only breweries in Berlin (Schultheiss for example) are allowed to produce this kind of beer.
Augustiner Hell for the win :) Glad you liked it. Kölsch isnt even in the same league than the bavarian beers imo
You got to be the best prepared tourist in human history, great to see you experiencing Germany first hand!
Hi James. Ich empfehle dir unbedingt Dresden zu besuchen.
I'm super hyped for the rest of the videos. I know the trip is over but I hope he visits a real bakery at some point and tries some real bread. Also trying more different beers.
what a strange collection of beers, those guys did you dirty. i hope you also tried different beer while you were here.
naja Bayreuther kann man schon machen aber der rest ist bischen weird
Absolut. Bis auf das Helle alles echt keine Highlights
Augustiner muss. Wer was anderes sagt hat keine Ahnung.
@@majimasmajimemes1156 digga fuck man jetzt hab ich bock auf Bier
Oder ein schönes Flensburger. 😂 Ich würde zu gerne das Gesicht beim ersten Plopp sehen. 🤣
Your german is very good man! Props! Spezi Zero damn wtf?!
It looks like you have a realy great time in Germany. Nice to see, that you enjoy it.
Rhein River sounds so funny and baby barrel is so cute 🙂
Greatings from Kiel, most northern capital city in Germany.
I don't think you realized how dangerous it is to say that you don't like Kölsch in Köln
😂 But its true. Kölsch is no Beer. Someone out of Bavaria. 😂
@@karmapema5513 It doesn't matter if it's a real Beer, if you life in Köln you will drink kölsch
@@Tn-yl3cm Sure 😅 But if u used to drink it in Bavaria and drink a Kölsch you will miss a good beer. 😉
@@karmapema5513 When you're in Cologne you have to drink / try Kölsch. Even if you don't like it otherwise. You're really missing out, if you don't. You can drink your Bavarian beer, or whatever you prefer, for most of your life, if you so choose.
Can’t argue with you about the Kölner Bier😜😂🙏🏽 should have tried Altbier, just so you’ve tested all important kinds.
So nice seeing you in Germany finally 💪🏽💯🔥
N Weizen hat auch noch gefehlt. Vorallem aber in Süddeutschland bekannt und getrunken. Deswegen vielleicht.
Don´t drink beer from a plastic cup. Always from an half liter glass, from a "Krug" or right from the bottle, like we in bavaria do! Love your shows and your descriptions.Well done!
I love your laugh!!! Have a good time here!
I live in Hamburg/Germany and it is always cute, when tourists ask me, how to use the "Pfandflaschenautomat". Because not every bottle is a "Pfandflasche". I think for Non-Germans the system is very complicated. Sometimes for Germans it's complicated 😶
But I'm always happy when I see, that thay get the "Pfandbon" (what mee s they get money (on paper) back) and how excited they are about it.
Really cute 💜
This is gonna be EPIC❤
Hyped!
Yoo, starting things off in Cologne is great. People around here are generally pretty chill and not very stereotypically (ak.a Bavarian) German.
13.47 Übung macht den Meister!😂 But it really looked funny!
Glad you feel comfortable here. Have another wonderful time with many discoveries and adventures ...
PS: Please do not open the beer with your teeth, if you do not want to get to know German doctors as well 😉
Wer Kronkorken mit den Zähnen öffnet, schubst auch kleine Kinder vom Fahrrad^^
Sorry I love Cologne but thats probably the worst city in Germany to taste beer :D but nice video
100% true
No one outside Cologne drinks Kölsch, I wouldn‘t even call it beer 🤣🤣🤣
@@ThortyS also 100% True 🤣
It's good as a starter beer. I really enjoyed it on my first parties when I turned 16. :)
But yeah... the more you discover, the less likely you gonna stay with Kölsch.
@@ThortyS immer noch besser als bitburger oder jever🤮
I liked the choice of beers. Obviously there are dozens of more brands you can taste, but this was a nice overview of popular beers from all over the country and not only one specific region.
Of course Helles getting more popular in whole Germany but it was only beer from cologne and Bavaria and Radler from Hamburg. He totally skipped Pils which is like the most sold beer in Germany. I think the selection was actually pretty bad
"Frisches Veltins" 😁 my favorite Beer! Nice to see you like it. Also nice to see, that you are blown away by "Quarkbällchen" 😂
You are a curious, friendly and thankful person. It's amazing to watch your videos!
One thing: don't judge too much about German beer, because it can start an internal war! 😜
For me, I prefer the Nordic ones: Jever, Astra Urtyp, Flensburger.
Sehr sehr cooles Video...und die german Autobahn ist die beste...Liebe Grüße aus Deutschland!! 😎😁🤘👍👍👍
In most parts of Germany it is not allowed to call Kölsch as a Bier ... 😂
Hey! That Paulaner Spezi ..i think you actually grabbed a Spezi light sugar free, usually with the silver Part on the paper is light..maybe that explaines the taste, the Paulaner spezi in the can is the best though .
Keep Up the good Work, enjoying your Videos, have a nice time Here in germany
Seeing how that Quarkbällchen hit you in the feels was so great haha
As someone who lived in cologne. This is very heart warming
Ah its so sad that you tried the Paulaner Spezi Zero... the Zero one tastes like liquid ass in my opinion xD
Those Video's makes me happy as a German
so nice to make a tream come true. Hope you enjoy germany very much.
You have to Drink that Spezi Out of the bottle then the taste is different dont ask me why
When he goes back to the USA he will know every possible way to open a beer bottle. You will see. 😁
Real masters open them up just using their minds...
Or you train your dog to bring it to you and open it up for you. It has to be a German dog though...
Lil lifehack. I keep a ring on my thumb that I use to open beer.
Get them to take you to a real specialized bakery and make you taste real good german bread.
You will miss that for the rest of your life . .
Veltins is my favorite beer too! Nice to see you have a lot of fun in germany :)
Hi James,
my recommendation is the Köstritzer Schwarzbier.
Greetings from the Cologne area.
I hope you like germany do more collabarations and more :)
It has nothing to do with northern germany or somewhere else. Alster is beer with orange-lemonade and Radler is beer with lemon-lemonade.
Cheers!
Bro, finally.... ❤
Pleeeease go for a Schlenkerla (made by Aecht). Im a really curious about your reaction. Its like a smokey bacon beer 😅
Or, if I can suggest my favorite: Störtebeker Hanseporter. Just do it ❤
Can you do a little recap and compare all your experiences with america. I really dream of visiting america one day and I wonder if I am romantisizing (if thats a word) it too much. Love your vids. Greetings from bavaria
Wait, you’ll come back soon??!🤯

Cool video, James and nice beer test. You're really getting into German culture.😄🍻
Beer you have to drink from a glass or directly from the bottle. Mühlen Kölsch. One of the best. But I hope you did yourself a favour and drank 1, 2, 3 at the brewery somewhere. Again you are in Urbach at my church. Crazy.
