A lot of what we think of now as 'warrior cultures' spent almost as much time training themselves to sing, dance, compose poetry ect as they did training for war so it makes sense to try and have a channel just as well rounded.
That was cool. Thanks. Reminds me of when I was in ballet. Always act like you did that on purpose and people (most people) will never know it was not what you intended.
When from dancing you are in labyrinth with a child, avoiding spikes and monsters to go to the unicorn room ;-;. I love these videos! Edit: "sorry about the child thing" - died from laughter
A dude I went to school with, he was on his way to become a professional musician and has achieved that goal, told me two things about performing on stage: When you make a mistake, just do the exact thing again and people will think it was intentional. Stage fright vanishes when the first note is played. Once the first note is played, the song goes on and makes you play the rest.
One of the best ways of measuring a fellow human is to witness how they handle failiure, or at least the prospect of failure. Which is one of the many reasons why I love Mythbusters. When everything goes as planned, they often are a bit dissapointed. Because then it meant that no new ground was covered. But if it's a failure (or even just an unexpected result) it signals an opportunity to learn something new, and they, especially Adam, become giddy as a child. Oh. And if you are in a training situation, then revel in the chance of spectacular failure! Because if you didn't fail during training at least once, then you didn't really learn where the limits were, and what you should focus on in your own training in the future. And that's just a waste. Because if you fail in training you are likelier not to fail like that in the real situation and if you do, then at least you don't have the chock of a new situation blinding you in the search of solving the situation.
The Jazz Factory is 10 minutes away from foot from where I live. Lindy pls let us know next time you're in town, you have fans here in Finland too you know :)
So remember, when the shopping cart full of champagne flutes heads off in an unexpected direction, you keep watching it, you act as if it was intentional, and you smile.

Usually, I'm not at all interested in dance, yet I enjoy these videos to a very great extent.
I suppose dancing is like playing RPGs. The things you remember the most fondly are those times you all laughed till you fell off your chair when things went gloriously, spectacularly to hell in a ham sandwich.
As a tabletop RPG player and enthusiastic Linedancer I can attest to this being true. It's fun when things go according to plan / coreografy, but some of my fondest memories are defenetly from when things went gloriously of track.
My piano teacher always told me the same thing, especially if you're improvising. If you strike a wrong note or mess up a chord, keep going. That way you don't give anyone time to pick up on the mistake you made, or if they did, pretend it was deliberate to make things interesting, *of course.*
Lindyhop has that connection to jazz, and while I don't dance, I do play jazz. In jazz, we were always taught there's no wrong notes. Wrong rhythms, yes, but not notes. A note that doesn't fit just seems like extra "color" in the eyes of the audience. Embrace the wrong notes.
Could you do a video called "Lindybeige goes wrong.", where you run around in LARP gear while playing a berserker? Lots of fast cuts to the next arrrrrrrgh wave axe around for about minute session.
Is lindy hop freestyle non-choreographed dancing or is it limited to a range of choices so is scripted in that "inherent" set of possible sequences ? Looking to pick up a dance..
Dear Lindybeige, I appreciate this for the content. I like and appreciate your advice for swing dancing. I do not watch this because I was hoping for swords, nor because it has a woman in it. Sincerely, A viewer
Alas, I have absolutely no rhythm or feel for the music, and the quickest way for me to make my dance partner not have a good time is to actually try and dance. I would happily buy a Lindybeige portable escape hatch (in "old plaster").
Lindyhop [GONE WRONG][GONE SEXUAL][SHOTS FIRED][COPS CALLED]
Don't ruin his channel for five minutes of action.
Ben Dover [ORIGINAL POSTER APPREHENDED]
(in the hood)
Perfect title xD
GONE BLOWJOB
I was told by a choirmaster “A wrong note played with conviction is an interpretation.”
I'm watching this just because it's Lindy.
Everybody is.
At this point, I'm subscribed for the entertainment rather than the history.
It is history, I am quite sure these dance moves actualy happened.
Oh yeah
Yes it is. Lindy hop :) By Nikolas Lloyd. Also, this is true for any kind of social dance. (yes, I do realize the channel is called lindybeige)
That child analogy wasn't a mistake, it was a variation.
Nice UA-cam Name!
A life lesson for sure.
Thank you for this video! Please do more dance videos, I've missed them so much! It is great to see your perspective on the dance.
Try finding another UA-cam channel that talks about: tanks, dancing and his own shirts:D
And is also somehow quite entertaining!
JUST came home from my first ever Lindy Hop workshop..it was a helluvalottafun and I will surely sign up for the classes.
the fineprint on your endcard was hillarious! :D
NEVER READ THE FINE PRINT! [always read the fine print]
I like how she's amused on you acting out the hypotethical situations of confusion and mistakes =D
Wonderful thing - build your channel with militaria then subtly introduce dance!
Make love not War ! :)
That dastardly, sneaky git! He's managed to lull us into a false sense of security with all that talk of axes and tanks and war.
Richard Lincoln hes always done dance.
The channel is named after the dance. Lindy? Derp
A lot of what we think of now as 'warrior cultures' spent almost as much time training themselves to sing, dance, compose poetry ect as they did training for war so it makes sense to try and have a channel just as well rounded.
men get bored sleeping, dancing and loving sooner than war (c)
That was cool. Thanks. Reminds me of when I was in ballet. Always act like you did that on purpose and people (most people) will never know it was not what you intended.
It the same for acting. I mean in theater. You know, plays, like Shakespear and such.
It's also the same in Gamemastering. Players need illusion.
Same in music. A musicians mistake and recovery is everyone else's amazing improvisation.
For the life of me I dont know why I enjoyed this...Lindy could genuinely make paint drying exciting.
Love watching you and Laura in these videos
Keep it up
Best explanation of philosophy via dance ever!
An entire life philosophy in five minutes through the medium of dance. Brilliant. Don't understand the thumbs down.
I cant get enough of LB teaching Swing in videos. Its just golden
For someone who subscribed to this channel because of the explanation of the Stirling Engine, I am really enjoying the Lindy Hop series. Thank you.
It's all fun and dancing...
Until someone throws a pommel.
My boy Lindy is crushing it.
I’ve had my shoe, my glasses, and my hat fall off while dancing with a partner, all on separate occasions. It was always the funniest/best part!
I think its funny that even though I love swing dancing, I found this channel because of a rant on a specific type of role-player.
I first started following this channel for the RPG and Military subjects. I keep watching because of videos like this.
*Lindylaid*
I really love the idea of the Emergency Portable Escape Hatch. it reminds me of a Bugs Bunny
Elmer Fudd episode. :)
I imagined it to be somewhat similar to the portal gun
Who Framed Roger Rabbit comes to mind with their portable holes.
When from dancing you are in labyrinth with a child, avoiding spikes and monsters to go to the unicorn room ;-;. I love these videos! Edit: "sorry about the child thing" - died from laughter
this is the best yt channel i know
This also works great as a life lesson

I have the same mentality when I play drums. As long as I keep time nobody is going to notice if I hit the drum I intended to hit or not.
Lord Baktor except other drummers
Not necessarily. If I don't fuck up the time keeping, I might just be "improvising" on the fly :P
Thanks Lindy! I think you'd be a great dance partner. Fun's what it's all about, after all!
Does it look only to me as beautiul metaphore of life?
a Lindy that feels this right can't possibly be wrong
John Jaeger it could, however, be beige.
For the first 4 minutes substitute "love making " for "dancing" and you you got the right partner for both.
You travel to Helsinki in december? Brave man!
It was a while ago, but I have been to Tampere at New Year.
Possibly the coolest man on the Internet.
I dance at the edge of my ability ... as soon as I stumble onto the dance floor.
Excellent. Doesn't apply only to dancing. Use this lesson for leading your life.

*Looks at gallery
I RECOGNISE THAT BALD PATCH!
The Jazz Factory is 10 minutes away from foot from where I live. Lindy pls let us know next time you're in town, you have fans here in Finland too you know :)

Lindy goes wrong when the guy on the flank breaks rank to chase a fleeing enemy.

4:25 LOL! you funny man!
And in the end, both laughed. And you could see, they had fun~
I enjoyed that immensely
In addition to these tutorials, could you please upload a couple of recordings of you just having fun dancing?
Very wise. Apply this to life and you've really got something.
I suppose a mistake might be more if you trip and fall over. It is harder to play that off as intentional.
From historical to philosophical to dancing tips? Lindy is great
Unicorns have a nasty bite and should be kept away from small children
That horn is venomous you know.
Unicorns would pretty much kill any non virgin who approached them so best to keep your distance for most of us.
Always goes wrong when doing Lindy hop not in Lindybeige's knitted jumper. Wrong.
How does one acquire a 'Lindy Beige escape hatch'? I could really use one about now......
This is the most important thing that has ever happened to me.
OMG he found a comb..... and used it!
If you make a mistake, do it twice. Then it's art.
Beige on the other hand can never go wrong.
Gosh darn Lundy you slick machine
Is this on your dance playlist. I don't think so. You should add it to there if not.
My piano teacher always told me the same thing, especially if you're improvising. If you strike a wrong note or mess up a chord, keep going. That way you don't give anyone time to pick up on the mistake you made, or if they did, pretend it was deliberate to make things interesting, *of course.*
Kittenstomper Jimmy Page did the same thing in his guitar solos.
I'm still curious about what Lindy can't do... if he does a video about cooking I'll give up on life, there is no way I can be this complete as a man.

LOL! Great stuff!
I need to have my jazz students watch this.
I know this does not relate to this video but could you consider doing a video talking about tomahawk lindy? if so thanks :)
Could you do a video called "Lindybeige goes wrong.", where you run around in LARP gear while playing a berserker?
Lots of fast cuts to the next arrrrrrrgh wave axe around for about minute session.
what a stand-up gent

Keeping it beige.
Perkele
Arya Stark vihdoinki torille!
How do you keep traveling to Helsinki to film these and then back to England to edit them?
0:50
so,..... "Swift as a coursing river" ?
maybe? kinda?
Just because your screen name is Lindy-beige, does not mean that you can automatically Lindy-hop.
You are looking rather dapper today good sir.
OH NO I ACCIDENTIALLY HIT CAPS LOCK
In other words: SHIT HAPPENS!
This was fun! :D
Lindy combed his hair wrong.
Darkest shade of black pants I have ever seen
What was that comment at the end about?
Lindybeige / Hydraulic Press Channel collab confirmed
I like your assistant
why are you doing in Finland?
portable escape hatch lmao
Not enough beige
Dance videos??
Lloyd in something other than a beige button up....I don't know of I like it.....change frightens me.
Lindys footwork is pretty nifty tho...deffo a transferable skill to fencing or boxing etc.......💯
is there anything you cant do Loyd
Lindy totally smashed that afterwards
Shes hot ;) and THICCC
Replace dance with "jazz solo" and "dance floor" with "bandstand" and "partners" with "rhythm section and soloist".
THERES NO CRYING IN BASEBALL
Oh my God he kinda looks like Rick from TWD in this video
I wonder if he is lonely
They are just happy little accidents. lol
