I obtained the Steel Badge before Fighting.
Fighting one was tough for my team, stupid double team+ Focus punch combo his primeape had was pretty unexpected

first gym battle gets super hyped, meet this sasuke looking dude at the top of a lookout within his gym. sick VS. graphic appears with some cool-ass music playing, you enter into the battle. he sends out a level 9 pidgey.

Johto is full of flying types: Togepic, Natu, Yanma, Delibird, Mantine, Skarmory, Murkrow, Hoppip... and the flying type gym leader uses a pidgey and its evolution.
If they really wanted to challenge the player they could have gave him a level 13 Skarmory

Heracross is super useful in this game actually.
It has always been. Johto pokemon stats sucks. Those easy to find can be strong but the game made it cheap that way. I hate chikorita it is the weakest at least now hgss have physical water moves that buff totodile but chiko is just weak

Back when Silver and Gold was released, Heracross wasn’t good due to the move set. It’s a lot better now in the remake

@Connor Stevens I mean that would be interesting but they don't evolve until way later on while a Skarmory can be any level so it wouldn't make sense to give him Pidgeot and Dodrio on the first gym
I think it's pretty weird that Falkner, Bugsy and Morty still didn't change or had a better team in the remakes
Falkner could get spearow and hoothoot
Bugsy could get ledian and ariados (replacing the useless cocoons)
And Morty can get Misdreavus
All they did was increase their leveles.

One of the tricks I used for Whitney was making sure that the mons aside my starter were female...I also caught a Geodude to deal with her normal attacks
juan ernesto Rey That's pretty good move (defense wise) but I still prefer Muscle (traded machop) 3 karate chops and BAM done! It also has a ability to boost its exp.
Heracross beats miltank easily
I used geodude aswell. Thank Arceus mine was female
well if ur playing gold sliver or cyristal u should catch a drozee and trade for a machop and the department store and take her on but ether way im still afraid of her and and milktank use rollout like there is no tomorrow
I defeated her with one Brick Break from Heracross and a little help from Weepinbell. It deactivated Miltank's Pecha Berry (I think it was something else that healed poison. Then I TOTALLY lucked out. Weepinbell was a male, and it was in love with Miltank (since it used Attract) . But Weepinbell didn't get infatuated with love. Instead, it used another Poisonpowder. Then I switched to Heracross and ohko'ed it with Brick Break. I was sooo happy.... btw this was in HeartGold.

Dark Dragon I’ve always thought the same thing. Although I suppose it doesn’t matter too much, His average level is still higher. And It’s not like Johto gyms go into the High 50s, like other regions
Dark Dragon you can fight Jasmine as the 7th gym if you beat Chuck and Price first which makes sense level wise
Bugsy's Scyther gave me the business the 1st time battling him. That U-turn move was critical hitting

The right order for the Gym Leader after Morty is Chuck-Jasmine-Pryce not Chuck-Pryce-Jasmine. You'll gonna waste your time there.
When you enter Olivine, go to the lighthouse immediately and when Jasmine asked you to get the medicine to her Amphy in Cianwood, that is your cue to go there. After beating Chuck, get the medicine, and battle Jasmine then you're cleared to face Pryce. Its a one-route situation not some back-and-forth stuff

Or, ya know, you can just talk to Jasmine, then get the medicine, then Surf back to Olivine, give her the SecretPotion, then you can battle her, and you can still battle the other Leaders. Like in Gen 1, when you get to Celadon, get a drink from the Dept. Store’s vending machine, give it to the Saffron guard (in FR/LG, go to the Celadon Mansion and talk to the lady inside, and she’ll give you the tea that you give to the guard) and then go back to Celadon and take care of the Team Rocket mess in the Game Corner, then go to Saffron and raid the Silph Co. building, which Team Rocket is also taking over, then when that’s done, you can fight Sabrina and get the Marsh Badge early. However, you may need to get the Rainbow and Soul Badges in order to use HM03 and HM04.

Well cyndaquil is the fastest (I think) but even then there is a 12.5% of having a cyndaquil be girl so then your gonna be screwed by rollout and attract. Something I will say is to not use cyndaquil against Whitney’s miltank

You gotta grind my man. Go into some caves or grass and just cause some extinction. And be sure to battle any trainers you missed.

Panama Ranger well like most stones there hard to obtain. The common method is pokeathlon but even then it’s certain days you get it. The only other ways are to get calls via pokegear for it or find it somewhere in the game
