Nice tip! There is a cluster of shock magnitude node on the right side of the tree that we can take advantage of with weapon set skill points, boosting the shock to 50%, but will require respeccing ~16 points as we can only travel to it from the top and not through the jewel slots from the bottom 2 paths.
Thank you so much for your guide! When I first started watching you, during my 5th character's life, I followed your guide and went all-in on an armor-focused build. My armor stat was insanely high, around 83-88% with 8500+ armor, but my life was only 1100. In Act 5, the very first Centaur hit me three times, and I died instantly. That’s when I realized that the higher your armor gets, the less effective it becomes in terms of armor percentage. So, it’s better to focus on Resistances and Life, and aim for just 70+ armor early on instead. Now, I’m on my 6th character’s life. In the early stages, I followed your damage skill build, and around the end of Act 2, I started focusing on defense. It made my progression much faster! I prioritized Life and Resistances, and now my life is at 1300+. I feel much safer playing this way. I hope you update your guide soon-I’m looking forward to it! I’d love to see tips that balance survivability and damage, especially for Hardcore mode. For example, I’m still hesitant to use rings like Death Rush >_
One thing to note is to not get a quiver with 100% pierce implicit or pierce suffix. It’ll make it harder for you to apply shock as the arrow will pierce the boss and won’t get the debuff from the follow up shock.
@@fearlessdumb0np! I made that mistake when I bought a random quiver with the implicit on it and couldn’t apply shock haha. Only cost me 1EX, so not too bad.
This works great. I pathed over to Frazzled for weapon swap which has been awesome. I also run Death Rush for map clear - but switch on a +Mana + Mana Regen +Rarity +phys/fire dmg ring for buffed lvl 82+ bosses for mana help and rarity since Death Rush is useless. Was considering swapping in a jewel as well with + shock magnitude but I think that may be a bit extra lol. Thanks for the guide, going smooth - almost 91 and clearing things really well!
Maybe use voltaic mark for another 30% magnitude of the shock, and weapon swap might be able to reach frazzled + it’s req nodes for another 75% increase?
On the point of socketing supports onto wind dancer, if you have spare int support gem capacity you can also socket + gem level supports(as it is a triple elemental skill) on to Sorcery Ward to reduce the recharge delay, though it's only -0.1 seconds per gem level gained.
I've been using a lightning warp based weapon swap for my high uptime shocks on bosses. pretty easily got it to be 50% shock, and I have the ground lasting 14 seconds. but I'm running a galvanic shards/ shockburst rounds setup, so I already had some investment. an added bonus, the ball lightning you need to make it work for bosses can be made to travel a decent bit faster than your move speed, so you can use it as a janky 2 button travel skill while mapping
hey, just a question about the passive tree. why would you ever go the 3 +15% armor nodes to the left of polished iron/blade catcher, when you could use those points to path left past Grenadier and grab 2 +12% armor+evasion nodes and Defiance? is +3% armor more valuable than +12% evasion for some reason im not understanding? thanks!
@@ohhkennny766 As long as the enemy is ignited with radiant grief the shock does not disappear. I stacked shock up to 79%, and with voltaic mark its at 103% (but capped at 100%).

Can u maybe go into more detail what dmg output u have right now? yo, so am i the only one getting obliterated by red hits from bosses that deal physical damage? i feel like the shield that take 50% my evade and armor is needed in a fight with those type of bosses, im on t15 and t16s with +4 bosses and it is not a good time when i get 1taped, because the defensive nodes that i sacrifice damage would be completely necessary.
How would a gemling legionnaire who can use a staff to cast ball lightning work with that build? I find the arrow is nice, but I can maximize the shock window for DPS with ball lightning more. Obviously you can get things to increase the duration of shock, but it doesn't seem to be many. The idea is to shock the enemy and then melt them with stormburst rounds. I tried both, but neither seems to consistently shock bosses or higher tier enemies. There something I'm missing?
Have you considered Catalysis node for some extra defense with Sorcery ward? I've been using it instead of blade catcher and that area nodes. It's not far from Multitasking and you can pick up a jewel socket otw too

I feel like the shock is just never applying, Ill literally just stand there for5-10 seconds and fire arrows and nothing happens. Only for the boss to then jump away and reset shortly afterwards. I got accuracy on my quiver and plenty of flat lightning and am standing within range for my hood to trigger ignite.
can you please go over your crossbow stats and what to look for when buying an upgrade? i'm currently shopping for an endgame xbow for ur build. but i cant decide how important +elemental damage is vs just flat physical dmg (talking in the 100 divine range)
Hi! I've been watching your videos since launch and your guide has helped me tremendously throughout early access so far! I am having significant mana issues while bossing, especially when attempt pinnacle bosses. Once I run out, I'm just waiting slowly for charges to recover. Is there any modifier or method I could use to keep from running out of mana? Would physical damage leech work with grenades?
@@clayrains4510 I spent most of Sunday working on cold->ignite (I was frustrated and started looking at shock which is what led me to the contents of this video). I left an update in the build guide on it, the theorycraft is pretty dead unfortunately. The costs required to invest into ignite consuming cold were huge and for less than half of the damage the current hit based setup has. Ignite is in a rough place right now, it costs an enormous amount to break the ailment threshold on even no additional level map bosses. They also reduced the ignites by 20% a day before launch. Either I’d need to stumble on some other scaling mechanism or they’d need to introduce some numeric changes to ignite to make it work. I’ll keep checking in on it I still really like the idea.

i just keep been oblitarate by boss map 16 and pinacle boss i have 53% armour and 56% evasion more 3800 from sorcery ward i have good dps but the defence size its horrible.

Damage wise the build is great but after playing with it i suffer from 2 main issues cooldown time and all the investment i have in armor feels useless i getone shotted a lot at higher tier maps so whatdo you suggest to bolster defences
The other option is to drop sorc ward and go full evasion / Acrobatics. You could get 80% evade chance but you'd still be suffering from random one-shots. Non-ES / Non-MoM builds are in a rough defensive spot at the moment :/
Do separate passive trees on weapons swap. Spec out of all your grenade and crossbow nodes on weapon swap 2 and spec into attribute and magnify shock (it’s on the right side near ranger section). If you’re still having issues (you really shouldn’t) then get a quiver with +dex on it.
my weapon points is the same atm. can you show in the next video what you respeced out of for the frazzled points plz. For me if i swap to the bow and remove a skill from the tree its also removed for the xbow tree. dont know what im doing wrong here!
ive been using the unique boots that drop shocked ground and shockcaller arrow for enemies i cant get close to on my shockburst rounds build never even thought about stormfire with that helmet i might work this into my build somehow
there’s a support gem called Clarity (im not sure) which gives u 30% mana regen rate, it’s help a lot with the mana cost from poison nade. The passive tree switched from lots of damage nodes to defenses node which help with survivability but it’s take longer to kill bosses as damage reduced. Do you have any plan to improve the damage other than purchase a better crossbow?
I'm using your build, but with the great voltaic, and I can apply shock in a legal way until the question is, is the herold of ashes necessary? Since we already applied the ig to the enemy and we have too many explosions already, wouldn't another buff be better?
The options are pretty bad. The Attrition buff is amazing on bosses (I switch to it for really tanky ones) but otherwise not a lot out there. Overkill damage from Ash is good in content like Breach.

No, you need lightning damage to shock, and moreover almost all sources of lightning damage pale compared to the 800% more chance for shock that stormcaller gives
Why/how? Armour break isn't useful at all for fire damage debuffs, it only affects physical damage. I guess it would improve your Flash grenade damage but that's not really a damage dealer for me it's utility and I'd much prefer a damage support that will boost my explosions.
Hello there, did you test running payload as your 5th or 6th link? Clear speed seems to be faster than just adding on another DMG support like fire infusion or primal armament or elemental focus. Thoughts?
Yea, actually. I just did a short clip of it in a video thats uploading right now. Temporalis + Attack Speed stacking and I can sustain just shy of 30 grenades per second. It's completely bonkers.
What exactly is the 4L setup? I looked at the guide but there is a 3L setup and a 5L setup. If you could please inform me, I would be very happy. Is this how I did it? Scattershot, Immolate, Elemental Focus, Inspiration + Radiant Grief

Why wouldn't this be working as intended? Because of the helmet? Who said it's the only way of keeping a mob perma-ignited? This looks like a legit way of keeping a perma-ignited mob perma-shocked, and clearly intended for a Sorcerer specializing in a combination of Lightning and Fire damage along with some focus on ailments. If a Mercenary can make use of it too with some gear and creativity, I think those are the kinds of things GGG was hoping to see in PoE 2 anyway if the way they talked pre-launch carries any weight.
How are you solving your spirit and attribute needs? I'm finding trying to swap to defensive pieces I'm loosing too much int/dex/spirit etc to keep spirit skills active (and supp gems) or having to balance dex/str to keep gear and skills/spirit buffs also on.
My spirit is just the default 100, I have no additional spirit currently. Stat wise I’m 130/120 or so, I think I have maybe 10 are worth of headroom I balance my gear with the stats I have access to.
Seeing a lot of merc builds popping up around shock with shock rounds etc, have you messed around with it? Some of those folks feel it’s stronger than grenade builds. aer0planeGaming has a vid on it destroying
@@nicks7623 yea its just a bossing build compared to gas nades its significantly slower than merc when u can just blink around everywhere with 35%ms + death rush and press 1 button to kill hordes of mobs in t15-17's
Nothing in the game guide changes, I’m doing shock+ignite still, and it works great. I’m not using Ignite as my main damage dealer though which is what I was expecting pre-launch

Mate i have like 600 dmg at my gas granade in "skills" , i see u ahve arount 1 k but i dont have % elmental damage on my crossbow do you think its cause of this ?
It’s awesome, I actually used a very similar item in PoE1 on all my league starters called Kintsugi. It’s a great item if you can manage the stats, but you’ll want to push evasion a bit and have a decent life pool because armour won’t be saving you from the smaller hits

@@tonykeally1039 It provides a flat damage reduction which is very strong in path of exile since it stacks with other sources of damage reduction. The evasion modifier is global and would apply broadly to your evasion and not to the chest piece itself.

Why did you not go for projectile damage in the passive tree, there is a considerable amount of damage you get in there early on and all grenades are projectiles?
Only the arrows themselves count for the projectile damage from what I read, the aoe from grenades isn’t affected. Please lmk if I was mislead, I’m genuinely not sure if that was true and would like clarification.
I'm running a full damage 6L, I have a mod on one ring that gives 17 mana per enemy killed and it makes a mana potion unnecessary. For bosses I have enough mana regen / mana pool that its not a big deal, though I will alternate flash/gas sometimes if mana gets low. I need to trade one piece of gear for more mana and then I think I'll have enough to perma-sustain gas
Hey fearless, i currently running with no mercy ascendancy point and its really nuts, unfortunately need to drop 1 node and i choose the explode one, but dmg in rares and bosses raised significantl, did you tested it out?
@@Leo-ud9cn ailment threshold is for yourself, it's a defensive draught. mana regen is by far the best choice though, once you get to endgame you will spend a LOT of mana
They are 6-7ex on trade. That’s totally worth it. Make sure you set “currency” to Exalt only, the trade website is notorious for listing Divines incorrectly. Don’t buy in divines
Not dumb at all, I should have explained it. Shock causes the affected person to take increased damage as a % of the shock. So 50% shock would mean they take 50% Inc damage. Because of the way it is applied it ends up being another damage multiplier for the damage we deal on top of everything else.
They need to fix crossbow reload How come with grenades you can roll and shoot, roll and shoot... but with crossbow skills you are fucked cause you need to reload. Clunky as hell
It’s not electrocution, and shock is not easy to have 100% uptime without investing heavily into shock or spamming skills when I’d prefer doing damage.
I think a good way for them to nerf this is to make it so that Stormfire lets every application of ignite extend the shock by the same time as the duration of the ignite and that Radiant Grief only counts as 1 application that just never expires. That way they don't destroy the benefit that Radiant Grief brings and also don't take a away the ability of ignite builds to have free shocks.
You can, but it will hose your mana. If you can solve for mana its very strong but it requires a very large investment in it or you'd be stuck very rarely throwing grenades

I perfectionized this idea and am at almost permanent 100% shock. It's insane.

100% magnitude shock just shocks and disappears it cant be retained and have to reapply shock do you mean like 90% shock or something?

I am having the same issue with low damage for the final content. Maps are easy peezy but any pinnacle bosses seem impossible.

I noticed that too. Sorcery ward nerfs physical defenses for merc so much, but I think that's because armor sucks balls rn

I don't think that's true, %Inc elemental damage with attacks should still be a global modifier

I believe he specs out of the aoe and penetration nodes for the second weapon set to grab frazzled, allows you to get the shock to 50%

Do separate passive trees on weapons swap. Spec out of all your grenade and crossbow nodes on weapon swap 2 and spec into attribute and magnify shock (it’s on the right side near ranger section). If you’re still having issues (you really shouldn’t) then get a quiver with +dex on it.

Why not just use stormfire on voltaic grenade?
Because it doesn’t have an 800% more shock multiplier. I’ve trialed both on bosses and the grenade doesn’t shock reliably without a LOT of investment

ive been using the unique boots that drop shocked ground and shockcaller arrow for enemies i cant get close to on my shockburst rounds build never even thought about stormfire with that helmet i might work this into my build somehow
there’s a support gem called Clarity (im not sure) which gives u 30% mana regen rate, it’s help a lot with the mana cost from poison nade. The passive tree switched from lots of damage nodes to defenses node which help with survivability but it’s take longer to kill bosses as damage reduced. Do you have any plan to improve the damage other than purchase a better crossbow?
I'm using your build, but with the great voltaic, and I can apply shock in a legal way until the question is, is the herold of ashes necessary? Since we already applied the ig to the enemy and we have too many explosions already, wouldn't another buff be better?
The options are pretty bad. The Attrition buff is amazing on bosses (I switch to it for really tanky ones) but otherwise not a lot out there. Overkill damage from Ash is good in content like Breach.

No, you need lightning damage to shock, and moreover almost all sources of lightning damage pale compared to the 800% more chance for shock that stormcaller gives
I once again, ask have you considerd Corrosion for Poison greande, it has helped me out a lot
Why/how? Armour break isn't useful at all for fire damage debuffs, it only affects physical damage. I guess it would improve your Flash grenade damage but that's not really a damage dealer for me it's utility and I'd much prefer a damage support that will boost my explosions.
Hello there, did you test running payload as your 5th or 6th link? Clear speed seems to be faster than just adding on another DMG support like fire infusion or primal armament or elemental focus. Thoughts?

Yea, actually. I just did a short clip of it in a video thats uploading right now.
Temporalis + Attack Speed stacking and I can sustain just shy of 30 grenades per second. It's completely bonkers.

unrelated but you can socket supports into sorcery ward (the bonus from the ascendancy) any ideas for what would be a good link setup?
You can't support it with anything other than +1 levels, which gives almost nothing so I skipped it

Why wouldn't this be working as intended? Because of the helmet? Who said it's the only way of keeping a mob perma-ignited? This looks like a legit way of keeping a perma-ignited mob perma-shocked, and clearly intended for a Sorcerer specializing in a combination of Lightning and Fire damage along with some focus on ailments. If a Mercenary can make use of it too with some gear and creativity, I think those are the kinds of things GGG was hoping to see in PoE 2 anyway if the way they talked pre-launch carries any weight.
How do you get them to shock? I use the same set up and the boss never get shock like the shock icon buff don't appear
How are you solving your spirit and attribute needs? I'm finding trying to swap to defensive pieces I'm loosing too much int/dex/spirit etc to keep spirit skills active (and supp gems) or having to balance dex/str to keep gear and skills/spirit buffs also on.
My spirit is just the default 100, I have no additional spirit currently. Stat wise I’m 130/120 or so, I think I have maybe 10 are worth of headroom I balance my gear with the stats I have access to.
Wait, does ignite expire shock effect on enemies? I'm using a Tri-Elemental bow and I'm constantly doing both elemental ailments on enemies.

Seeing a lot of merc builds popping up around shock with shock rounds etc, have you messed around with it? Some of those folks feel it’s stronger than grenade builds. aer0planeGaming has a vid on it destroying

@@nicks7623 yea its just a bossing build compared to gas nades its significantly slower than merc when u can just blink around everywhere with 35%ms + death rush and press 1 button to kill hordes of mobs in t15-17's

Both are helpful. Flat fire damage is stronger, generally, but it would depend on the rolls / where this is
I'm following the build well. The cooldown for gas grenede is too long So it's often ignored. how can I reduce it?
I have CDR basically everywhere except as a support. You could use the CDR support too if you want, that’s an option
I read the mobalytics about ignite not being the way to go, which way would this be shifted and is the gear going to change much?
Nothing in the game guide changes, I’m doing shock+ignite still, and it works great. I’m not using Ignite as my main damage dealer though which is what I was expecting pre-launch

Mate i have like 600 dmg at my gas granade in "skills" , i see u ahve arount 1 k but i dont have % elmental damage on my crossbow do you think its cause of this ?
you should be looking at the explosive portion of it not the gas portion also you probably dont have as good of a crossbow or levels in gem

It’s awesome, I actually used a very similar item in PoE1 on all my league starters called Kintsugi. It’s a great item if you can manage the stats, but you’ll want to push evasion a bit and have a decent life pool because armour won’t be saving you from the smaller hits

@@tonykeally1039 It provides a flat damage reduction which is very strong in path of exile since it stacks with other sources of damage reduction. The evasion modifier is global and would apply broadly to your evasion and not to the chest piece itself.

Get as much str as you can, you only want the minimum dex

Why did you not go for projectile damage in the passive tree, there is a considerable amount of damage you get in there early on and all grenades are projectiles?
I think because the build is very squishy at endgame so it needs more defenses
Only the arrows themselves count for the projectile damage from what I read, the aoe from grenades isn’t affected. Please lmk if I was mislead, I’m genuinely not sure if that was true and would like clarification.
It has the projectile tag on the skill therefore it counts toward projectile damage

I'm running a full damage 6L, I have a mod on one ring that gives 17 mana per enemy killed and it makes a mana potion unnecessary. For bosses I have enough mana regen / mana pool that its not a big deal, though I will alternate flash/gas sometimes if mana gets low. I need to trade one piece of gear for more mana and then I think I'll have enough to perma-sustain gas

Hey fearless, i currently running with no mercy ascendancy point and its really nuts, unfortunately need to drop 1 node and i choose the explode one, but dmg in rares and bosses raised significantl, did you tested it out?
I was running without sorcery ward for short time, but there are a lot of elemental things in maps, i died a lot without it for death effects of rares

@@Leo-ud9cn ailment threshold is for yourself, it's a defensive draught. mana regen is by far the best choice though, once you get to endgame you will spend a LOT of mana

It went from like 1ex to now people wanting 1 divine so i dunno what to do
They are 6-7ex on trade. That’s totally worth it. Make sure you set “currency” to Exalt only, the trade website is notorious for listing Divines incorrectly. Don’t buy in divines
The boots also work fine and are cheaper

Not dumb at all, I should have explained it. Shock causes the affected person to take increased damage as a % of the shock. So 50% shock would mean they take 50% Inc damage. Because of the way it is applied it ends up being another damage multiplier for the damage we deal on top of everything else.

How come with grenades you can roll and shoot, roll and shoot... but with crossbow skills you are fucked cause you need to reload.

Physical by a lot, we get most of our fire from conversion. +proj is a bait unless you have a MASSIVE investment in mana

It’s not electrocution, and shock is not easy to have 100% uptime without investing heavily into shock or spamming skills when I’d prefer doing damage.

I think a good way for them to nerf this is to make it so that Stormfire lets every application of ignite extend the shock by the same time as the duration of the ignite and that Radiant Grief only counts as 1 application that just never expires.
That way they don't destroy the benefit that Radiant Grief brings and also don't take a away the ability of ignite builds to have free shocks.

You can, but it will hose your mana. If you can solve for mana its very strong but it requires a very large investment in it or you'd be stuck very rarely throwing grenades

Yep, Ranger would work great for this too. Less tanky, more speed/comfort. Damage is probably comparable but you wouldn't get explode.
