Just couldn't get merc off the ground right at launch so I've been a meta slave sparker. Now that I got some currency (and game knowledge) under me, hopefully I can give this a try and get to the point where I don't *have* to buy a HOWA but can get my own. But also, we'll see if any nerfs come down the line in the next week or so.

Been playing this since yesterday and liking it a lot. The DPS against bosses is much better than the build I was running, and I especially love electrocuting mobs with Herald - didn't know that was possible, thanks for that one. You may have single-handedly destroyed the crossbow market for this build! But good stuff regardless. For anyone that can't find a decent affordable crossbow, try dropping the +Projectile Skill lower or eliminating it from your search, it still works great.

I am a stupidly geared WH and I don't do a fraction of what you do on Gemling. I do not want to swap off WH but I did go your MOM build on this path and it worked out for me. Love this content! I suggest you try XBOW stormweaver, Goratha is doing something similar but I'm sure with your knowledge on xbows you could make the double shock work & exposure cook.
after watching dozens of merc buld videos, i can finally say this is the final boss of merc builds and I'm sad i've ascended to a witchhunter :'( , huge letdown

Hi love your guides so far. Just a small tip, if you plan to write a guide maxroll is a much better platform that can show items with sockted runes and a better passive tree (support unique jewels for example). Hope you can reconsider writing on there instead!
It's a deli infused T12 waystone, they're actually amazing. Highly recommend picking those up if you aren't, you can get up to 150% deli on infused maps from the Deli atlas passives. Obviously normal T12s dont drop like that.
I play xbow gemling since day one, and can confirm that this is best build for me. Budget friendly ,play style and room for noob MF stat like me. Thanks bro❤
So.. I've tried this build on a Witch Hunter and this is what I've found: The damage: crazy good. No damange probleme with mapping or bossing. Don't even need decimate strike since the boss dies within 3 seconds. Survivability: Not the best for me with my currecy gear, sitting at 2,6k mana and 580int. Died multiple times while mapping now due to stupid explotions or when I got overwelmed in breach. Since we have sorcery ward, I'd probably suggest investing in a MoM Evasion hybrid instead of a MoM ES.. but I might be wrong, since I have not tested that.

You can get Int or Dex on belt through corruption as well, I was using a 46 STR & 15 Dex Meginords Girdle until I could afford ingenuity. They are sub 10 exalts still
You should look into explosive shot with 100% pierce for witchhunter, I've been running virtually the same setup as yours and explosive shot with scattershot and 100% pierce is 10x better than galvanic
Hi, I made the build variant without howa with pretty much the same setup and I don’t nearly achieve that kind of dps. Takes me so long to kill a simple t15 rare.
I just mix and matched allocation until I got to 300/500. I'd prioritize Int over Dex if you had to pick one, and only enough Str to equip your gear but you shouldn't need much of it on the tree (you get +all attribs from the bottom, should have some on your neck, then get 30% more of those)
Great guide! my damage is insane now. But i still get 1 tapped by random mobs sometimes, i am res capped except chaos, about 1800 hp and my shield fluctuates up to 1700 or so. How can i avoid getting 1 tapped randomly?

I feel like the gear we have is very similar. Some how im only 1,750hp, 869 energy shield, 3,000mana. And only 53,000dps on shockburst. I dont understand where the 20,000 dps difference is.

Changed from Pillar to this build. For mobbing, Storm Wave is better but for bossing Shockburst is safer albeit slightly more button to press. One question, my sheet DPS is lower than your setup even though I have HOWA. Can you please share the details of your Shockburst DPS and Main Hand Lightning Damage?
I don't have it put together anymore, and I check the recordings I made I don't have the Pulse tab open at any point. I can give you the sheet dps info for my more expensive setup if you like but I'm not sure if that's helpful or not.
Budget and time thing, I didn't even bother socketing a chaos res rune in gloves (which I would have) because I wanted to resell the gloves. Chaos res is important but I probably would have spent 40-50ex more on boots/belt/helm if I grabbed 2-3x rolls of Chaos res there too. I think for a budget setup the ~45% chaos res I had if I had socketed the rune is extremely reasonable. Gemling doesn't have any special ability to reduce chaos damage or anything like that.
Hi, got a question, how do you solve getting chainstunned/frozen with such a low HP+ES pool? Sometimes I just run into invuln aura rares, or pop a delirium mirror and the invisible mobs swarm me while they're still invulnerable, and I very quickly die. On the other hand, if I'm not using an antifreeze charm the game just becomes a logout macro reaction test every time I get frozen.

Yes absolutely. The gloves are only 3div, or 4div if you want good rolls. I got all my gear for a song and a dance basically and I showcased mapping and bossing with it. You should be fine with 15-20div.
You don't try to shock with Galv, you offhand a bow with stormcaller arrow, guaranteed shock on everything, and allows you to passive swap some more shock duration and magnitude on tree for qol

I've heard (and seen on other YT videos) that mental toughness does not work properly; the line "Reduced Cost while not on Low Mana" does not work properly - some people have pointed out this is only the case if you are CI, but thought it was worth mentioning.
If i have a crossbow with %physical damage, flat lightning dmg, and attack speed, but doesn't have + lvl of all projectile skills, will it still usable for your build? Why you don't need physical damage of your crossbow, it's bad?
I have a high %physical ~600 ish, no attack speed bombard and it works fine in this build. I would do the build, use your existing cross first before investing. Most likely you will have to roll your own crossbow because most decent ones on the market either way overpriced or they put physical runes in.

Sorry I could have done a better job with that. In the video in the description I spend 4-5minutes explaining why Fresh Clip is the support crossbow wielders should build around and that stats on crossbows are flipped. I got a ton of requests for budget version of the build, so I made this video to show you can get it off the ground for about 9 divines. By unbounded I mean that the support has no static cap. Most supports are a flat 25% more, or 30% more, whereas this one is unbounded. If you lean into it you can generate very large multipliers.
Unbound means that it’s uncapped. Most supports are a static value like 25% or 30%, but the “gate” for Fresh Clip is 1% per bolt in the last 6 seconds which has no concrete cap. If you can process 3000 bolts, you’d get 3000% more damage.
41, when you get shockburst rounds you can swap to that and galvanic shards and start playing around with those 2 as a skill combo. it definitely felt good in later parts of campaign with some shock chance on shards and dps stuff on shockburst
TBH, I don't think you should expect to one-shot pinnacle content with a divine invested in any build. Getting there with 10 divines already runs counter to the GGG design philosophy they've publicly stated we're all just waiting for the half a dozen or so builds that can do that to get clipped by the nerf bat.
Doable in PoE 1, but not in 2 because of lack of build variety and because you get flooded with currency. so items are "expensive" when you get 5 div per hour without doing anything special
Yes, it's still viable. Fire damage was scuffed a bit by lack of scaling options so pushing to the very hardest content (Pinnacle+4) will require mechanical skill. I'm hoping I have some extra time to work on it more soon, we'll see with work and other distractions.

level as gas arrow until you have enough points to fill out the tree. Gas arrow makes the campaign easy you'll fly right through with ignite helmet

Chaos res is still important, I was at 45% I think with this gear if I had socketed a rune in the gloves.

Yes, it’ll be fine. Attack Speed is by far the most important part.

Yes, it's still viable. Fire damage was scuffed a bit by lack of scaling options so pushing to the very hardest content (Pinnacle+4) will require mechanical skill. I'm hoping I have some extra time to work on it more soon, we'll see with work and other distractions.

tried t his with witch hunter, sadly it doesnt deal as much damage, the dex scaling is insane on gremling... guess I have to restart a new account, gonna take a break first cuz Im burnt out, thank you very much for your video :)

So basically HoWA is so strong i can slap any weapon on gemling with 1k int, 500dex and str. And it will fly trough everything in this game.
