The first minute and 23 seconds are from my point of view possibly one of the greatests John Williams‘ compositions ever, maybe the gratest. Sounds like the planet Krypton version of Also sprach Zarathustra, with a more tragical focus.

IMO one of the best composers of our generation who carries influences of Richard Strauss and Gustav Mahler (IMO especially Mahler in terms of tonality, dissonance, texture, etc.) into the modern, media age. Truly a genius. The theme and orchestration through the first 2 minutes are very Strauss (Also sprach Zarathustra).

The measure of the brilliance of a movie soundtrack score is how well you can follow the progress of the film just by listening to the music, without seeing the film itself anywhere but in your mind. The Planet Krypton passes this test perfectly.

The composer Richard Strauss composed a tone poem called "Also Sprach Zarathustra" (Thus Spake Zarathustra) based on the philosophical 'novel' of the same name by Friedrich Nietzsche; the main theme of this is used as the iconic opening music in "2001". In this work Nietzsche proposed the eventual/inevitable arrival of the "übermensch" or "Superman". Strauss tried to capture this musically; Williams echoes the timpany and rising series of chords that comes at the climax of the Strauss piece.

It makes the universe and Life seem that little bit more Gigantic and beautifully wonderful and mysterious if you know what I mean. John Williams is defiantly one of the best musical composer for films of are generation I think. I believe. And the beginning of this score Makes superman and john William seem Like There GODS!! Its So God-Damn Epic. Its one of the many of reason on why I believe humans have souls xD I mean how can we create such fucking brilliance as the like of this. Very similar to Respighi's Pines of Rome. Happy birthday, John Williams!!! Beautiful music!

I still feel this was the best Krypton, because the technology looked indistinguishable from nature, and that should be the sign of the most advanced civilizations.

whenever I think that humankind has hit the skids, I think "well, we still aspire to greatness." Superman isn't cool because he's powerful; he's cool because his first thought (and ours) is: "how can I help others?" Something to ponder.

The beginning sounds like Hans Zimmer's Man of Steel soundtrack. I think Zimmer gave tribute to Williams score, but you have to have a musical ear to catch it! :D

You know why we don't have scores like this in films anymore? Because piece of shit, wannabe artsy fartsy critics have decided that they were too manipulative... I WANT TO BE MANIPULATED INTO FEELING SOMETHING MEMORABLE YA FUCKS! I've never heard anybody in real life say "I loved that score, I was so subtle!" Yeah, so subtle nobody can remember it or gives two shits about it. Bring back memorable movie scores now! Goddamnit.

I love Hans Zimmer, and I love the scores he and Junkie XL put together for the Snyderverse films. But nothing they’ve composed reaches the heights of the first 80 seconds of this piece.

Like the "force theme/luke skywalker theme" ultimately outplay the Star Wars main theme, this upstages the Superman theme in a similar way.
