It is always very fascinating to hear about DACT but it would be equally interesting to learn how the aircraft performs in AG role compared to other airplanes
Not bad actually. Especially when it was in it's prime with the AS30L missile (no longer in service sadly) 2 seater is a plus for strike and CAS missions. And I believe french training is good. Cheers
Great interview. At 22:36 Mathieu's voice gets jumbled up. What was his second adversary? Did he say a Spanish AF Typhoon or was he referring to a 1v1 with a Raptor (as he mentions it to be a 5th gen aircraft)? Did anyone catch that?
I reckon it was a Spanish Typhoon because later @ 23:05 he says "...it was a bit frustrating but that's the way it is, the Typhoon is a new generation aircraft...".🙂
To answer your question, in the late 90s and 2000s the M2000D was considered as a Very good strike aircraft by NATO nations. We did very well in allied exercises. Good range, precise and reliable platform. Capable of very low level strike anywhere anytime any weather. It's weakness came from it's size. Too small to carry as much load as a Tornado, but much faster and much more agile.
I love the mirage 2000D...wonderful to hear from the actual pilot regarding the beautiful aircraft
Very happy to see him again. A nice guy.
Such a good looking aircraft, so clean and sharp and beautifully proportioned in design.
I love these videos with non-British pilots and aircraft! A new perspective. Cheers!
Glad you enjoy it, Victor.
Great interview - Thanks Matthieu and Mike. Love how humble Matthieu is despite his achievements. Great role model
Cheers Mo.

Great video. Wonder how he considers the M2000D compared to the F-15E or the Tornado?
Thanks mate.

He sums up the European approach to flying, you dont get above captain unless indoctrinated. I worked in NATO french were absent.
Interesting that they put promotion limitations on people with our degrees!
He never told us his callsign!
