Great talk, thank you. I constantly flit in inspiration to all sorts of different places. Last night on my Instagram feed I saw a great old picture by a Brazilian photographer which led me, through google, to Lucien Clergue, Wow! His pictures! So I had to find what cameras Clergue used, a Semflex so then I’m on eBay checking out Semflex. Practically all my 35mm cameras have been bought this way. You are a constant inspiration, thanks ever so . . .

Have been into Photography for six decades.
Started with a Kodak Box Camera when I was 10 years old. A Great experience for sure🤗
Have had numerous cameras since then.
SLR´s in different formats; i.e. Haselblad´s 6 by 6 , Mamia´s same format with two eyed objektives with different focal lenghts. But!...
    And- I say BUT-
Since 1972 my first 35mm film camera, a Leica M4 rangefinder camera + a 35mm Summicron M vers 4, I´ve been stuck to that format and brand🤗 Relative compact and when one knows the basic principles of Photography easy to handle ☺️
    Highly recommendable😉
Now a days it has expanded to more cameras and objektives of different focal lenghts, same brand. Has never let me down- and I love it!
    Prefer Black and White film.
It´s expensive- yes- but full mechanics, it needs no batteries, it`s simple to use and- it´s RELIABLE! Not at least..☺️
Kenneth, that´s among the reasons why it gives me inspiration to take photos, to think more, not of the techniques, but of the motives and thereby to shoot less, to be satisfied with the photos taken😉😊
Thanks the inspiering videos of yours 🤗
    Best Regards.

Right now I’m working on a COVID19 photo essay on how it’s affecting the town I live in.

During Covid 19 pandemic, I am currently preparing photo book series, compiling all photos I liked most. I was inspired by other photographers who did that.

Very good point of look for an inspirations, had same "pressure" on myself few months ago when I read a book about one of my fave photographers - Tadeusz Rolke, which was mainly shooting 6x6 format and dig up my old Start 66 from a box and started to take pics by him again after few months of break.
    Take care!

Thanks I enjoyed this. I had seen that documentary and that made me look at his camera but I couldn’t figure out what lens he was using.

Despite having the latest AF cameras, I feel inspired usually when I take my old Fuji X-Pro 1, or my older Ricoh GXR with an old manual focus lens on it - they slow me down and because of their limitations they make me think about every frame I make. (P. S: I rarely shoot film now)

@Back And Fort I understand your perspective - but I have ADHD and when faced with an easy way and a difficult way my brain will take the easiest path available ten times out of ten.
I'll show you an example of what I mean. My Fuji X-T2 is fast, has great peaking, and pretty good Autofocus. I always shoot in Aperture priority and move to full manual with auto iso if the situation demands it . With the XT-2 I can easily go to iso 6400 or more.
So with the xt2, there's convenience and speed, so I tend to see something and can immediately take a picture because I know all my settings and can change most of them without looking at the camera.
I hate that all Fuji lenses are focus by wire - it just isn't the same as having a proper manual focus lens. That's another reason I like the Fuji xf 23mm 1.4 - though it's focus by wire, it's got a manual focus ring with hard stops on either sides.
With the older X-Pro 1 it's a different scenario all together - the camera is slow to even start up. It's got black and white peaking which isn't very helpful. Can't go higher than iso 1600-3200 if I want a clean image. And the shutter has a noticeable lag. So with it I have to be more mindful of my settings - I have to make sure I am in focus and can't blindly trust the white peaking that's hard to see. I have to figure in the shutter lag and time my shot accordingly - because otherwise I'll miss the frame I'd thought of making. If I am planning for a person to walk into a certain area of my shot, I have to account for the shutter lag and press the shutter button slightly before he is there or he'll be past it in my picture.
Try borrowing or renting an older camera and you'll appreciate the difference when you experience it 😊

    Hi Kenneth!
Great channel & videos! I've subscribed!
I have an issue with my R6.2.
I have a couple of 3 cam lenses and at one point i could use them at any aperture. Now, they won't go past f4! The lenses only do this when on the camera.
Any ideas as to what has occurred and/or fix it?
    Thanks!

    • @kennethwajda
      @kennethwajda  3 роки тому

The CAM issue on Leica Rs confuse me, so I don't. But they will open past f4 off the camera? So weird. How about if you mount it at f2 or f2.8?

      They only open at f2.8 & f4.
Like i said, they used to open at all apertures.
I will focus more on trying to fix it. Wish me luck!
      Thanks Kenneth!

Well, i'm not sure what i did, but now the lenses are functioning properly again on my R6.2!
      Confused but happy! Lol!
Thanks Ken for the great videos!

Good topic, Ken. The Klein documentary is well worth a watch, as is another on Alfred Eisenstaedt - both very inspiring:
