A little background on this guy, he is a retired Turkish Jandarma (a special forces for border patrol and use with the police, so kind of a cross between SWAT and if the National Guard had a special forces).
They have 3 types of Special Forces in Turkey, Bordo Bereliler (Maroon Caps, their most elite military unit), Turkish Commando (like the US Army Rangers) and then the Jandarma

@@TheTruthhasbeenspoken Turkish special forces are trained to be able to consistently make headshots while on the run.
Their most elite group the "Maroon Caps" are trained to actively and accurately shoot while skiing. Not to be confused with those that stop and shoot, but actually actively skiing and shooting. This comes from the history of the warrior Turks that could accurately shoot arrows while riding their horses at full stride.
So, the "Jurisdiction" of the Jandarma are the borders of the nation. They're a very elite special forces but they only are within the country. The Commandos are part of the Army structure and the Maroon Caps, are a totally separate group that essentially report directly to the General Staff.

Yusef actually scored the highest out of all the men. It was a teams event and he got silver because of his partner. Serbian woman saved their team and I'm pretty sure Yusef choked that last shot on purpose. The geared up woman (Bhaker) on the India team was a beast too and up there with Yusef in points.

@@redtaipei He did compete in individual for the Olympics and placed 13th. He was ranked 4th individual coming off of the Germany world cup right before the olympics, but placed 1st in mixed teams there as well.

I’m a professional marksman, navy seals are not needed for the job. The bigger problem is the lack of professionally trained Olympic shooter talent in the US - there’s no money in it. There are maybe a couple hundred shooters “international shooting” pros in the US and maybe only 5-10 are low tier Olympic competitors.
Money is based on medal and country. so for example if you live in the USA a gold medal is worth like $30k but in other countries it might be less.

I used to compete in this event in the US as a junior (under 21). My brother was the best in the US for years and placed 9th and 12th in air and free pistol at the 2016 Rio games. USA Shooting as an organization is run terribly, and like most olympic sports does not treat athletes well, but uses them more as a commodity. It comes down from the top, as both the international and national governing bodies for olympic sports seek to undermine the shooting events and eventually seek to eliminate them from the games entirely. In the US especially there are too many other more fun, interesting, and easy shooting sports to compete in, so it's difficult to generate and sustain interest in these disciplines that are generally slow and uneventful compared to say, action pistol competitions. This is especially true when you factor in the complete lack of incentives to do so. The only real incentive is the glory of being an Olympian and maybe winning a medal and getting some prize money once every 4 years if you're lucky.
I think it’s a lack of opportunity, at least in some cases. My youngest joined 4H to shoot, and he was really good……very talented. He pretty much carried his whole team to State and Regionals. All his coaches kept asking if he’d had former training. I’m like “Dude, he’s in 5th grade.” Anyhow, I tried and tried to find a program that he could go further in and the closest one I found was about 3 hours away. I just couldn’t afford it. He’s all grown up now and still an excellent shot, but I can’t help wondering how far he could have gone.

fun fact: this guy didn't wear standard gear, and he got the highest score, because of the team's accumulated score he got silver. If this was solo he might have taken gold.
He told the gold winner who is his friend for a long time “ I am lending you the gold until I take it back in LA”. This was a mixed team match and teammate’s score is what caused him to end up with silver. He beat the Serbian gold winner in the world series before and he could do it again if this was a solo competition. I will watch him live in LA in 4 years!
