    Bought them same boots last fall from Fortnine. Love them. True to size. Very comfortable riding or walking. Found them nice and warm late fall with thin merino ski socks.

    I'm pleased i'm not he only one that thinks they are missing a loop .
    20,000 miles in mine and they are still going strong , so comfortable from the first time i put them on .

    I can confirm that these brown Hero boots are not with Gore Tex. Only the black ones come with Gore Tex. Good point about the loop not available. I suppose the zip makes them easier to put on and take off. Thanks for the review. Pete

    Easy enough to get on and off with the zip. I’m not sure the gear change pad is enough, it’s adequate, but I have walking boots that feel better for a gear change.

    • @BlueMarbleRider
      @BlueMarbleRider  4 роки тому +1

      Probably depends on the bike, but the gear change pad has worked for me without any problems for a couple of years now - stitching and seams are all good, although the left one is blacked slightly by the rubber on the lever. Cheers.

    Great review. Only point they are not gore-Tex. Tcx do have a Hero Gore-Tex version (only black).

    • @BlueMarbleRider
      @BlueMarbleRider  6 років тому +6

      Thanks, David. You may be right. All TCX say for the Hero Waterproof is " breathable internal waterproof liner." All I can say is it works. I rode home last weekend in the worst rain I have ever ridden in for 102 km on a new, naked bike. My feet were dry as a bone. Cheers for the feedback.

    The sole is not actually sewed on. It is a glued on Vibram sole. A stitched on sole would have the stick go through to the bottom of the sole. These are not that way.

    • @BlueMarbleRider
      @BlueMarbleRider  2 роки тому +1

      According to TCX the leather welt (the strip of leather that runs along the perimeter of shoe's sole) is sewn to the upper before it's attached to the sole, and then the strip gets sewn to the sole. It's a way of connecting the two.

    • @BlueMarbleRider
      @BlueMarbleRider  2 роки тому +1

      Hi, Cycle Life: yes the boots have been thoroughly abused and continue to perform very well. I expect they will last a good deal longer, given their condition, despite the abuse. Cheers.

    Do you use any shoe polish/cream on your boots? If so, which one?

    • @BlueMarbleRider
      @BlueMarbleRider  4 роки тому +1

      Yes, but rarely - come to think of it - they need a polish now! I use what we have - which is a clear waxy polish. It's labelled "Moneyswoth Best Premium Dubbin - for work and hunting boots, repels water and keeps leather supple." I have no idea where I got this! But its worked a treat on all sorts of leather boots and seems to restore the look of the TCXs to almost new (except for the gear shifter black smudge left from the bike - which I don't mind...). Hope this helps.

      Hi Tenny80: I’m assuming you’re a wide 12.5 UK? I recon a 47 will fit a med/13uk/13.5us, so perhaps sizing up to a 47 if you’re a wide 12.5. if you’re If you’re super wide - these may not be the boot for you. Make sure the vendor has a bulletproof return policy-it’s a lotta money to gamble. Cheers and good luck.

    These are the best boots I've ever worn, however, the cheaper boots that look nearly identical, X-Blends aren't nearly as good. I bought a pair of those after my zipper broke on my Heros (A year old. I had to painstakingly re zip it by hand and stitch it back together to keep it zipped permanently.) and the X-blends are nowhere near as nice. They arent as comfortable and dont look nearly as nice and they dont use a proper goodyear welt like the Hero's. They have a faux goodyear welt, but they are glued. They are suprisingly different and surprisingly inferior in pretty much every way except perhaps durability.

    • @BlueMarbleRider
      @BlueMarbleRider  5 років тому

      Might be worth taking those hero’s to a cobbler- they’ll be able to put a new zip in in a snap. Thanks for the comment.

    Is that the Scorpion Neo-Con helmet? Did you have any trouble attaching your camera to the chin? I ask because I have the same helmet in green and I was thinking of attaching a camera to the chin but I'm afraid it might get in the way of the air vent.

    • @BlueMarbleRider
      @BlueMarbleRider  4 роки тому

      Yes it's a neocon. It does get in the way of the vent, but I have a weepro anti fog insert inside the visor to stop fogging which works perfectly. I use a Proshot chin mount. Good luck.

    Hey, thanks for the great review! You said they kept your feet dry during a long ride in the raid, but how would the zipper seem fair stepping through a puddle or something like that? Typically waterproof zip-ups will fail in this department. What are your thoughts on these?

    • @BlueMarbleRider
      @BlueMarbleRider  5 років тому

      Jake Sheridan I can’t say for sure having never tried that, but my guess is that they would be dry up to within an inch or so from the top. The waterproof liner seems to end before the top and so I’m guessing water could leak in through there. Hope that helps cheers.

    • @Boobtube.
      @Boobtube. 5 років тому +2

      there is a gusset at the zipper. unless your walking thru a puddle that is 5 inches deep or more, you will be fine.

      @BlueMarbleRider  3 роки тому

      I guess that depends on your climate. In temperate climates, they're perfect, except on those days over 30C. But as they are waterproof, and very safety orientated, it's a trade off I'm ok with. Cheers.

  • @Coldgecko

    Thanks for review... I am in the market for a good and safe pair of boots. I ride a BMW R1200GS and when going on long trips usually wear Daytona boots -- but I think I will give up a bit of safety and look for some much more casual boots. So the TCX Hero might be the safest for what they are? I bought a long time ago the Stylmartin Indian boots and still have them - like brand new -- but they have virtually no protection and so I put them in the bottom of my closet -- Like what's the point of buying boots that dont protect? So with that in mind, and maybe you dont care as much as I do -- that's fine too -- but how safe of all these style boots are they?

    • @BlueMarbleRider
      @BlueMarbleRider  5 років тому

      Hi CG, For street boots they're not bad. Obviously not as safe as off road boots. They're a compromise because they look like shoes, but with ankle protection and fairly stiff soles, heel and toes probably a good compromise. Good luck.
