- I recently went on a family trip to Florida, and took Coco along. This video shows what I packed for her. We flew down and stayed in a pet-friendly rental. We had to unexpectedly drive back. The items work for either flying or driving with a dog. Thank you for watching!
**In the video I address that I have an ESA. ESA are not the same as service dogs, and do not have the same public access rights as service dogs accompanying their handlers. ESA can fly in cabin with their owners and live with their owners in no pet housing. You need a dr note saying you are disabled and that the dog is recommended as part of your treatment. Online registrations are not legitimate, and are not recognized by the ADA.

I suffer from anxiety and depression but my anxiety has gotten so much worst and I’m going to Florida in a few months and need my dog with me. Just mentally knowing he’ll be at the house when I get back helps.

+Kasey Gates Hi, thank you for watching! I asked my mental health professional to write the letter. It really helps if you do all the research before hand, in case your doctor isn't that familiar with emotional support animals. They may be more likely to prescribe the esa if you can present all the pros to having one. Just talk to them about how you feel the dog would help, and print off the requirements from the airline that need to be included in the letter. I'm planning on doing an in depth video in April. It also helps if your dog has been through basic obedience and behaves well in a public setting. This can help with the confidence the doctor has in writing the letter as well, if they feel confident the dog is well behaved. Just be ready with any questions they may have, and how you will handle your dog. One note, if your condition/disability is related to anxiety, especially social anxiety, talk with your doctor about how you may feel with the added attention a dog will draw. Hey I'm thinking about geting a Shih Tzu and I have to questions first of all let me just say this video was so helpful because we are going to be traveling a lot ok so my first question is when u show them the health papers and stuff do u have to give it to them or just show them.my next question is can u please to a video about the first things u would need when u first get ur Shih Tzu or all about shih tzus PLZZ it would help me soo much
Hi there! They only need to look at them. You need to keep them with you for the return flight. Also a good idea to have a digital copy on your phone in case you lose the paper.

Usually with an service dog TSA cannot ask u to take the gear of your dog.
I am fourteen and have to have my Service dog with me at all times. I have never flown with her because I haven't flown since I was diagnosed with anxiety. I was wondering how does Cocoa use the restroom on a longer plane ride. I am flying from FL to RI this winter and it's my first time traveling with a service animal. If you have any tips or tricks to make my life easier please let me know.
Hi, The longest flight we've taken is 6 hours from east to west coast. If your dog can hold it overnight while you sleep (usually 8 hours), then they should be able to hold. Some airports have air-side relief areas which are great because you don't have to pass back through security. If your airport only has land-side relief areas, leave extra time to potty your dog before. In an emergency, start training you dog to go on command on potty pads. Take a couple with you on the flight and pop into the bathroom.

Hi. Different vets prefer different treatments. When you schedule for your dog's exam, discuss with them your concerns. There are a lot of options- sedatives, antihistamines, pheromones etc

My family is going on vacation and we always take our dogs, because we usually drive. I don't know if the hotel we are staying at allows pets. I don't want to be one of those people that certify their pet as an ESA to get it on the flight for free. Do you have any tips for flying with a regular pet?
