hello from Europe. Yes topcoating is challenging. I messed up a coffeetable , all white streakes. I,ve mixed my polyutherane with my chalkpaint today 50/50 , that works great, but i,m dealing with rollermarks now. I guess that i will also be using Wise owl one hour enamel, or Dixiebelle Silk on later darker projects. Fusion mineral oaint was super easy to use, brushstrokefree in the black colour, but he endresult felt like plastic, but a layer of wax made a difference. Thanks so much for sharing all your experience, it,s a journey,, and you learn a lot with all the mistakes you make. Thanks for the prooducts you review, bye👍
Thank you for this video! I’m exploring Wise Owl paint products and learning about them. What spray paint device do you mention in the video and is it the best one you’d recommend? Thank you 🙏🏻
Thanks for this series on Wise Owl, since I'm just starting to try it. Do you have their varnish to try out. .It didn't seem to lay out as nicely as others I tried...maybe it's me. Thanks. Always enjoy your videos.
Leah Ben absolutely I’m excited to try out all the products and share my thoughts. I’m very picky about my topcoats so I’m excited to try it - stay tuned for a video on it. Thank you so much 😀
I'm about to try painting kitchen cabinets and think this is going to be the brand I go with. Having never attempted painting before, are the small ripples in the finished product from brush strokes or just the camera? I want a smooth finish on my cabinets so I'm contemplating diving in and trying a sprayer, but that scares me. Thoughts?
Lynnette McLaughlin so a little of what you were seeing is the board it was going on - it had some texture on it, I have used this many times and brushed and sprayed. I prefer to spray, the finish is flawless. No need to sand in between coats that way. I have brushed edges and small areas and have had no issue with brushstrokes. I do find there is a drag to it when using a brush, so working with large areas you may have to use a wet brush or have a water bottle on hand to assist with application, they do recommend spraying for the best results with this product, but it works well both ways. Most any paint you brush on you will have that chance to have some stroke look in the finish, it is different than a sprayed finish for sure.
Can you use it like chalk paint on furniture or do you have to sand it all the way down or prime the furniture. Just used behar caulk paint and having a hard time with top coat today using minwax polycryst. . First time using it been reading for a month about chalk paint and it is not going very good. Wish I had wise owl. You do a great job on your videos
Hi! Thank you! You do not have to sand at all, unless you need to fix dings or dents. Just give it a super good cleaning. Priming has to be done when using white or light colors on say cherry, mahogany or some oaks (with any paint brand that is recommended). Yeah I have tried the minwax top coat and not a fan. When I top coat I use general finishes high perfromance top coat (so easy to work with). :)
think I want to try it over fusion that's my one pet pet about fusion mineral paint I'm not a fan of the mat finish love the look of this paint is as durable as fusion?
Oh most definitely, I would say even more so. It was designed to be dry and ready to use within one hour. I have used on so many pieces, especially high traffic pieces and love it- this is what they say about it - is an incredibly tough fast dry acrylic enamel for interior and exterior use on surfaces that require a quick return to service and an abrasion-resistant finish. The product is based on a specialized acrylic resin that dries quickly to a tough, durable film that has excellent weather, blocking and abrasion resistance along with superior adhesion properties. With its’ quick-dry, quicksand and quick re-coat times. has a tough durable finish that is truly cutting edge. Its technology utilizes one of the strongest acrylic resins paired with superior synthetic pigments. It is absolutely an industrial-strength finish
Hello again! :-) You've recommended this paint for my cabinets on another video. I think I'm set on this one. I love white but not pure white. I'm looking for an Off-White color with a very discreet hint of yellow (Not too cream or ivory). Something like an Antique white. Since you're familiar with this paint, what color would you recommended on this product? I got a sample of the Antique Villa but I found it too bright. The retailer did not have the Kashmir or bone in stock for me to see. :-(
Hi there - it’s hard for someone else to pick your color but I would see if you could see Kasmir it’s a off white. Bone is more of a creamy pale gray on the white spectrum. The antique villa is described as the perfect off white. So I think it’s something you need to see firsthand before going forward. I have not used kasmir, so I can’t speak on that exact color.
I'm so sorry to bug you about this. I have chosen Wise Owl 1 hour enamel (that you recommended) to paint my kitchen cabinets. Have you ever used their Alabaster color? If so, how would you describe it? Does it have an ivory/yellow undertone? I have been receiving conflicting information from the company. I emailed their customer service and they said that Alabaster has an ivory/yellow undertone; however, on their official Facebook page says that Alabaster has zero yellow undertone. Maybe you can help me with that if you have used this color in any of your pieces. Thank you again for all the great videos you post!
So my opinion on the color - it’s an ivory - with beige/tan coloring, but I wouldn’t say a yellow more of a grey undertone as well. Its. It’s a cooler creamy dark white. Their website describes it similarly.
Three Spoiled Dogs you know with computer generated image colors sometimes times it’s hard to match another - simply white is a warm white with yellow undertones - I would look at alabaster, bone, and Kashmir
I love all of your work and great and in detail you explained everything. I can't wait to try this paint. ❤😊
Thank you so much - I so appreciate you taking the time to leave a nice positive comment 😀 you will love it
Getting ready to try this paint. Thank you for the tutorial.
Loved this paint! 😀

You will love it I am sure - it’s a great paint!
Thank you for this video!
I’m exploring Wise Owl paint products and learning about them.
What spray paint device do you mention in the video and is it the best one you’d recommend?
Thank you 🙏🏻
You bet! I was using an Earlex 5500 and it’s a great sprayer at a good price point! Would totally recommend - amzn.to/3Fabwnd
What about tack? That’s always an issue so I wind up sanding so many times to kill the sticky tack
GORGEOUS!!!!

Do I need to prime my cabinets before painting with the Wise owl ?
They do recommend for a shiny surface or if you concerned about bleed through to prime

@@BorninaBarnBoutique Thank you! I really appreciate your help! 😊
Do you think the One Hour Enamel would work for a kitchen countertop?
I can only speak to using it on cabinets and furniture. I would reach out to wise owl - they may be able to answer that better! 😀
@@BorninaBarnBoutique thank you! 😊
Can I use any brand primer under the one hour enamel?
Yes just be cautious using BIN Shellac - it sometimes has a tendency to react with several big brand name paints
If you need to sand between coats of OHE paint what is the best grit to use?
I like sanding sponges - I’ll link them here - amzn.to/2XspFJo
Born in a Barn Boutique thank you!
is there a wise owl color close to SW simply white!?! 🤷🏼♀️
Three Spoiled Dogs you know with computer generated image colors sometimes times it’s hard to match another - simply white is a warm white with yellow undertones - I would look at alabaster, bone, and Kashmir
Can the one hour enamel be used on Masonite?
Yes I would advise with any paint using a bonding or gripping primer before though!
Where do you buy the wise owl products?
Gladys Richard I buy direct from wiseowlpaint.com
Are you able to distress this paint?
Beth Mann Yes. You can either wet or dry distress.
Primer video, please!
P.B. Creel I just got in primer from Wise Owl that I want to try out and I have one that I currently like and use. I can do a video on both!
Do they mix custom paint in the 1hr. Enamel ?
No they don't mix custom colors for you!
