YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING!
DON'T FORGET TO SMASH THAT LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE BUTTON!!!
COMMENT WHAT YOU THINK OF THE BUILD SO FAR!
That pressure washer shot on the dirty under tray was super satisfying! Did not even realize it was aluminum!
That's aftermarket they call them skid plates it will protect the oil pan if ever you hit something with lowered coil over suspension.
Jjjjjj
Weak link of the internals is the head. Heavy duty Valve springs and retainers can get you to 450whp. With the mods you have, it’s running APR stage 2+. Best turbo that I would recommend to keep stock internals is the TTE420. Safe on a stock motor and absolutely rips. My MK6 R is currently APR stage 2+ as well. MAKE SURE TO CHANGE THE CAM FOLLOWER ASAP. Every 5-7k miles you need to replace the cam follower. Feel free to hit me up with any questions you have
Thank you!
Finally have a MK6 on the channel!!!!! Just Getting better and better!!!!
Great vid man! I would probably take the APR GTX2867 Turbo kit if you want to go to stage 3 with stock internals... Ofc, not with high boost, although it suppose to handle it with no issues. It's recommended to upgrade the oil cooling system so the oil won't boil
I’m a huge VW fanatic, always workin on em and I have a MK6 golf r myself, mines blue as well haha. But the stock motors are actually pretty capable of around 450 on stock internals. The turbo you’re gonna wanna look at is the Garrett GTX2867R. It’s a pretty simple bolt on turbo and will put you around that range you’re lookin for. I know you talked about the haldex sending most power to the front wheels, you can actually program it to become less front wheel biased and send more power to the wheels under normal driving. Just somethin to look into!
Idk why but the more Golf R’s I see in this Channel the more I watch lol
Thanks for bringing us yet another vibe 🥂 always enjoy watching ur videos
Launch control on a DSG MK6 Golf R:
Bring the vehicle to a complete stop with the engine running.
Hold the vehicle stationary with light pressure on the brake pedal.
Select either "S" or "+/-" modes with the gear selector.
Turn off the traction control (usually need to hold the TCS button for a second or two)
It's not DSG idiot
Riccardo lol
@@user-wl3lm2un5e What's funny bro!!!!
I'm learning alot from u bra.......#South Africa
Fo shure
The stage 2+ definitely has launch control, also comes with the ni lift shirt.. i had a 2012 audi a3 throw apr downpipe front mount air filter and bought the whole k04 turbo kit.. huge difference in power
Tim there are many tuning options for the tfsi motor. APR has a very nice GTX2867R kit, Revlimit has an RL500 kit, and TTE has the 420 and 480 (hp) hybrid turbo, there are many others. All these kits are bolt on. The APR kit has an additional auxiliry fuel pump for the low pressure fuel supply and comes with literally everything needed to make 450+hp.
My good mate has the APR stage 3 GTX2867R kit on his 6R, and it is making 466hp on his daily file.
From personal experience the stock motor is good for around 490hp max (again my own opinion), some guys make more but they are fked in the head.
The stock k04 turbo with the correct supporting mods (forge actuator and water-meth injection added to your current mods) can make up to 420hp on the crank. You'll also have the ability to flip between different tunes via the cruise control stork, up to 4 tunes can be stored and flipped through on the stock ECU, and you have user settable anti lag/launch control and NO LIFT SHIFT if you opt for a Revlimit tune. I think APR has the same options, not sure so maybe someone can comment and correct me. Not sure if Revlimit have a dealer in your part of the world either.
Anyway HMU if you need ANY tuning/modding advice.
Sending Big turbo vibes from South Africa
400 HP is safe on stock internals for an MK6 Golf (the one in this video). If you go APR stage 3, the turbo upgrade will be included (Garret GRX2867R or TTE420). I'd say you're making around 375 currently with the Stg 2+. Stage 3 is pushing the limits of the motor on stock internals.
We have many EA113 motors in South Africa making 450hp on the stock motor
It’s really bring more extra attention, when you explaining more about faults or extra noises, like for example lightweight clutch wheel for VW 2016 or Nissan Skyline break system issue related with ceramic breaks. Really Great channel.
Bro I am from Croatia and you make this so damn cool to watch,I just love what you did with that R mk7 and now with golf R mk6!
I'm tuned for more!
😁😁 🙏
Back with my homie BackYardBoyz!!!! And MK6!!!!!!!
Intercooler help with heat that in the summer. It's not required but it's a good thing running one
My first love was a Corrado VR6.
You guys should find one..
Sweet vid guys.
@Pheasant Pluckers son Cool as hell though, not too fast though you're right.
@Seeker ___ I truly loved my Jetta VR6, made me want a 3 series, ha ha.
HPA Motorsports is just across the border in Canada from you and they have some pretty awesome kits... you're gonna top out just under 420hp before you want to start considering a built bottome end. Also you should probably service the haldex system. MK6 have a filter of sorts that should be cleaned / replaced or you could burn out the electric pump on the haldex it can also slow down the engagement of the rear wheels :)
To turn on launch control on a 6 speed manual and properly launch:
1. Come to a complete stop
2. Press and hold the traction control button in the console for a few seconds until it beeps - the MFI will display ESC Deactivated
3. Engage the clutch
4. Bury the accelerator pedal to the floor until the boost builds to 6-8psi
5. Dump the clutch
That's it. Super simple.
Those internals should be fine with less than 500 bhp although you should take precaution with the crank seals because stage 2 clutch kits can lead to crank walk so you will want to reinforce those beforehand. Aggressive tuners have done builds up to like 700 bhp on the stock internals but you're tempting fate.
This channel is getting better and better keep those mk6 content coming plz 🙏
@BackYardBoyz I've been watching your rebuild and just realized that you are in my hometown! I have a 2016 Golf R Manual that is currently bone stock.
If you want to make big reliable horsepower on the mk6 platform I'd suggest going for the integrated engineerings IE450 T turbo. Makes a good amount of horsepower and they are fairly reliable especially for making in the neighborhood of 450hp. Congrats on the purchase!
No longer available. I got the last one 😈
Ko4 turbo (aka Audi S3 turbo) R8 coils, Good intake, hopefully you already have downpipe and good flow exhaust. And obviously software to go with the hardware.
Stock internals probs 600bhp the current ko4 turbo 380bhp
Can’t wait for another episode bro, best wishea from Lithuania 🙌🏽
Hi, late to the convo Mk6R owner here. The intercooler on that is not stock. That's aftermarket like a lot of other changes. Stock intercooler is smaller and black on the sides. As this car was APR S2'd out, and you can tell the owner liked APR specifically, big chance it's an APR IC - which would be branded into the metal on the lower left on the front side. When going to S2 APR, like most tuners that also make intercoolers, suggests upgrading this item as well (but it isn't necessary). You might also want to check to see if the car has no-lift shift and launch limiter - most people who APR their car get these extra ECU upgrades as well.
Looks pretty good. Love the Golf R. Big Up from South Africa.
It's got launch control buddy. Turn of DTC. Put it to the floor and the remove your foot from the break. Also check for a K04 turbo. It probably has one...if not...GET IT. You can get 400hp easy. I've seen 740 to 8. You will love it. Good luck bro.
Stock internals can handle 500hp reliably, if you plan to push more then that build the bottom end. Mk6 Drivers page on Facebook have a lot of helpful individuals pushing 500+ hp. As for the ticking that's completely normal.
My favorite channel!! Love this type of content, I wish I can do it my self were I live..
This dude is gonna get up their, love the volkswagens. Do more maybe like a Diesel jetta or something.
Best turbo stock is the tte 420
Engine will do 450 crank hp safe
Stock IC are 3.5 cm wide if it is larger it is an upgrade
Do cam follow ASAP
Ran stage 3+ for 50.000km with tte420
At stage 4 now build engine 520hp/590nm crank
Finally I was waiting for this Tim
Nice work. Well done
I wish they’d fix up the whole car and release like an hour long video because waiting a few days just kills me
That would be less content for them. 1 video vs 5+. The goal for you tubers is more content to get more views. That’s how they get paid by UA-cam. Plus they have to wait for parts.
nathan ross that’s true but they could just release an extra video after that showcases all the parts in one although it would be pointless if just prefer to watch it like that
I think the Golf R makes a great sporty daily driver, but they are not as glamorous as the European Focus ST and RS cars so are not so popular (over here in the UK). Maybe this one would make a nice quality rebuild with the alignment sorted and a good tune without throwing too much extra money at it.....- someone will snap it up I’m sure. Stay blessed boys!
That’s exactly what I’m thinking 😎
So. You asked towards the end about what a stock motor can make. I own a 2013 Mk6 R. Actually subbed to y’all cause of this series so keep it up!
Anyway, before I start. I’m not an expert. I’m not a mechanic and I don’t know everything but I have a pretty good idea so I’d recommend double checking my #’s
The stock motor is actually quite capable. I don’t have near as many mods as this dude (just a cold air intake and a catback) so I’m only making barely above stock hp, which is around 270 for me. Your car currently has and forgive me if I forget stuff, a intercooler, HPFP right? A catback, idr seeing a cold air intake. Now you guys are saying it’s probably stage 2. I think differently for one reason. It sounds like my golf, which just has a catback. If your golf was stage 2 it would need a downpipe, which makes the car noticeably louder actually. It might be stage 1 but I’m doubtful on stage 2. If I had to guess y’all’s hp #’s, id say 320. If you don’t have a tune at all I’d say 290-300.
Again I’m not a mechanic or expert or anything, just a fellow mk6 R owner. She’s pretty and she already has a lot of potential! If I could recommend engine upgrades, and I’d assume y’all wanna do this when you fix the car enough to not have to zip tie it 😂, I’d recommend a tune. They really bring out the power in the car. Like I said you already might have a tune but if you aren’t stage 2 I’d consider the downpipe + tune. Problem now is, Apr discountinued their stage 2 codes and downpipe which makes me sad cause I want those things. I’d recommend Unitronic if you do consider it. You asked about the turbski upgrades. Apr makes a Ko4 turbo system which makes powahhh. Also Revo has a very well built upgraded turbo. Intergrated engineering does too. I’d recommend some good research though. I’m broke so I can’t afford an upgraded turbo so I haven’t looked super well into them lol
Anyway. I know you might not even see this but this can help anyone I hope. I’m so happy for this build and can’t wait! 🤙🏻🤙🏻
The car is 100% tuned, it would throw a cel if it wasn't, and APR wouldn't go Hpfp and intercooler if it wasn't a downpipe, he is mostlikely running a res and muffler catback and a 200cel downpipe, if you want sound you decat your downpipe, you can have a real quiet exhaust and still tuned.
Also what would apr k04 system do? Its running a k04 stock, if you would want to go "stage 3" you would go GTX2867R and get a bit out of it as its already has supporting mods with it being stage 2 +. The best option would be to go "stage 4" straight away and go a GtX3071R and run watermeth kit as you could push more and you would need to upgrade piston rods, pulley and bearings could easily make 300kw atw
Eclipse Dawg I said I’m not an expert. I’m just tryna help lol. It could be tuned for all I know but I just said it’s odd imo that it’s that quiet for stage 2, hence why I said it was probably stage one. Also the stock turbo is a IS38 so a Ko4 would be stronger.
@@Ragged.09 Stock turbo is a k04, is38 is
Eclipse btw do you own a golf or anything? Just wondering
It has such a large intercooler because of the small turbo, to produce the airflow and therefore pressure needed it has to work much harder and that causes the charge air to heat up a lot more
Stock internals are good to 450ish crank. Stock trans is happy to 550ish. You can certainly get more, but not for long. APR Stage 3 is a 2867, use their latest revision GTX and you have a winner. I’m waiting on my built motor for IE’s literal last 450T kit.
Love your videos
450hp. Garret gtx3076
Im loving the mk7/mk6 content. Smashing it as always. Respect bro🤜🏼
With the tb exhaust, hpfp and intercooler the car should have a APR stage 2+ tune at a minimum. This is estimated from APR to produce 351-379 HP and 349-404 FT-LBS of torque. These numbers vary due to modifications and fuel types between 91- 100 octane.
You can check if it is anything more than 2+ by either reaching out to APR and giving them the VIN or checking the lower pressure fuel pump and see if it is an APR fuel pump as well. The low pressure fuel pump in the top of the fuel tank under the back seat. Stage 3 requires this to be replaced as well as valve springs, fuel rail relief valve, plugs and gaps changed to .022 + or - .002. Stage 3 produces 392-442 HP with 401-449 FT-LBS of torque depending on fuel type.
You can throw 450whp if you take care of it, wouldn’t go any higher then that without doing some bearings, rods, and head studs
Around 350 safe ps on stock turbo. Your best bet for a street car that is drivable get the Garrett GTX2867MKII that can push you up to 500 ps (with some mods)
Check out venom turbos on the UK
i think APR tunes have launch control you should try and see if it had that feature
With as much APR stuff as you have on there I would guess that there might be the flat shift feature as well, or you can go add it for pretty cheap. This will give you faster launches as you don't lift up on the accelerator during the shift, you just keep it flat to the floor. It is a $100 to have APR load it up. Cool video, I will keep up on your progress as it gives me incentive for my 2012 Golf R with not yet 25K miles on her.
How do you activate the flat shift? If it’s not always on..
@@BackYardBoyz Here is a full breakdown for the options on that car from APR as well as what constitutes each of the stages.
www.goapr.com/products/software/ecu_upgrade/parts/ECU-20T-EA113-T-K04
Over here in the UK, the motors can do up to 400HP on stock internals and stock k04 turbo. I also own a mk6R
Hey dude, another two golf r more and we got the 100.000 subscriptions. Keep it up! Greetings from Argentina!
Fast and a nice looking car , and the color...Amazing !!!
Maybe you will have launch control if you set your map to the correct setting, at least thats how it is for my mk6 golf r, you can try calling apr and see if theres manual book for your tune
Love all you vids❤️
Good job Tim love ❤️ this
Stage 4
(430-440Ps, 490-510Nm)
More efficient intercooler
Garrett turbocharger
Exhaust manifold made of high-quality cast iron
Strong Sachs Performance clutch for versions with manual gearbox
More efficient high pressure fuel pump
Revised high-pressure pump drive system
More efficient low pressure fuel pump
Do a Haldex service and clean the screen on the pump!
that Golf R asks for stage 3. great vid cheers.
If it wheelspins like that you might need to take a look at the haldex clutch it might need a new one it might also be the wheel
The crap Pirelli's won't help either
This golf can handle 9999hp with backyardboys turbo🤣😍❤
Next build is that semi truck in the back? 🤣🤣🤙🏼🤙🏼
i just bought a golf R. ive had it for a 1 this past july. Sweet car so far. I came from a Mazda Protege5. Im gonna be watching very closely. Im so glad you brought one these to the channel. Esp. since you had the Mk7 GolfR. I def wanna go STAGE 2+. Im wondering what i need. The most power i do want would be max 500. but my aim is 450hp. Good stuff man.
for me is the most nice car in the wold !! greetings from mexico
It has 270hp on stock in the R version (2.0L) nd it can reach over 400hp with the big turbo 💪 ... Keep it up boys huge support from Algeria ... 💙🇩🇿
The alignment you described is called "crabbing", the car moves like a crab walks.
Best channel on UA-cam!!!
Tim I love this channel you get some sick cars.plus you do some very good work well done fella .from London England 👍👍👍👍👍
Stock motor can handle 500 whp, best turbo is a gtx3071r gen 2 from Garrett. I dailyd mine for 2 years on that turbo setup at 22psi. Also with my Unitronic tune, you needed to disable traction to enable launch control.
Fsi's always tick 🤷
The TICKing is normal n80 valve or evap valve opening and closing....
you can prove it by unplugging the n80 valve
Byb Tim why you don't put the video on audi a5 because I see the audi it's done with paint a other staf
My golf r has a gt3076r, im on stock internals making 430whp on united motorsports tune, the motor is good for around 480 on stock internals from what my tuner told me. But you would have to upgrade your fuelling system for sure, i have rs4 injectors, and a ttrs low pressure fuel pump with a pm4 control module and an rs4 fuel rail valve. The gtx28 turbos spool up so fast on these cars, i would definitely recommend those compared to a gt30 it has a bit a turbo lag, if you need to know anything else ill be glad to help
Another Golf ? BROOO, AND YOU ARE SAYING YOUR NOT A GOLF FANATIC ??? Great video again, can't wait for the next one. Stay safe !
Relax the other golf was a customers
Nice Video as always!
that alignment tho 😩🔥
Nice going guys love the r. I have a 2012 mk6 gti edition 35 stage 2 with titanium 3.5inch downpipe and a openairfilter. The power i am pushing is 330hp but fwd is killing me tho. For the sound definitly remove the mid or back silencer and also ad a downpipe for louder burble and farts too bad its not a dsg so the farts are better with a dsg like in mine. Also would recomend carboncleaning the engine with c3 from the intake to keep the idle less noisy and make the car pull smoother.
Tim gives me a Scandinavian vibe
A safe 510hp on my mk6 GTI with K03S turbo by BorgWarner. Also a chip for engine and dsg, full exhaust, injen intake, peloquin diff, ignition parts from rs3 mk2,b.o.w. Valve by FORGE.Also knew that K04 turbo kit is better to instal on that engines for better turbine spool on 400+ h.p.
REVO HAS TURBO KITS AVAILABLE FOR THE GOLF R 🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪
We need more golf.
I ran a tte480 hybrid turbo on stock engine around 440 bhp and iv seen people run 500 bhp on big turbos and been ok for some time but it’s never classed as safe, things can break
13:01 any one else dive away from the screwdriver hahah
Waiting for c63 episode xD anyway very good videos. Keep going
Sport mode on, traction control off activated the launch control on my gti
Used a turbo technics v4
I think you stated that the turbo boost pipe had a hole in it? The car won’t run that well at all with a boost leak
Much better 👌🏼
Hey tim i wonder is the car in limp mode and it's safeguarding itself by reducing the hp ,good few lights still on the dash , 300 hp should go pretty hard and that didn't look like it, awesome channel 👍
Apr, stage 3. But to keep it safe and drivable, I would stay around 400-450whp mark. Great build 👌
I don't see a problem with a pressure wash. When it rains the engine bay gets wet in any case.
Search up Arthur's golf R in the UK running 600bhp that things insane or look up Storm developments.
Wack a Garrett turbo on that vw
The bigger the Intercooler the better the performance. In the Middle East we always get a bigger Intercooler on GTI's, mostly coming from the R. Knowing that it was called GCC specs to compensate heat, it used to be faster than a North American GTI. After fruther investigation, it turned out that a better/upgraded cooling system gives the car a better performance based on multiple pulls performed. The lower the temperature, the better the performance, thus providing a better experience overall. To be very honest, it is very comon to see a Stage 2+ with an upgraded Intercooler, I believe it is must knowing that the car will be boosting at around 1.6 bar (depending on the tune) and the overall power the car will be delivering. Extra power is generated from the turbo + HPFP combination, creating a huge amount of extra heat. Fingers crossed that this car has an upgraded clutch, highly needed at stg2+.. Enjoy it
Just finished watching the full episode. Mainle a TT420 with an upgraded tune would be the best you can get on somewhat stock internals. Injectors should be changed in my opinion to max out the upgraded turbo. Another thing I remembered about HPFP (High Pressure Fuel Pump), it litteraly eats the CAM FOLLOWER, make sur eto change it every 10'000KMs maximum. In addition, if you are going to drive that hard every single day, make sure to check the oil level every now and then as well, knowing that you are running a Stage2+ tune. Btw 20PSI is not bad at all on a Stage2+, however as I said before I saw pretty much a 1.6-1.7 bar boost runing smoothly on a similar set up..
get the mddle turbo not the biggest and see how you run.
Powerful 💥👍
Ive seen people anywhere from 410-450hp on stock internals with a ko4 swapped turbo, if you want to push big power might wanna consider a water/methanol injection system on golf rs
lil too much coolant lol
look into a k04 hyrbid
Is38 turbo, it’s cost effective and bolt on. Many golfs run them. It should be good for 400hp very safe too
Bro I saw that golf r vid too lol you should def go for it
Been waiting let's goo
