I went to see The Color Purple right before Jennifer Hudson's last performance fully expecting her to steal the show with her powerhouse voice: then Cynthia sang. AMAZING! I got goosebumps everytime she opened her mouth to sing. Great show, absolutely stellar performances.
I was fortunate enough to see her as Celie back in February and her performance completely and utterly blew me away. I have never been in a theater that's had the sort of reaction from the audience that The Color Purple did (and I've seen Hamilton!). I think both the audience reaction, and the fact that she performs the role with such power and emotion, is a true testament to her talent, and I truly hope she wins a Tony for her performance.
When she said Pippin I damn near screamed bc SHE WOULD BE SUCH A PHENOMENAL LEADING PLAYER!!! Pippin was the first show I saw on broadway and Patina Miller killedt that role and so would Cynthia Erivo, just thinking about it makes my heart race
LOOOOVE HER! This interviewer keeps interrupting people though, would've been nice to hear her keep going on her thoughts. But she is brilliant brilliant stunning! And don't even get me started live...when I saw her...OMG.
Im so lucky I've witnessed her performance as Celie in person
Saw her the night before she won and went Tony Awards day and was COMPLETELY blown away by her 😭
Saw her 2 weeks ago and holy shit she's amazing
Earned every bit of that TONY! Give her 10 more. She's AMAZING!!!!
If I could even have an EIGHTH of her vocal ability and physique I would be happy for the rest of my life
