  • In this video I help a friend out with his recently purchased Massey Ferguson 40 combine harvester. After sitting for 3 years the fuel and electrical systems need a little TLC. We'll move onto the rest of the machine in future videos along with putting it to work.

    She's a cracking machine. Seems to burn diesel nice and clean for old Machine.👍

      She's very clean once warmed up a bit. The previous owner told me it smokes like crazy on the first start of the season but clears up quickly. Can't remember the hours on it but they are very low. Hope all is well Ali!

      It's an incredible engine. We need to sort out a shield beside it that rattles at idle though.

    One hell of a machine in its day still a well capable machine now still some about in England cropping up for sale for not a lot of money

      Itll be interesting to see how it performs! It's a nice machine. I think their physical size makes them a bit awkward for smaller users, hence the decent prices. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Hi Dave; love combines but at the same time they frighten me to death when running with the covers open, surely the owner owes you a pint now? keep the videos coming, stay safe.

    • @davesworkshop2714

      I owe the owner a lot of pints 😂. We've been friends a long time and he's done me plenty of favours. To be honest, it's nice to work on something different, and to have someone else working with me. There's lots of scary stuff under the covers, but I do a lot of work in high voltage substations, so you learn to keep your hands clear! Thanks again for watching 🙂👍. Down with the CAT at the moment working on the next video.

      I never knew that, but the owner told me that the MF 40 is a Dronningborg . They bought the company at some point. Thanks for watching 👍

    I've got a problem with mine it runs for about 20 minutes then cuts out will start again after I wile I've changed the fuel filters and no better

    • @davesworkshop2714
      @davesworkshop2714  Рік тому

      John, I'd suggest looking at the fuel line, theyre rubber throughout their length and can perish or get chewed by rodents. When it does cut out also make sure that the fuel solenoid is still on (should be a loud click up at the engine when you turn the key on). Does it die suddenly or start to stutter and lose power? Where are you based?
