If you're baking in an OTG then bake in the middle rack with both rods on without fan for 15-20 minutes or until it looks golden brown. When you take it out, it won't be crispy, if you let it rest it will go nice and crispy.
Thank you Smriti for the wonderful snack recipe.... This lockdown as kids are home all day and wants something to munch this is something a must try..... Best recipes to make at home
You can use creamy paneer. Just grind it up in a mixi and use. It won't be the exact same.. But it will still impart flavour. Also, cream cheese is easily available in local markets these days. Have a check.
Hey Smriti Made them today. Sticks came out so delicious. My kitchen was smelling just awesome. Thanks for recipe. Just one thing, sticks were too soft to hold , so was breaking. I weighed exactly same as your recipe. Found butter too much may be because of that sticks were too soft crispy to hold.
Ohh.. If they were soft they aren't baked enough, so bake it for a longer time... Everyone's ovens are different. Also, you have to let them cool down... That's when they will crisp up, not whole they're still hot. You won't feel the butter once it is fully baked.
This looks so good. I'm definitely going to try this. Thank you for sharing.
Yei! Will wait for your pictures!
Very nice
Hey It's so nice of this cream cheese idea!!
Only couldn't figure out exact baking little tricky

I made the cheese straws today, and they tasted great! Sprinkled sesame seeds on top for added texture. Thanks for the recipe :)

Smriti's Special yup, after cooling down sticks were good but still very delicate
I made them yesterday and i had the same problem. Either is was too much butter or the wrong kind of flour. Will try again with less butter.
Awesome
Thank you!
Hi Smriti,
Can we use cheddar cheese instead of mozzarella cheese?
Thanks
Yes you absolutely can! That would be delicious too!
What is the shelf life of these cheese straws?

Should we bake it with both the rods on??
Top and bottom or only one side?
Bake according to your oven instructions. Each oven is different. For OTG use both rods on.
