House has to be the best of medical dramas ever as Hugh Laurie is a phenomenal actor and his supporting cast meshed beautifully the entire series. I still cannot make up my mind if I hated or loved Dr. House and the ending was awesome as I had mixed feelings of his getting away with faking his death and I still can't make up my mind to this day!!!! Seeing Laurie's career from working with Stephen Fry in Bertie & Wooster and Rowan Atkinson in Blackadder in comedic roles he still managed to play the anti-hero in House. I don't plan to binge watch the series again but I am so grateful for these clips as they jog my memory of some of the best episodes. I don't know if he'll get another successful series but his playing the villains in a couple movies he's been in shows he'll dominate the acting niche for the rest of his career.
He wasn't being chill. The video made it pretty clear that his response to pain due to his condition is smiling and appearing happy. He wasn't chill or happy at all. He's in fact in quite a bit of pain.
I wouldnt call that having balls. I think hes an idiot. Im not religious, but if god exsists. People pray to him for a cure. God gives someone the tools and thought proccess to make a cure. Then the people praying for the cure spit in gods face by rejecting it. Why would you ask for something and then when he gives it to you. You reject it. Stupidity and cowardice.
nah hes just stupid for doing that to her own little baby, sorry to say this but its true i hate these type of people who they dont want to be saved just because "god doesnt want them to" (the actor did an amazing job)
The character is an idiot. Even if you're a believer, refusing the help God is presumably offering you in the form of modern medicine is like thanking God for giving man the brains to figure this stuff out, and then spitting on the gift and telling him that you wanted a different gift instead.
they might be talking about a different study but the one I've heard of found the opposite. no difference from prayer but knowing you were being prayed for made the conditions worse. it was attributed to extra stress because they felt if they didn't recover it would disprove God.
That can't be true, I think most people who believe prayer may possibly heal them would see getting worse as "it's simply their time" rather than "god doesn't exist"
@@ghostwalk2446 it's been a while since I read the specifics, but It wasn't attributed to God not existing as the sources of the decline, it was more like performance anxiety, as in " my family is doing all this work for me thru the prayer, and I'm not getting noticeably better and I'm letting down my family" type thing
@@ghostwalk2446 maybe, but since they know that they're part of this study (they have to because of ethics rules) they would know that what happens to them would have an effect on how people view religion. it's not so much them worrying about God not being real, it's worrying about being used to prove that God isn't real.
But @@wesleyewert1023 does have a point if the patients were aware of what broader hypothesis the study was focusing on. It's possible the patients only knew what factors were being observed.
I didn't hate her, but I didn't particularly enjoy her, either. The exact opposite of Park, actually, who was an interesting character as conceived but played by an abysmal actress.
I dont think he was crazy i think he was desperate. If im not mistaken its a common thing in some latino places when something dire happens people will make deals with god “if god does this, ill crawl a mile on broken stones” so in a time of crisis he prayed to god, made his promise and he keeps it cause he knows the grief of dealing with a dying loved one
I would argue that faith is, in itself, a sign of mental illness. But even if we don't go down that road, it's pretty clear that anyone "making a deal with god" is delusional. There's absolutely no rational basis on which to base something like that. BY DEFINITION it is irrational, illogical, and delusional.
It reminds me of a family friend. Her labour was very complicated. Afterwards, there was a chance of her baby dying. The mother was praying to her god, promising to reject alcohol and sweets. Her son is now married and she herself hasn't drunk or eaten sugar since 34 years. I absolutely don't believe in God's intervention. It's very depressive that such being would just wait in the clouds to make a deal but I never thought about the mother badly and I'm actually impressed with her conviction.
According to the talmud, the 1st question God axes when you meet is: "Why have you rejected the pleasures I gave to you "....in moderation. Get her a Lindt Milch Chocolat
It's when you make an obviously stupid and impractical-in-terms-of-healthy-life deal, that these convictions are dangerous. Otherwise they can help one improve their life.
So she doesn’t eat fruits or vegetables either? Some veggies contain sucrose (the same type as cane, processed, sugar) and some contain fructose and glucose. Also does she drink milk? Lactose is a sugar. Honey, agave, maple syrup…all sugar also. She’s either only doing it halfway or she’s malnourished (fruits and veggies are necessary dietary components).
God isn’t “waiting in the clouds to make a deal” bro. Humans are proud and fallen creatures, like the w prodigal son. God never abandons us but waits for us to come to Him in our own time. He’s not forcing anyone to come to him, bc that’s not how faith works: it’s about a relationship with God. But thank you for sharing that story, happy to hear everyone is thriving 👌
My understanding of Christianity would lend me to interpret that it wasn't that her deity did this for her as a bargain but that this was a bargain she made with it. If her baby living was part of the deity's design, she would live more spiritually, if not, then maybe she wouldn't.
His reaction to pain when Masters is talking to him is like we react when we work in retail or costumer service: constantly in pain and suffering, but being forced to smile
The studies regarding the efficacy of prayer to aid recovery actually showed the opposite. Prayer did only have a significant effect on those who knew they were being prayed for, yes, but that effect was fairly uniformly negative. The research seems to suggest that people tend to stress out over whether the prayer is helping, ultimately leading to worsening prognosis.
In the PS2 game _Twisted Metal: Black_ one of the playable drivers was a crazed padre who had driven a nail through the wall going the other direction, so that when he nail-gunned one hand in self-crucifiction he could slam his other hand against the second nail.
I’m just as religious as the next guy but the way I see it is God basically gave you the doctors in order for you to get better. If you expect him to come down and he like “you’re all good bruh” then it’s not going to happen but the doctors showing how they can cure you is God working through them

you can tell the actor is at least a little religious dude was struggling to smile when his daughter said she would hate God buttttt the condition inverts his emotions so yeah.
They got the prayer recover thing backwards. Prayer actually works at the rate of chance, UNLESS the patient knows they are being prayed for, in which case the recovery rate is less than that. In other words, it doesn't work, but it's actually detrimental when when the patient knows they are being prayed for.
The most hilarious thing I've heard in my lifetime is that non-believing scientists made a 'study' on prayer by making prayers to test God! Magically, they concluded prayer doesn't work!
@@CzarLazar1389they don’t. Also, the study was done under the scientific method, double blinded to eliminate bias, and was conducted thrice in three different countries, each independently coming to the same conclusion. Biology doesn’t run on magic and miracles.

The purist signs of true idiocy. These hypocrites pray to God for a long, fulfilling life not only to themselves but to others, doctors come along and develop high-quality medicines and even eradicate some diseases, then they say "it's against God's will". Practice what you preach. This is what happens when you rely too much on prayer. You become sanctimonious and self-righteous.
3:49 They're both mistaken. Peer reviewed studies (go find em yourself I haven't memorized the sitation) did not show that outsider prayer aids in patient recovery. And she's completely mistaken. The studies showed that the recovery outcome was statistically worse when the patient knew they were being prayed for.
THE studied? Presumably the only studies. Ever done? Come on, at least check for other studies before assuming the situation you haven't memorised is the only ever one.

No. He did. He wanted to die.

Was wondering where I saw him
I love that chase is becoming more like house. That line about irony.
God wants me to die my child🤣😂🤣
My man is examining Santiago munez and hasn’t asked for an autograph yet
How can u be so chill about your TEETH FALLING OUT
Lost 3 with my ms in a week
Thinking god loves him gave him confort. In short, he is nuts.
He wasn't being chill. The video made it pretty clear that his response to pain due to his condition is smiling and appearing happy. He wasn't chill or happy at all. He's in fact in quite a bit of pain.
If you have an autoimmune disease, it's fairly common. You can get used to anything if you have no choice.
@@anitasolvang9340 Did you get them replaced?
This man's balls on doubling down on his life in front of his daughter
Balls? How about stupidity? Do you seriously admire THAT level of ignorance?
Not balls whatsoever.
He's running away from responsibility
7:53 Veeeeeery subtle imagery there lmao
The girl talking to her dad is a great actress. I hope she gets more roles. She is also so extremely beautiful
they might be talking about a different study but the one I've heard of found the opposite. no difference from prayer but knowing you were being prayed for made the conditions worse. it was attributed to extra stress because they felt if they didn't recover it would disprove God.
I think it's the study done by the temple Institute, but if I recall the results were as you described not the show.
I always wished Masters stayed on longer or something. She seemed really cool and was an interesting juxtaposition to House.
I loved her
I didn't hate her, but I didn't particularly enjoy her, either. She was a poorly-conceived and poorly-written character (the Hollywood Genius trope with added ridiculous levels of moral rigidity) played by a good actress.
Certainly not crazy for making deals with god!
@@frlipa but such a stupid decision that he made period.
I would argue that faith is, in itself, a sign of mental illness. But even if we don't go down that road, it's pretty clear that anyone "making a deal with god" is delusional. There's absolutely no rational basis on which to base something like that. BY DEFINITION it is irrational, illogical, and delusional.
Too bad that isn't how God works
It’s a common Christian thing
12:40 - that child is a most convincing actress.

7:54 House hits that T-Pose
Lmao I thought he was gonna crucify himself
His reaction to pain when Masters is talking to him is like we react when we work in retail or costumer service: constantly in pain and suffering, but being forced to smile
The studies regarding the efficacy of prayer to aid recovery actually showed the opposite. Prayer did only have a significant effect on those who knew they were being prayed for, yes, but that effect was fairly uniformly negative.
The research seems to suggest that people tend to stress out over whether the prayer is helping, ultimately leading to worsening prognosis.
This show always finds amazing actors to play patients
"And you care?" "No, but it's an excuse you can't argue with."
How can he nail himself to a cross every year if he dies of illness? Even through his logic, this should be a thing he wants to solve.
Is anyone wondering how he nailed both hands to a cross
In the PS2 game _Twisted Metal: Black_ one of the playable drivers was a crazed padre who had driven a nail through the wall going the other direction, so that when he nail-gunned one hand in self-crucifiction he could slam his other hand against the second nail.
He was a top class Joiner !

I’m just as religious as the next guy but the way I see it is God basically gave you the doctors in order for you to get better. If you expect him to come down and he like “you’re all good bruh” then it’s not going to happen but the doctors showing how they can cure you is God working through them
Yeah god was like here’s some doctors I’m spawn um down

one of my favorite ongoing themes in house is how they just break into peoples houses
How does somebody crucify themselves??? Asking for a friend
Its most probably just nailing nails to the hand and not attaching oneself to a plank board.
An automated system maybe?
nail both feet and one hand to the cross, get a friend to nail your last hand

I am fairly certain that one cannot crucify themself.
They would need someone else to perform the crucifixion on them.

House violated HIPPA by having his tailor in the room while discussing patient symptoms and diagnosis. I can see why Cuddy was always mad.
He didn’t say his name (unless he did before the clip), so not a violation

It's HIPAA, I'm not even American and I know this.
Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), but it's notable for the privacy protections, so people add on an extra P to the abbreviation
Nothing directly identifiable was mentioned with the tailor in the room, so its fine.

7:53 When a video game character's animation takes a while to kick in properly after a load screen (T-Pose)

Sir this isn’t reddit
The funniest thing about this entire show is how often they break into peoples houses. lol
Doctors must be 10 a penny in the hospital, so many looking after 1 patient + never any nurses attend any patients
House heads a unique diagnostics department, hence the highly unusual setup.
House getting measured for a suit while doing the pose Jesus was crucified in was hilarious 😭😭
