Mustangs are like Camaros, Subarus, 370Z, etc. They are fast, cheap, but their styling makes everyone thinking that you are either a kid or going through a middle age crisis. It's not hard to make really fast cars. The same way it's not hard to do luxury vehicles. The really hard part is getting both in the same car. There is simply no other car that simultaneously combines luxury, 1/4mile time and track performance and still gets you hi-five from the boss when you drive to the company party.
The Roush actually has 440 crank (Eaton M90 roots blower) and if he has a 2.57 snout pulley and Cold Air Intake, he is laying down almost 400 at the rear wheels. The BMW at 400 crank is laying down roughly 340 RWHP. The BMW is lighter. The Roush needs a driver modification - sounds like some bad tire spin at launch. Were you still "on it" when the 'Stang passed? Nice BMW!
Hit the corners and the Stang will be history. I like both cars but I'd go for the BMW. It's got tons of smooth effortless power to offer, excellent ride, quiet interior, all the creature comforts and it won't be punishing on a long ride.
@White05Turbo the brake caliper feel off the left rear wheel of our jetta the day after we bought it from the dealer. it was scraping the inside of the rim, we had to use a hanger to wire it up enough to get home. but that was before we found out it uses a quart of oil a month, and is a "standard thing". but then once we got hopeful it was over all the knobs melted in the car. no joke
As is the Mustang GT, especially the 4.6. The 5.0 is an animal, but the 4.6 was capable of a 60 under 5 seconds after a break in. Which was a big thing, considering at the time it cost ~ 26k-30k to buy.
The ///M540i is an actual model designation. It was developed as a stop gap between the E34 M5 and the E39 M5. I think only less than 50 where ever imported into Canada and as far as I know none where sold in the US. They were a Euro model which for some reason was easier at the time for BMW to sell in Canada albiet at very low numbers.
@bballman345 how wouldn't he? Guys have made 430whp at 8psi, which is definitely a modest boost level, and that equates to around 500 flywheel horsepower.
I love Fords, grew up working on Cleveland 351's out of Ford Bronco's and the occasional 289 from a Stang. But when people talk sh*t, they need to be slapped. Today I own/run a 2003 e39 M5. Seriously, if I put a supercharger on my e39 it would hose everything except the Callaway Sledgehammer from the USA. Seriously the S62 V8 is one the greatest V8 engines EVER made and was built next to the S70 V12 for the McLaren F1 roadcar, by the same boys who enjoyed Munich women and lots of beer!
@steelstrings1312 lol on the Wienna 402 race.... both the M3 and the M5 (stock) were faster than the GT 500 (exaust mod - akrapović), so this is a bit unbelivable...
The M5 is the whole package. Class, luxury, handling, sedan and Mustang GT killing performance back in '98. Funny that it takes a supercharger and 110 extra horses to beat the M5. In total that supercharged Mustang probably cost twice as much or more than the M5 did (considering used prices for a '00 M5 vs '07 Mustang plus mods).
@MANUALmobile You have a BMW...how is that better than my car? I have a custom 2011 Mustang GT on order. My Mustang is xoming with Z rated tires from the factory and I average 105MPH in an SUV on my way to work. I can only imagine what my Mustang will do. 120? BTW I will be commuting from SF to LA once I get my car. On 5 I can basically go as fast as I want. 150MPH shouldn't be difficult.
I have moded everything...(CA-intake, High flow headers, x-pipe, high flow exaust, 93 octane tune, short throw shifter, 3.55 gears..... I don't have a supercharger................Yet !
@KillaPillaP i was responding to another comment. and i know the GT350 is quick. the comment i was responding to said that the 2011 M5 is faster then a 2011 mustang. wich it might be, but theres a 80k prive difference.
Stock vs. Stock. BMW especially the M's. But most Mustangs are built for upgrades. I added 10K in upgrades. I am at 533 HP and my suspesion and braking upgrades are out of this world. I can run anything in a straight line or through the hills and mountains...... All for about 41K. Last I checked BMW M3 was 70K plus......
He could have 20psi on that procharger making over 650hp. So he could definitely take you with that setup. Even with a modest boost level, he'd still have at least 500hp, and with the weight difference between your car and his car, it would be a good race. Don't be ignorant just because you have an M5.
In the end the bmw driver still has an ///M car and the mustang driver...yea. Bmw's are not all made to be straight line beasts, it's all about the overall package. My 325ci is quick but no drag champ, but when the road gets twisty it's one of the best driving cars I have ever been in, unlike EVERY American sled out there
@MANUALmobile The limiter kicks in @ 150MPH and @ 120MPH I've heard people report 21MPG but then again these people report 28-31MPG in normal driving with the 4.6L2v/3v.
Considering the M5 is 4 door heavy luxury sport car with a naturally aspirated 5.0 v8 engine, Vs a 2 door sports mustang with a 4.6 v8 engine making only 300 Hp without the supercharger, The M5 wins even if it lost that race.
See what people don't seem to get is europe doesn't really do consumer after market tuning. america does, so we have cars with pretty stock gear, because there is so much we can do outside of the dealership to improve them. which is why european cars come stock with several hundred hp, and sport everything, and we get something poor, that can be brilliant with the right touch.
@matts324 I wasn't going to say anything. As much as it pains me to give props to a mustang, (obviously a bow tie guy based on my channel vids and name), I can't deny the new 5.0. Its a solid platform for some serious track days...
I had an '03 SVT Cobra, my wife owns a completely stock '00 540i automatic. Yes, the mustang is quite a bit quicker but I don't care what you say. The BMW will absolutely RAPE my Cobra AND this mustang as soon as you hit some twisties. I hope the newer 'stangs are improved in quality too. The BMW with 100k + miles doesn't make a squeek or rattle, wish I could've said that about the Cobra when it was brand new! Love the 'stand, this is truly apples and oranges, folks.
Im a die hard BMW fan and not a fan of Fords in any sense but i do respect all cars. Yes the Mustang is cheaper, but the M5 you get a real back seat and a more comfortable ride with the performance to boot. Driving back and forth to work id pick the M5, going out at night to challenge other people its a tie between the M5, Mustang, and one of my personal favorite a 1970 Chevelle SS. What im trying to say is we should all respect everyones vehicles for the respective beasts that they are. Ford is in no way a piece of shit, nor is BMW, or Chevy, or Dodge. Or any other noteable auto maker.
mustangs are easy to buy right now, i just got an 06 gt vert this summer with 7k on it for 19,000. the economy right now is good for buying cars if u got the money right now
@fred1671 You know thats because that is a legendary car. Any of the M3's after that one will never hold value like that. In my area I have seen a few for sale but they are in the 12.5-20K range. It's not quite fair to compare an everyday stang from that era to an M3. It would be more fair for a 5.0 fox to a 325i.
@CosmincjdrGaming true. but the argument is way more than that lol not saying the mustang is a better car but try buying a 2007 m5 for as much as a 2007 mustang gt
@MANUALmobile Why hate on them for straight line speed? Thats what they were designed for. Thats like hating a M3 because it handles well. The new 2011 Mustang is incredibly fast in a straight line and is supposedly faster than the M3 on a track. Even with a LRA this is incredible news. Imagine what this mustang can do with a IRS and the pumped 450HP 5.0 in 2012!
used 2002 m5 is 23 grand and runs like new but w.e. you like what you like and i like what i like.......and i like the new 2010 mustang better than the older ones cause it handles better and is a little more power by 15 hp which isnt really much but w.e. lol
No way that the mustang was running anywhere near 20psi. A v8 on 8psi will give you what or a little more than what we saw. It would take new internals to hold 20psi and at that point you are talking serious speed (and build cost).
That ten year old BMW has more technology in its wheel hubs than the Mustang has in the entire suspension. Don't hit a corner in the Rustang or the ladder chassis made of old shovels will prove to be quite a handling hinderance. Not to mention the girder suspension...
doesn't matter how old the car is, it has got 400hp. besides the bmw got a better traction control. that's the only reason why they were happy at first but when we speak about power the mustang attacks like a lion ! 0:11
That mustang is also a convertible so its about 200lb heavier than a hard top GT. The hard top would be faster than that. Its kinda funny, those guys were so happy until the stang got bye haha
Listen closely. Sounds like the Mustang missed 2nd gear. I hear the rev limiter and the wine of the supercharger. Once he got into 2nd you can see him pull hard. Then off he goes.
@joeympower, like i said.. stock for stock the m5 would beat it. Seeing as this is a newer mustang, it it were the 5.0 edition GT, a 2000 m5 vs a GT 5.0 it would be a close race stock vs stock.
@HBOCHS well thats cuz, BMW's are made for the track, unlike the mustang where its roots came from drag racing, all though some mustang's are able to hit the track, like the Boss 302 which had beat an Audi r8, which has more HP than ur BMW
@leviz502 Yeah maybe but this is an almost 10 years old M5... now what do you think would be the outcome of that race with the V10 500hp M5 E60?
@Expendablexxxx Whats your answer to the new 5.0 Mustang?
@teamsleepnine Have you driven a newer mustang?
he was like THATS WHATS UP!!! when mustang pass by OHH SHITTT! LOL LMAO
@MANUALmobile WTF does Check the Badge mean?
Mustangs are like Camaros, Subarus, 370Z, etc. They are fast, cheap, but their styling makes everyone thinking that you are either a kid or going through a middle age crisis.
It's not hard to make really fast cars. The same way it's not hard to do luxury vehicles.

@MANUALmobile I have scanner, CB, GPS, and Radar Detectors. There are no such thing as radar jammers. I have no idea what a V1 is.
What did the guy in the BMW say @ 0:16 I didn't catch it?
I like how the kids in the bmw didnt realize that mustang wasnt gonna pick up lol.
once the tires caught, they started shitting there pants
That was awesome hahaha! -bmw owner
@laurenceKJ Those stock 235 18" tires dont help much with traction
@netram888 don't forget the 2 ppl in the m5 vs 1 in the 'stang.
As is the Mustang GT, especially the 4.6. The 5.0 is an animal, but the 4.6 was capable of a 60 under 5 seconds after a break in. Which was a big thing, considering at the time it cost ~ 26k-30k to buy.
hahah best reaction video ever...."oh yeah! waaaoooo!"...5secs later...."damn...damn... oh shit..."
@3312cdfp5674 Erm, They are engineered to perform in cold/hot weather. The BMW are actually tested in Sweden for cold weather.
The ///M540i is an actual model designation. It was developed as a stop gap between the E34 M5 and the E39 M5. @MPowerS62 if u want all motor race a 2011 gt,,
bmw driver : FUCK YEAH!!!
**mustang's wheels catch""
bmw drive: oh shit....
lmao
I love Fords, grew up working on Cleveland 351's out of Ford Bronco's and the occasional 289 from a Stang. But when people talk sh*t, they need to be slapped. Today I own/run a 2003 e39 M5. love mustang but gotta root for the m5 e39.. its in a class of its own without mods
The M5 is the whole package. Class, luxury, handling, sedan and Mustang GT killing performance back in '98. Funny that it takes a supercharger and 110 extra horses to beat the M5. In total that supercharged Mustang probably cost twice as much or more than the M5 did (considering used prices for a '00 M5 vs '07 Mustang plus mods).
agony of defeat was priceless in their voices...lol. nice cars!

@fabbydaddy he also has the top down, and stock vs stock more then likely the m5 would take it.. unless it's a mustang GT 5.0 (which it's not)
@fabbydaddy Yea that and its 7 years newer.
Nice race :) I made the mistake of accepting a challenge from a older black m5 (Thought the dam thing was a grandprix from the corner of my eye >_
In the end the bmw driver still has an ///M car and the mustang driver...yea. Bmw's are not all made to be straight line beasts, it's all about the overall package. haha that was too funny... they were laughing and talking shit, then it was ike"ah damn, ah man, ah shit.. we gotta go again" hahaha
For more of my BMW racing video's check out my channel, including BMW 540I, M5, donuts, lauching, and drag racing!!!
@MANUALmobile The limiter kicks in @ 150MPH and @ 120MPH I've heard people report 21MPG but then again these people report 28-31MPG in normal driving with the 4.6L2v/3v.
actually this mustang has after market supercharger, its not stock, my M5 eats stock GT's too. So what are u trying to say. BMW is the best.
@Silenced140 better yet, lets see a 2011 Space Shuttle vs a 2011 Corvette Z06!!
Considering the M5 is 4 door heavy luxury sport car with a naturally aspirated 5.0 v8 engine, Vs a 2 door sports mustang with a 4.6 v8 engine making only 300 Hp without the supercharger, The M5 wins even if it lost that race.
@amyntage Id like to see that run. It would be entertaing for sure.
@tihomirtm Try to look up Grip 800ps and see for your self
Rear wheel drive isn't good to drive in snow, from my own experience. But the drifting is fun :o)
@mazda6tuner99 true
gotta love the mustang(:
@247boxing You can get a E39 for 30 grand or less, trust me. My friend got a Black E39 M5 for 21k
@ROWB0AT never heard of the Twin Turbo Super Snake ? SS = Super Snake
"oooh shit" ...is right.
Haha counted your chickens there for a second. but you got owned by a mustang haha
400 stock horsepower is way different than being boosted up to 410hp.
@matts324 I wasn't going to say anything. As much as it pains me to give props to a mustang, (obviously a bow tie guy based on my channel vids and name), I can't deny the new 5.0. Its a solid platform for some serious track days...
@dregenius AMEN to that.
Go BMW
I had an '03 SVT Cobra, my wife owns a completely stock '00 540i automatic. Yes, the mustang is quite a bit quicker but I don't care what you say. @netram888 I'm pretty sure e39 is mid size, but never the less it's better overall.
Im a die hard BMW fan and not a fan of Fords in any sense but i do respect all cars. @ciocalteanuadrian Lets see the 2007 Mustang GT vs a 2007 BMW M5. Think about that..
///M power baby!!!
@netram888 how can you say*
Yeah the convertible GT may be 200lbs heavier than a coupe but the M5 has a extra passenger so that evens out
@fred1671 You know thats because that is a legendary car. Any of the M3's after that one will never hold value like that. In my area I have seen a few for sale but they are in the 12.5-20K range. It's not quite fair to compare an everyday stang from that era to an M3. It would be more fair for a 5.0 fox to a 325i.
'Stang missed a shift, too.
stock e39 run to 60 about 5 flat. a stock mustang gt with the 4.6 300hp is around the same....
@CroAuslander the Mustang SS huh? lol..
i got an e39 with a full dinan kit with 550hp and some punk keeps telling me his 05 gt is faster than me with the helion procharger
@CosmincjdrGaming true. but the argument is way more than that lol not saying the mustang is a better car but try buying a 2007 m5 for as much as a 2007 mustang gt
@xLuckydemonx dude i love escorts,,, i got the escort solo
@ChuckyDoll79 /agree
@MANUALmobile Why hate on them for straight line speed? Thats what they were designed for. Thats like hating a M3 because it handles well. @fred1671 I'm with you on Alpine white.
@mazda6tuner99 WTF? 2011 GT has a 5.0 Motor. New M5 should race the new GT not the E39 M5. this M5 in the Video is about 10 years old
@netram888 im just saying can u say "embarrassing for the mustang" if that happend? more like embarrassing for the bmw
No way that the mustang was running anywhere near 20psi. A v8 on 8psi will give you what or a little more than what we saw. It would take new internals to hold 20psi and at that point you are talking serious speed (and build cost).

Pretty fast mustang. Try a 2000 BMW M5 vs a 2000 Mustang GT. Or an the other hand try a 2007 BMW M5 vs 2007 Mustang GT. See what happens then..
doesn't matter how old the car is, it has got 400hp. besides the bmw got a better traction control. that's the only reason why they were happy at first but when we speak about power the mustang attacks like a lion ! 0:11
Sure we can! G-Power M3 GTS.
That mustang is also a convertible so its about 200lb heavier than a hard top GT. The hard top would be faster than that. Its kinda funny, those guys were so happy until the stang got bye haha
@netram888 That was not a coupe my friend
@ADD8 LOL really? You haven't seen anything then.
Listen closely. Sounds like the Mustang missed 2nd gear. I hear the rev limiter and the wine of the supercharger. Once he got into 2nd you can see him pull hard. Then off he goes.
@DemkVan lmfao, the supercharger was kicked in from the start, thats why he had no traction
@joeympower, like i said.. stock for stock the m5 would beat it. Seeing as this is a newer mustang, it it were the 5.0 edition GT, a 2000 m5 vs a GT 5.0 it would be a close race stock vs stock.
@netram888 not really
true. but the m5 also had a passenger
@HBOCHS well thats cuz, BMW's are made for the track, unlike the mustang where its roots came from drag racing, all though some mustang's are able to hit the track, like the Boss 302 which had beat an Audi r8, which has more HP than ur BMW
2023
@KillaPillaP
Like I said, I don't expect you to understand, it is pointless to continue.
........oh damn....oh shit.......damn......damn
@sammy4307, oh really? but yet you cant afford a camera to put your car on youtube?
the mustang didnt have traction until 3rd gear that why the m5 was infront for a while
@amyntage stock for stock the m5 would kill it
BMW FOREVER !!!!!!
@OneChillBro the best part is the boss 302 mustang beating the audi R8 around leguna seca...
hahahaha ,the guy with the BMW it too soon begin celebrating
