It’s a shame that so many people can’t see past their own comparisons and just enjoy the band for what they are. They’ve been slugging out for years, up there with the best of them. As a music fan, that should be celebrated. No ones impressed that you’ve managed to spot a band that they might sound like.
This is such an amazing band, I'm so glad I got to see them in a venue of around 50 people, I feel like their stage presence in such a big festival setting would ruin their music.
anyone else hear the gun club in these guys? that rockabilly bass line with the howls of jeffery lee pierce. thats totally rad because Miami was a solid record.
Totally! When I first heard this single I was hoping for more of a Gun Club sound on the record. Most of it doesn't sound like The Gun Club but definitely hear it on this track! Also Miami is an amazing album!
One of the great bands of this decade. Marching Church too! The complaints don't get how punk rock works. It's supposed to be a little hard to listen to, challenging. Get over it. This ain't Brittany Spears
Well they are liked by both Iggy Pop and Richard Hell so you can't really say they aren't respected by icons/roots of the genre. Your comment made me crack up though haha. but in all seriousness I think its true, they don't really identify as a punk band. I think they would identify as a post-punk band which as silly as it may sound is pretty different from just punk' music.
wtf is this, IT'S like ppl ARE stubbornly refusing to create good musc these days. fuck it let's just ramble other some scratchy guitar noise and act like we don't care.. meh
+Belze Buddha Listen to the studio version or rather, listen to their other songs on Plowing Into the Field of Love. This song in particular may not be the best example.
+Belze Buddha It's Punk most of it sounds like this. Check out some of the earlier bands like The Ramones, Sex Pistols, The Clash and Dead Kennedys. This style is not about who can play or sing the best but rather anyone can form a group and have a good time. Some people consider it to be anti-music and transgressive.
That intro is so hypnotic it feels like a train leaving the station
glad he kept his locker key around his belt loop, those things get lost pretty easily.
Nick Falletta They do though.
+Nick Falletta That's probably the key to his heart. :(
+Nick Falletta it's a gay semiotic
++plus is it? explain
***** No

Their guitarist is fantastic, a lot of Johans playing reminds me of Bernard Sumner and Roland S Howard
elias is the best rapper alive

he sounds like a more understandable king krule
Definitely sounds like King Krule, but I find Archy easier to understand lol
best comment i've seen all day
If anything he sounds less understandable, both artists are great tho

Kyle Valdes had the exact same thought!!
Woah. Just made the connection thanks to your mentioning, it’s fucking brilliant

What Have People Been Saying About Them?
Took me until watching this performance to realize he's channeling Darby Crash (among others)
+ixlovexXs totes. maybe a bit of Lux Interior in there as well. and the band's stage presence and wardrobe is very Joy Division.
this song reminds me a lot of The Gun Club for some reason

Just saw them in Dallas last night, so much fun.
Xaja Rex luckyyy, I missed the Dallas show. What songs did they play?
Elias is basically 50% Iggy Pop and 50% Morrisey
But like, without Morrissey's racism

HappyHedgeHog
nope classic punk sounds way better and more structured than this..
i have ears
+Belze Buddha then this is obviously not for you. iceage is about energy, aggression, and noise. but also sound. they're not aiming for bad music.
+Real Strat Most classic punk bands could barely play their instruments and hold a tune but they still sounded amazing.
Wow. That was utter rubbish. I enjoy their albums quite a bit but this sloppiness was too far.
