Hey You don"t need all this prompt commands, just go to disk manager and delete volume of USB drive, it will be unallocated space, now USB in MBR format, then create Macrium.

this one will not work for me, any other method?
Three items:
1)
For a full backup, will the software do a proper job if run via Windows (meaning, while Windows is running)?
Or is it better to boot from the rescue media, and launch the full backup from that state?
2)
For a full backup, can you exclude a directory (and that directory's sub-directories)?
I have directories that have loads of saved data, and I make copies of those files manually, and to not want to waste space by having this backup tool copy those files, again.
3)
Once a backup is created, does the software provide the means to peruse the backed up data?
For example, will it mount the backup as a virtual drive, and allow you to copy files from it to elsewhere?
This would be handy when you need to restore one file, rather than restoring the whole backup.

Great video. I hate dealing with DISKPART, but it is worth it to get a reliable rescue disk.
An easy way to find out which disk number is the USB one is open Disk Manger in Windows. That will tell you the number for our USB drive. Mine happened to be Disk #6, I have a lot of HDDs /SSDs in my system.
You can also do a list disk then pull out the USB and do another list disk and see which one disappeared.

I achieved with Aomei backupper here, this one is nice as well.
Another way: Create the rescue media and then select the iso file. Create the ISO file. Write the file you created to the flash disk with Rufus.
Add the Macrium Image file you previously created to the flash disk.
I've been a very happy Macrium Reflect user for years but recently had a the following issue : RESTORING FROM THE BOOT USB RESCUE DISK COULD NOT DETECT THE PRIMARY C: DRIVE MAKING IT USELESS. I turned my laptop upside down trying to resolve this (deleting/recreating partition; reinstall of Windows 11; nothing worked ! The problem was not with Macrium, but with Acer/Intel. There is a driver provided on the Intel site called "RST Raid driver". Issue solved !

Lifesaver video. Will a single rescue usb work for multiple harddrives or do I need to make a new one for each ssd being backed up?
You can use this USB for multiple drives and multiple computers.

What is the content of the USB stick rescue? Only OS or a complete one as we clone HDD?

I tried to boot with it and it doesn't work, it gives this blue screen that prompt to try again, uefi firmware using the function keys

Thanks so much for this detailed instructions. very helpful indeed. I have a 64GB USB. I formatted it to exFAT before I start the clone, but when I click BUILD, it prompted me to reformat, so Macrium did reformat to FAT32. After the clone, my USB shows (via properties) only 0.99GB total capacity? but I have 64GB USB. Could you help me to understand why?
This video is a little lacking, because you are not explaining why you are using an unformatted USB (with no filesystem). Windows kind of choked on this hiccup, while Macrium was trying to copy files and create the rescue media. File explorer prompted me to Format the drive, but I selected Cancel, because the Macrium operation was ongoing. Macrium is supposed to create a partition with the appropriate filesystem if it doesn't exist.
I built it without converting it to MBR but it seems to work? idk

I used Macrium Free Edition to back up my Windows Vista laptop before I installed Windows 10 on it. I burned the rescue disc to a CD, and placed my Macrium backup files on a 2 TB external drive. The install worked, and am currently using that upgraded laptop. My problem is the external hard drive that contains my backup files. I could only format it in Fat32 originally to place the backup files on it...Now I cant use it for anything else. I plug it in; the backup files appear on the screen, but I can't add anymore files to the drive. All files added are either corrupted on adding, or are not there when I plug in the drive again. Does Macrium have the drive blocked from adding anymore files to it? I can't seem to change anything security wise on the drive because it is not NTFS format.
