Brilliant story. Lovely bloke. The type I could listen to all day. I bet he’s got a few tales he could tell.
Oh, he has plenty of stories to tell, and there are a few others on this channel already ;) thank you 😊
What a magical story - how things have changed, become sanitised, more regulated and supposedly made ‘safe’. In those days the scenarios were allowed to develop and were therefore much more realistic. To have a Lightning go supersonic under you at 250ft must have be something else - the grin on the old Canberra pilot’s face said it all! Happy days in the prime of the RAF.😁
I can't argue with that. Thank you for your comment ☺️
A real cat and mouse story I could listen to this gent all day
Had to check my logbook: 27 Nov '80; 2 sorties; Dobbie/Self; Hawk T1; XX179/XX166; Ex 5 & Ex 6. Next trip solo...thanks Dobz.😁
I'll pass the message on! 😉
Fab😁
@stevethomas4615 Dobz sends his regards. How did your RAF career progress, I'd you don't mind me asking? Do you have any exciting anecdotes of your own you'd like to share? 😉
Thanks for passing on my note. Briefly, instructor tour on the Jet Provost, then Jags, 54(F)Sqn, 226OCU, 6Sqn. Finished my time doing post-maintenance stuff on the mighty Jag as well as GR4/F3/Hawk. A good time was had 😁.
@stevethomas4615 no problem 😊 Very good. Would you be interested in chatting about your time on Jaguars? Perhaps email me, and we can work something out from there? AirForceAnecdotes@Gmail.com
Them were the days...
Better a beer than a new Canberra 😆
Can't argue with that! 😄
Lightening pilot: "Peek-a-boo!"
Peek-a-BOOM!
A great little story and a lucky escape. Imagine if the engines had surged. The poor nav wouldn't have had much of a chance to escape 👍
Brilliant
Great recollection
Glad you enjoyed it
Spot the error in the introduction 😄
Easily done! Great video otherwise 👌
No hard deck then?
Apparently not 👀
Boys will be boys 😂
Aye and these boys had some very expensive toys.
